[Bug 1767703] Re: Calling 'apt-install grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed
Hi Just a precision for the installation of a Linux OS. To use the UEFI mode, a "gpt" partition is needed to load the OS (not a "mbr" formatted disk, compatible with the "BIOS-legacy" mode). Here to find more information: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI https://www.happyassassin.net/2014/01/25/uefi-boot-how-does-that- actually-work-then/ http://www.rodsbooks.com/linux-uefi/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767703 Title: Calling 'apt-install grub-efi-amd64-signed' failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1767703/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1766945] Re: (EFI on top of legacy install) choosing "replace" or "resize" options in partitioning may lead to an install failure
Affected by the same bug, I solved the point adding a small EFI (200M) partition before the OS / as Dr_SE (test911turbo) wrote on 2017-03-06: (comment #14) here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1252255 In my case problem now solved: On installation, do not forget to create a EFI System Partition (ESP), if it doesn't already exist. 1.- Live USB Stick, install Ubuntu 2.- on partitioning, select "something else" 3.- create EFI System Partition (ESP): - on the 1st 100 G of the disk - size > 100 M (recommended 200 M) - "primary partition" - type: "EFI" 4.- everything else as usual. Now it works fine with my old /home partition. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766945 Title: (EFI on top of legacy install) choosing "replace" or "resize" options in partitioning may lead to an install failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partman-efi/+bug/1766945/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1749923] Re: ubuntu 18.04 installer crashed at the end of installation alongside a ubuntu 16.04.3 installation
Hi to everybody I tried many times today with the new 18.04 LTS, without success (SHA256SUM controlled). I've followed too recommendations described here : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI#General_principles I wanted to replace the last 17.10 OS with the new 18.04 LTS version and conserving the /home partition with the same user-name, as I done many times before, but the installation crashes always at the end : "grub- efi-amd64-signed failed installation /target/"... The partition is a gpt one, SecureBoot disabeled in the BIOS, as usual... and the 17.10 version was working fine. My mther board is a J4205-ITX asrock... Any suggestion would be very welcome! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749923 Title: ubuntu 18.04 installer crashed at the end of installation alongside a ubuntu 16.04.3 installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1749923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
