[Bug 441297] [NEW] No Add computer page

2009-10-03 Thread Giorgos Koklas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

System Info
---
Description:Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release:9.10
--
ubuntuone-client:
  Installed: 0.96.0-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.96.0-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.96.0-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://ftp.ntua.gr karmic/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
-

What I expected:

I expected to launch the app, sign to the service, add my computer and
share folders.

--

What happened instead:

When I first launched the application it took me to a web page to log
in. However although I did put in correct credentials (username,
password) the page kept on looping when hitting the sign in button. I
closed the broswer, right clicked the app and selected go to web.
There I subscribed to the (free plan) service. However, I still have not
been able to perform the add my computer step at any point in the
proccess and the app is pretty much useless as it is at the moment.

[Bug 441297] Re: No Add computer page

2009-10-03 Thread Giorgos Koklas
Seems after going to:

Applications--Internet-- Ubuntu One it took me to the correct page.

Not sure what I did wrong before and why the page would not load but seems to
be ok now.
Perhaps a right click menu option on the icon would be helpful too.

[Bug 292836] Re: Cannot browse samba shares

2008-11-12 Thread Giorgos Koklas
I can confirm this bug. I set up a fresh install of ubuntu. and share some
folders using Nautilus right click menu. After ubuntu installs samba I create a
user with smbpassw and edit the smb.conf so that workgroup matches my
workgroup.
The network consists of a winxp home machien and an ubuntu machine.

On the windows machine: I can access shares just fine. When prompted I
enter the required user password and the share is accessible.

On Ubuntu: At first everything works fine. After a few reboots though the
following start to happen:
1. Nautilus does not remember to the shared emblel on the shared folder,
although it does remain shared and accessible from other machines.
2. If I go to Places--Network nothing shows up in Nautilus, as if there is no
network (Only the default Windows Network icon shows which point to nothing
of course).
3. I can access the shares if I go to Places--Connect to and specify the
shared path.
4. Gnome commander seems to work But not always. Can not seem to be able to
reproduce the reasons why it does not in some cases.

This is specific to Gnome. Everyhting seems to work fine once I install
konqueror on ubuntu and access the shares through it. Really annoying
bug.

[Bug 254151] [NEW] samba fails to install prperly after unnistall+deleting smb.conf

2008-08-02 Thread Giorgos Koklas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

os: ubuntu 8.04.1
package: samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4

[description]

For some reason my shares were no longer marked as shared in nautilus.
I decided to wipe out samba and do a fresh install. I did the following:

1. sudo apt-get remove samba
2. sudo rm -rf  /etc/samba/{all files in there}
3. sudo apt-get install samba. During installation I got an error reagarding
dependencies
between samba and samba-common and the installation would fail.

I managed to cmplete the installation by doing this:

sudo touch /etc/samba/smb.conf

Although samba installed my smb.conf was empty and I still haven't been
able to share again.

[what I would like it to do]

I think that smb.conf should be created with its default contents each
time a user installs samba AND smb.conf is missing for whatever reason.
Otherwise it should use an existing smb.conf.

[Bug 72262] Re: Form Wizard in Base does not complete

2007-02-09 Thread Giorgos Koklas
I confirm the bug and agree that it should be of high priority.
The importance of this can be seen from the duplicate reports of this bug in
launchpad as well as the other related issues with it, revealed in the debian
report (the link given at the top of this bug report).

Office is a major component of a distro and this really makes ubuntu NOT
a usable choice for a working environment.

[Bug 76450] Re: Open Office shipped with Ubuntu is broken.

2007-01-04 Thread Giorgos Koklas
You can find various bug reports in launchpad. As an example try bug report No.
72262 (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/72262).
However, for a more complete list with the bugs discovered so far check this
out:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=354895

Most of them are easy to reproduce and affect the suite in a serious
way, in my opinion that is. Perhaps you could confirm this report after
trying them yourself :) .

Clearly all these bugs that come from the Debian compilation are
