[Bug 1496697] Re: HDMI output gone after completing ubuntu updates
I couldn't make the commit bisect work yet. But I've realized one thing and I think it's an important one and maybe a workaround for this issue: I booted up the laptop with no HDMI cable connected to the HDMI output and I've tried to execute the xrandr command and the HDMI output was there. So, I've connected the cable, turned on the external screen and it worked fine. So, I think that after executing the Ubuntu updates, the HDMI output is gone only if the laptop is booted with the HDMI cable connected in the HDMI output. I've tried, but that I couldn't boot into that kernel. Public bug reported: Hi, I've Ubuntu 14.04 LTS installed on a Toshiba Satellite laptop (it has an integrated Intel video card and an AMD Radeon video card). After installation I was using an external monitor screen connected to the laptop through the HDMI laptop's output. Everything worked fine until the Ubuntu's Software Updater showed me some pending updates. I've made the updates and the next time i restarted the laptop, there was no way to detect the external screen. After googling a lot about this, i couldn't find a solution to my problem. I have the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04 and a Toshiba Satellite laptop. The HDMI output just disappeared from the xrandr command's output after updating Ubuntu.
