[Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens
@Romano Yes - Unity does indeed work quite nicely with focus-follows-mouse and auto-raise. I've also removed the packages that implement global menu, and turned off screen-edge window maximisation. And I'm reasonably happy with the result. It's just that I'd have preferred to have a GUI (or maybe a file) to configure these items in one rather than having to jump through hoops to do it... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682788 Title: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/682788/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens
"Click to focus is the only supported focus model in 11.10 (and older releases?). In the same sense as having a global menu bar isn't an option anymore, click to focus isn't an option either." I've use focus follows mouse and autoraise for about 20 years, and I'll go to some lengths to configure my system so as to be able continue to use it... Global menus don't sit well with such a configuration - so to be able to configure them off (or limited) would be good. And I also quite Manny's suggestion of #106. More generally (and probably off topic) I somewhat lament the trend towards non-configurability in today's desktops. They look pretty, and work to the design team's vision of how a desktop should be, but not all users share that vision in all respects. I suppose I should write my own to suit myself, but really, all I want to do is edit a config file to make the desktop comfortable for me, and get on with my work..

@varun kumar, for me there are two ways to suspend: (1) Although the screen is garbled, the dialogue asking for your password is there - just type it and hit return. On my screen, the left hand 25% is clean, so I can find the power down options and suspend. (2) Alternatively, and much more simply, I can just close the screen/lid. With the correct power management options, the PC will suspend. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763390 Title: Hibernation problem in Acer Aspire one 532H After Installing Updates -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 369005] Re: ath5k : disconnection / slow network - "unsupported jumbo" error
Applied Jussi Kivilinna's patch (see #20 above) to compat- wireless-2010-05-29, and compiled against 2.6.32-22-generic. Had to change calls to pci_pcie_cap() in the patch to calls to pci_find_capability(): From: pos = pci_pcie_cap(pdev); pos = pci_find_capability(pdev, PCI_CAP_ID_EXP); (I think the newer API is not in 2.6.32-22). The connection drop due to large transfers is gone - I moved ~1GB of files up & down without failure. I did notice that the new driver seems slow to connect from cold boot. [Bug 369005] Re: ath5k : disconnection / slow network - "unsupported jumbo" error
Continued from #17 above. Sorry, should have said this is Ubuntu NBR 10.04. Standard & linux-backports-modules-wireless-2.6.32.22 ath5k drivers (from 10.04 repository) show loss of connection, so I tried the bleeding edge versions built from source. BTW, I'm not totally convinced the jumbo packet reports are linked. If I throttle the wireless rate on my AP right down to 1Mbps, I get much more data through before the disconnection (but _very_ slowly!). I still see jumbo packet reports though, and scattered throughout the transfer (this is with the repository drivers, didn't try this with bleeding edge one). -- ath5k : disconnection / slow network - "unsupported jumbo" error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/369005 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 210303] Re: [hardy] kaffeine loops on "Codec package is already installed"
On my Hardy upgrade I also got the 'Kaffiene installer loop'. But I also got another dialogue: "xine Message - Kaffiene Player The source can't be read. Maybe you don't have enough rights for this, or source doesn't contain data (e.g: no disc in drive). (/dev/dvd)" I found that the link for /dev/dvd did not exist, but the 'xine Engine Parameters' pointed to it. A link '/dev/dvd1' did exist, and pointing the 'xine Engine Parameters->media->Beginner Options->dvd.device' at it fixed both symptoms - 'the codec install loop' & 'the can't be read'. Beware, you seem to need to click 'Apply' before leaving the xine Engine dialogue, otherwise the changes made are lost. -- [hardy] kaffeine loops on "Codec package is already installed" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210303 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is subscribed to kaffeine in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84717] Re: SRU: updates necessary for Kubuntu Upgrade Tool in Edgy
Worked fine on my home installation. Only mild complaint is that after having upgraded to 7.04, Adept Updater always says 'A new version of Kubuntu is available! Click next...' after installing any patches. the Next button is greyed out but it is a bit misleading. Did not work at all on my office installation. I suspect that this is because it is behind a proxy. I have set a http_proxy environment variable, and have proxy lines in apt.conf. Normally Adept works fine.
