[Bug 768791] Re: isoinfo: Unable to find Joliet SVD (USB creator won't select ISO for creating boot USB)

2021-11-17 Thread Grzegorz Wiciak
On commit: 94e06a854788aaee3d6b271d8e91310f98269953 0.2.4 (patches unapplied)
Colin Watson 2009-09-01 16:29:56 added a mechanism to
verify `.iso` images with` isoinfo`. If the ISO is not correct then it doesn't
add.
Otherwise, it checks if the file has an `.img` extension, if it adds so.

In summary, after downloading the file, if it does not detect, change
the extension to `.img`.

Hello, something new about this? This error also occurs on a computer
with an additional monitor. I tested it on different computers with
1440p + 1080p and 2x 1080p.

[Bug 1726548] Re: Windows resized after resume

2020-10-06 Thread Grzegorz Daniluk
Some version of that bug exists on Ubuntu 20.04 as well. I have a 4k
monitor and I have set the display scale to 200% in the Ubuntu Settings.
After the monitor sleep/resume, the Google Chrome window scaling is
wrong. The size of the window is the same as it was before but the
contents is drawn with 100% scaling. I mean the fonts are very small.
After the window is moved, the scaling is corrected to 200%. I even
don't have to restart the Chrome, just a simple move or resize window
operation fixes the problem.

[Bug 1879968] Re: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on mutter 3.36.2

2020-05-25 Thread Grzegorz Sadowski
I wanted to let you know that I am experiencing very similar behaviour on
Kubuntu 20.04 after updating from 18.04 to 20.04, and I have my doubts that
it's related to Mutter. For now I can confirm that I have an issue on KDE
Plasma - to be able to paste (middle mouse click, Ctrl+C/V or Copy/Paste
context menu options), I have to copy the same text twice, in one of the ways
described below:
1. select text (ie. double click it), then click anywhere to lose focus from
it, then select exactly the same text again - then I am able to paste with
middle mouse button; or:
2. when text is already selected, I need to hit Ctrl+C twice, then I can paste
it with Ctrl+V.
Above is suspiciously close to what Davide mentioned above in comment
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1879968/comments/3 and
that's why I decided my problem is probably related.

My suspicion - this may be related to some application I use. On KDE
this issue manifests almost right away after logging in now, but there's
a short period after logging in, when it doesn't happen yet. Maybe I've
got something in autostart that triggers it.

On other environments (Openbox, LXQT and Gnome Shell) I did not
experience this problem, however I did test only for a minute. My plan
for next few days is to switch to LXQT and wait for the problem to
happen again, and let you know.

2020-04-24 Thread Grzegorz Bizon
The fix works for me! Thank you very much for fixing this bug, really
appreciated!

It appears that dependencies of the new Bluez packages are also
compatible with Debian GNU/Linux. Since I use Debian, I confirm that
installing fixed Ubuntu package on Debian 11 (testing right now) also
fixes the problem.

Thank you again for fixing this <3

[Bug 1825544] Re: Switch User menu item gone after upgrade to Ubuntu 19.04

2019-07-09 Thread Grzegorz Korba
I got this problem after upgrading Ubuntu 18.04 to 19.04. My system was
initially installed as KUbuntu, later I've installed Cinnamon so it's a
mix of many packages. However, I couldn't change user while logging so I
needed to use ctrl+alt+F* and start new session as specified user, then
start X server. `startx cinnamon` somehow worked, but there were some
issues while running, so I've been googling a bit and this is what I've
done:

- added "Session=cinnamon" to ~/.dmrc
- added `exec cinnamon-session` to ~/xinitrc
- enabled automatic and timed login like mentioned in
https://askubuntu.com/a/1140036
- run `sudo service gdm3 restart` as mentioned in
https://askubuntu.com/q/1136457
- disabled automatic and timed login
- reboot

After that I have logon screen with ability to choose user and I can
properly log in.

When I try to switch users and login again, I got "could not acquire
name on session bus" error, but I can switch to session where I'm still
logged in. Hope this will help anybody, but I'm looking forward for
proper fix and instructions less random than mine ;-)

2017-10-20 Thread Grzegorz Daniluk
Same problem on Intel integrated gfx card. I have 4k monitor connected
over DP-1 (to have 4k @ 60Hz). In my case after the crash all apps
(Google Chrome, terminal, ...) are killed. Additionally scaling-factor
and refresh rate are set to incorrect values. Scaling-factor is set to 1
and refresh rate is lowered to 30Hz.

Scaling-factor can be fixed with "gsettings set
org.gnome.desktop.interface scaling-factor 2" However there is no way to
set fixed refresh rate to 60Hz. I have to reboot whole system. So
basically after "blank screen" system has to rebooted.

package ver. 0.100.0-19 be an option to resolve it?
I'm thinking of the fix for
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ureadahead/+bug/777224 and the
non-systemd change done to
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/vivid/ureadahead/vivid/revision/32#debian/rules

[Bug 1689356] Re: UI scale being reset to 1 everytime when display sleeps for a while

2017-05-18 Thread Grzegorz Daniluk
My desktop has integrated Intel gfx so the bug seems to be not related
to gfx driver.

Anyway the bug is super annoying. For the first time I am considering to
downgrade the Ubuntu. Does anyone knows some work around?

[Bug 1686072] [NEW] Fails to start without database write access (PostgreSQL backend)

2017-04-25 Thread Grzegorz Nosek
Public bug reported:

When the pgsql backend is set up to connect to a database without write
access, pdns fails to start, trying to run some update queries.

Using 4.0.3 as packaged by upstream fixes the problem (pdns properly
serves records from a read-only replica).

The issue exists in 4.0.0-alpha2, as packaged in xenial

[Bug 1633609] Re: spice-vdagentd does not work

2017-02-19 Thread Grzegorz Żur
Thanks to the answer on askbuntu.com I improved the workaround.

In /etc/default/spice-vdagentd

put the following line

SPICE_VDAGENTD_EXTRA_ARGS=-X

then run

service spice-vdagent restart

This disables systemd-logind integration.

It is actually described in 'man spice-vdagentd'.

[Bug 1658016] Re: Intel AC7260 wireless (iwlwifi) stops working after computer sleep/wakeup

2017-02-17 Thread Grzegorz Ciołek
I can confirm the same behaviour

My workaround:

Create a file /etc/systemd/system/wifi-resume.service

#/etc/systemd/system/wifi-resume.service
#sudo systemctl enable wifi-resume.service
[Unit]
Description=Restart networkmanager at resume
After=suspend.target

to enable the service
$sudo systemctl enable wifi-resume.service

to disable the service
$sudo systemctl disable wifi-resume.service
and remove the file

[Bug 1633609] Re: spice-vdagentd does not work

2017-02-05 Thread Grzegorz Żur
I found a partial workaround.

To make things work. Add "-X" to the daemon spice-vdagentd in
"/lib/systemd/system/spice-vdagent.service" file.

This option disables systemd-login integration. The virtual machine is
now able to set correct screen size but USB still integration fails for
me.

[Bug 1633609] Re: spice-vdagentd does not work

2017-02-04 Thread Grzegorz Żur
Both versions 16.04 and 16.10 uses version 0.15 of spice-vdagent. I
tried installing version 0.17 from Ubuntu 17.04 on 16.10. It failed the
same way.

I traced the problem to the function session_info_session_for_pid in
file systemd-login.c.

It seems that the problem is related to systemd.

[Bug 499773] Re: Race with ureadahead can mean that /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs appears in /etc/mtab

2017-01-26 Thread Grzegorz Ojrzanowski
For me it's the mtab entry for tracefs on a non-existing mount point in
/var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing that is causing problems. It does
affect VMware snapshots when quiescing is required too.

Since it's a different entry then in this post I opened a new bug report
in #1659684

Just to note, 'mountall' also clears that mtab entry, but it also nukes
contents of /tmp in the process, which might not be good if someone is
running Passenger, which apparently keeps socket files in there (i.e.
/tmp/passenger.1.0.xxx/generation-0/request )

[Bug 1659684] [NEW] Leftover mount in /etc/mtab pointing to /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing after some runs of apt dist-upgrade followed by a reboot

2017-01-26 Thread Grzegorz Ojrzanowski
Public bug reported:

After a patching and a reboot cycle (possibly only the ones that involve
running ureadahead triggers) a leftover mount entry is present in
/etc/mtab pointing to /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing

  root@localhost:~$ mount
  /dev/mapper/sysvg-root on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)

none on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw)
none on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw)
none on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw)
udev on /dev type devtmpfs (rw,mode=0755)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,noexec,nosuid,gid=5,mode=0620)
tmpfs on /run type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,size=10%,mode=0755)

(rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,none,name=systemd)

  root@localhost:~$ mount | grep tracefs
tracefs on /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing type tracefs (rw,relatime)

But that mount point doesn't exist

  root@localhost:~$ ls -lha /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/
  total 8.0K
  drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4.0K Jan 27 11:36 .
  drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4.0K Jan 27 11:16 ..

That mtab entry can be removed by running 'umount
/var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing', but only after creating that mount
point first

  root@localhost:~$ mkdir /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing

  root@localhost:~$ ls -lh /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/
  total 4.0K
  drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4.0K Jan 27 11:28 tracing

  root@localhost:~$ umount /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing
  umount: /var/lib/ureadahead/debugfs/tracing: not mounted

  root@localhost:~$ mount | grep tracefs

  root@localhost:~$ mount
  /dev/mapper/sysvg-root on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev)
none on /sys/fs/cgroup type tmpfs (rw)

none on /run/lock type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,size=5242880)
none on /run/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev)
none on /run/user type tmpfs (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,size=104857600,mode=0755)
none on /sys/fs/pstore type pstore (rw)
  /dev/sda1 on /boot type ext4 (rw)
  systemd on /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd type cgroup
(rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,none,name=systemd)

I'm experiencing this on several Ubuntu 14.04 servers, running on a VMware
cluster.
Package versions worth noting are:
ureadahead 0.100.0-16
linux-image-4.4.0-59-generic4.4.0-59.80~14.04.1
open-vm-tools 2:9.4.0-1280544-5ubuntu6.2

This also causes #1516451 and may be related to #499773

[Bug 1510344] Re: Keyboard Backlight Turns on at boot

2016-10-17 Thread Grzegorz Ciołek
Thanks Cristi,

This finally "fixed" auto backlit on my E7470 (after half a year).

Next - disappearing sound card and built-in LTE modem, not working mute
button in 4.8, dying WiFI card. You gotta love Ubuntu on Skylake ;-)

[Bug 1510344] Re: Keyboard Backlight Turns on at boot

2016-10-05 Thread Grzegorz Ciołek
I've tried Billiot's approach (#98) - no luck either.

All is good during the boot.
But just a sec before displaying the login screen, the keyboard lits to maximum
and stay like this.

[Bug 1608267] [NEW] can't upgrade distribution 14.04 to 16.04

2016-07-31 Thread Grzegorz Suwaj
Public bug reported:

I restarted my system and it showed me that I can upgrade my Ubuntu. Now
I have 14.04, I'd like to have 16.04. I clicked on "yes" or something
like that, the upgrade took some process then I saw some message. It
says that I can't upgrade my Ubuntu, the problem may be that I have
"experimental" version, I'm trying to install "experimental" version or
I've some third-party packages installed. I don't think that one of this
three may be truth. That's why I'm asking.

[Bug 1583861] Re: Keyboard backlight isn't properly restored after idle on systems with hardwired configuration

2016-07-18 Thread Grzegorz Ciołek
Hi all,
I've got Dell Latitude E7470:

#uname -a
Linux E7470 4.4.0-31-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 13 00:07:12 UTC 2016 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

#dpkg -s unity-settings-daemon | grep -i 'status\|version'
Status: install ok installed
Version: 15.04.1+16.04.20160701-0ubuntu1

My Keyboard lights all time (doesn't time-out). I can disable it by
FN+F10, but it will light again after boot/resume/unlock-weak-up. When I
boot to BIOS all is OK. It time-outs after 10 seconds.

Should I perform any additional steps (i.e. packages reconfiguration) ?

Grzesiek

[Bug 1542519] Re: Double menu bar

2016-07-11 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
I just got double menu bards on totem and several other applications.
Might be related to me trying to set up default app for handling magnet
urls

xdg-mime default deluge.desktop x-scheme-handler/magnet
gvfs-mime --set x-scheme-handler/magnet deluge.desktop

As it also affected system in general as I think the default gtk
libraries used by system have changed... (guake and few other apps is
displayed in crude gtk2 style)

- in /etc/pm/sleep.d create file with some name (for example 01_wifi_wl) with
content:

case "$1" in
suspend)
modprobe -r wl

resume)

[Bug 1175947] Re: gvfs-copy --preserve doesn't work with MTP devices

2015-10-09 Thread Grzegorz Ciołek
Andrew could you test copying files inside phone and check timestamps i.e.:
- Internal <> Internal,
- Internal <> SD Card
- Internal <> USB (OTG).

Does any of your devices has an encrypted internal partition ?

As far as I can recall there can be these issues regarding timestamps:

- gvfs (Internal, SD, USB)
- FUSE implementation (SD and USB)
- Encryption (Internal, SD, USB)

My S4 had these issues since 4.2.

Happy to hear that it works for you :-).

[Bug 1452830] Re: Keyboard and mouse not working after update to 15.04

2015-08-08 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Hi, I haven't used Ubu for some time and now I am back and it seems I
was wrong in that the bug was fixed. It just started showing up less for
some time.

I dug into the problem and it seems that USB ports are being suspended.
I found that laptop-mode tools do this when one is on battery, but it
happened to me when I has AC connected (sometimes, and sometimes not).
Uninstalling laptop-mode tools seems to have fixed the problem.

Do the procedure form #14.
As far as I know the "fix" does the same but on a different level.
TRIM in my EVO 840 works now.

Re: [Bug 1268257] Re: nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu3: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build, with only error: "objdump: '... .tmp_nv.o': No such file"

2015-05-08 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
KennoVO, 3.16 from both trusty 14.04.2 and utopic is also affected. And
there's also only nvidia 331 available.
@Adam Koczur (sbv): nice, that is a step in the right direction!
However, I have to point out that pretty much everyone who is affected
by this bug is running the 3.13 kernel that comes with Trusty; those who
are running newer (non-LTS) kernels all have newer nvidia drivers
(except the ones with legacy graphic cards, but that's a minority;
nvidia's legacy support goes quite a way back...)

So, do you think it would be safe to test your ppa with the 3.13 kernel,
or is that not expected to work?

[Bug 1452830] [NEW] Keyboard and mouse not working after update to 15.04

2015-05-07 Thread Grzegorz Galezowski
Public bug reported:

After turning on the system, mouse pointer is not visible and first key
press on keyboard is ignored.

When I press mouse button (left or right), mouse pointer appears and I
can control it, but when I leave it for few seconds, it disappears
again.

As for the keyboard, the first key press is ignored (e.g. when I try to
type "zone", only "one" is visible on the screen because the first key
is ignored) - this behavior repeats itself after few seconds of not
pressing any keys.

My keyboard has backlight option and when I turn it on, the light
flickers and disappears when the keyboard gets "disconnected".

Disconnecting and connecting again mouse and keyboard makes the issue
disappear - from that moment on, both mouse and keyboard work like a
charm (until reboot).

@Erik Krom, specific kernel release updates are fine (like todays
one3.16.0.34.x -> 3.16.0.34.y) problem occurs, when the new version is
being installed. ie. 3.16.0.33 -> 3.16.0.34
