[Bug 1542519] Re: Double menu bar

2016-07-11 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
I just got double menu bards on totem and several other applications.
Might be related to me trying to set up default app for handling magnet
urls

xdg-mime default deluge.desktop x-scheme-handler/magnet
gvfs-mime --set x-scheme-handler/magnet deluge.desktop

As it also affected system in general as I think the default gtk
libraries used by system have changed... (guake and few other apps is
displayed in crude gtk2 style)

2015-05-08 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
KennoVO, 3.16 from both trusty 14.04.2 and utopic is also affected. And
there's also only nvidia 331 available.
@Adam Koczur (sbv): nice, that is a step in the right direction!
However, I have to point out that pretty much everyone who is affected
by this bug is running the 3.13 kernel that comes with Trusty; those who
are running newer (non-LTS) kernels all have newer nvidia drivers
(except the ones with legacy graphic cards, but that's a minority;
nvidia's legacy support goes quite a way back...)

So, do you think it would be safe to test your ppa with the 3.13 kernel,
or is that not expected to work?

Maybe it's not the nvidia drivers problem, but kernel issue actually?
Because I hadn't had this problem since 3.13.0-44 update.

For me error occured during install, but after reboot everything seems
to work fine.

Either that, or a large number of issues that appeared since 3.13.0.44
update is not related to this one at all.

[Bug 1355624] [NEW] after upgrade to kernell 3.13.0-33 system fails to boot properly

2014-08-12 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Public bug reported:

after today's upgrade to newest kernel (07/12/2014 - kernel 3.13.0-33) system
at first bot up, but the loading screen flickered heavily, but booted to normal
functioning login screen.
I've turned it off - and the flickering continued on turning off screen as
well. Another try resulted in my laptop panic signal. I was able to get only to
bios for about 10 minutes - couldn't even boot up to ubuntu live from usb.

Right now I booted to 3.13.0-32 kernel.

[Bug 1245774] [NEW] notwork-manager doesn't get up after suspending whole system

2013-10-29 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10, and got this problem last two times I
brought my laptop up from suspend, the network manager applet shows networks
turned off, and connection being offline. With no apparent means to turn it
back on.
I can click on the option Network, but that does nothing.

I use Ubuntu 13.10 64bit on a 5 year old Samsung R510 laptop.

Don't know what happend, but after installing Ubuntu 11.10 I had a
problem with installing Opera browser from deb packages! These packags
worked perfectly well on natty, however oneiric's software centre claims
it can not open deb package.

I finally installed it using dpkg -i but still can't see package details
in software centre

[Bug 702978] [NEW] Can't suspend laptop or turn on second monitor after recent xserver update

2011-01-14 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Public bug reported:

After recent maverick update (the one around 12.01.2011) and restarting
system, I can't suspend my laptop, it hangs with screen lit.

Also, when trying to turn on second monitor in TwinView mode through
nvidia-settings, all I get is black main screen with mouse pointer (I
can move it), and it's still lit.

I use nvidia proprietary drivers (260 If I remember correctly) and regularly
update my system.
My machine is Samsung R510 FS04PL.

[Bug 511980] Re: gnome-panel on autohide shows below application window.

2010-01-25 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Another funny thing.
Maximized windows always leave approximately 1px space on tom, so I can peek at
the shown gnome-panel, and even click on it, although it's hard to tell
sometimes what I'm clicking. All hints from applets and launchers, and what's
most important, all dropdown menus, shows on top of everything, just as they
supposed to.

[Bug 511980] [NEW] gnome-panel on autohide shows below application window.

2010-01-24 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Public bug reported:

 Description: Ubuntu 9.10
 Release: 9.10

apt-cache policy gnome-panel
gnome-panel:

  Tabela wersji:

500 http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages

Here are the details of what's going on. Some time ago I installed
awant-window-navigator from repositories, removed bottom gnome panel, and set
up top one on autohide, as well as awn. I'm working on laptop, and this
configuration uses screen more efficient.
Point is, that from time to time (more often lately), gnome-panel was comming
from hiding behind application window, and awn wasn't showing (probably same
bug) at all. I had to restart awn, but clicking gnome-panel was enough to make
it behave correctly.
Yesterday I've updated awn to the one from awn-testing ppa repository. I no
longer seem to have problems with it, however problem with gnome-panel stayed
or even gone worse. It no longer comes behind even if clicked. Funny thing,
that it works correctly on other virtual desktop, at least till I activate that
window instead of panel, I have evolution turned on.

[Bug 511980] Re: gnome-panel on autohide shows below application window.

2010-01-24 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Well... if it's reproducible... don't know, it just happens from time to time.
Last few time happened after watching videos in Totem in full screen. Old AWN
showed in full screen, and disappeared after moving mouse cursor over and out.
After that the problem occurred. For some time I was thinking it has something
to do with using Audacious as it's always on (and in tray, unless I'm playing
with it's list) when this things happens, but I'm not sure any more. There's
nothing constant in what I'm doing that may cause this behaviour, so, I'm
guessing it's something I'm not aware of.
Don't know if it'll be helpful: I've got normal visual effects turned on, and
one screenlet applet set to below.
If there's a way to check parameters for my desktop objects that tells what
should be kept below and what over or on what layer objects are set to show on,
I'd be probably of more help for this, next time this thing occurs.

[Bug 370000] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1 .31-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso post-installation script devolvió el código de s alida de error 127

2009-12-19 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Yes, it is, and was right after my desktop Ubuntu installation.
I replaced the 9.10 with with the one I took from 9.04.

To be true, I begin to think there was something within my database
directory /home/database (into which my.cnf pointed to) that prevented
normal installation and running, although the only difference was debian
flag file. In my directory it had 5.0 in name (debian-5.0.flag), while
in the database folder created after using default my.cnf the file had
5.1 (debian-5.1.flag).

Since mysql-common is installed as a requirement to ubuntu-desktop, I
had some problems with locating the source of problems.

But after this adventure I moved all my database servers from desktop
system to virtual machine with ubuntu server.

Then after a while I installed mysql-server 5.1 which gave my configuration
error while installing.
After some playing around I've purged all server packets, renamed /etc/mysql to
/etc/mysql1 and installed server again, it got mysql working, it starts and
restarts, however I get this message when starting:
/etc/init.d/mysql: WARNING: /etc/mysql/my.cnf cannot be read. See
 README.Debian.gz

Also, while installing mysql-server packages I've got this:
 * Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
091209 11:45:51 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled.
091209 11:45:51 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 44233
091209 11:45:51 InnoDB: Starting shutdown...
091209 11:45:53 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 0 44233
091209 11:45:53 [Warning] Forcing shutdown of 1 plugins
 * /etc/init.d/mysql: WARNING: /etc/mysql/my.cnf cannot be read. See
README.Debian.gz
 * Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]

Although I've got no idea if it's relevant or not.
Once I copy old my.cnf file, mysql fails to start until it's removed.
I went to mysql-common and manually extractet my.cnf buried in this package.
after placing it in /etc/mysql/ I can start mysql server. So I'm guessing that
the old my.cnf from Jaunty must have something wrong that doesn't let it work
with mysql-server from Karmic

[Bug 372040] Re: Request Package of electricsheep 2.7 due to 2.6 EOL

2009-11-27 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
This ppa: https://launchpad.net/~khashayar/+archive/builder has been
posted somewhere within comments on electricsheep's website to Linux
client instructions, and the electricsheep from that ppa seems to be
working for me.

[Bug 194686] Re: Error installing Funguloids: ogre-plugins-cgprogrammanager doesnt exist

2009-11-12 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
yes, there are also several other packages, especially among games, that
are installable because of this ogre-something package dependency. And
since those games are listed within Ubuntu Software Center, I suppose it
could be quite annoying for people that decided to install those few
games ;)

[Bug 425994] Re: Karmic don´t see windows net work

2009-11-07 Thread Grzegorz Śliwiński
Same thing happened to me. Actually it was working on Karmic for the
last two weeks, when I set up my ufw to work with samba, and other home
computers, and suddenly, today I don't have anything in my network
window apart from workgroup, like Fabricio wrote. Same thing happened on
my other ubuntu pc with Ubuntu 9.04 where it was also working fine.

1.
dpkg-query -W -f='${Package} ${Version} ${Source} ${Status}\n' | grep samba:

libpam-smbpass 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 samba install ok installed
libsmbclient 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 samba install ok installed
libwbclient0 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 samba install ok installed
samba 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 install ok installed
samba-common 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 samba install ok installed
samba-common-bin 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 samba install ok installed
smbclient 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5 samba install ok installed

2.
We're using nautilus to connect to samba shares and it works to connect to the
samba shares using smbclient //remote_system/share_name it requires a password
to guest readable shares.

3.
smbclient -L //remote_system
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.3.2]

So, as I understand from the DebugginSamba page, problem is with nautilus.
