Yeah, and in case you get too interested in the gdm and xorg config and logs. Don't. I start Xorg with startx, since my primary Xorg fails. (That's #619990) So please disregard those files. -- [maverick][regression] no mouse pointer visible https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622990 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 622990] [NEW] [maverick][regression] no mouse pointer visible
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I upgraded my system from 10.04 to 10.10 a week ago, and suddenly I have no visible mouse pointer. Not with the synaptics touch pad, nor with an external usb-connected mouse. The mouse pointer still moves around: icons are highlighted when I run the mouse across them, and all buttons still work as they should. (I've enabled some accessibility setting to highlight my pointer whenever I hit Ctrl, so I can still use the mouse to some degree.) This used to work in 10.04. If there's anything more I can provide to help sort this out, let me know. Thanks for all your hard work! [Bug 566379] Re: [i855] X doesn't start with kernel 2.6.32-21 unless passing i915.modeset=1
Just a follow-up on comment #33. After a few minutes running with modeset=1, xorg crashed, and I'm back to the vesa driver. [Bug 566379] Re: [i855] X doesn't start with kernel 2.6.32-21 unless passing i915.modeset=1
I'd just like to add that my Dell x300 machine starts up perfectly (it didn't before), now that I've added i915.modeset=1, just like the original bug report says. Yeah, it's a boring "me too". But I wanted to weigh in since other bug reports hint that KMS was disabled when it was assumed that a few lucid alpha testers that wanted modeset=0 represented a majority. Sure. Here we go, from a fresh krita (2.0.0-0ubuntu1~jaunty1 from backports) and koffice-kde4-dbg. This is from the initial file chooser. [Bug 350280] Re: [jaunty] digikam will not add smb folder
*blush* I should've read the help text more thoroughly. It clearly states that the network folder must be mounted locally before digikam will read it. (For others stumbling into the same darkness: install 'smbfs' and do sudo mount.cifs //box/pics /mnt/pics) So while there is no smb bug in digikam, the source of my confusion remains (and this could be improved): digikam should not silently strip the smb:// url, but display a warning like "note that remote urls are not supported." So while the original problem is moot, I still feel that this is a bug. Sorry for the fuzz. [Bug 227062] [NEW] [regression] Error 28: Selected item cannot fit into memory
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub Sometime between Hardy beta and Hardy, grub stopped booting my Windows Vista partition. Now, when I try to boot the Vista entry from grub, it fails with the following message: " Error 28: Selected item cannot fit into memory Press any key to continue... " My menu.lst was auto-generated by the Hardy beta installer, and I haven't touched it since. I occasionally boot the Vista partition, which worked fine up until a few days ago. Alas, I'm not really able to tell which grub version that caused this. I'll try to re-install some older versions and report back the results. I'm attaching my menu.lst. Please let me know if something else is needed. [Bug 156396] Re: network manager using all of cpu
I'm seeing the same thing, only my desktop system has not been asleep, just inactive for some time. The applet claims to be connected to a wlan with an ESSID of '(unknown)'. There are no available networks in the network list, and the cpu is spinning at 93%-99%. My network uses WPA2 authentication. FWIW, I've seen the same error both on KDE (KNetworkManager -- upgraded from Feisty) and Gnome (freshly installed). Is there any way to provide something (e.g logs) that will help track this down? -- network manager using all of cpu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156396 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
