[Bug 479429] Re: mountall hangs on tmpfs mount to /var/log and /var/tmp

2010-01-22 Thread Holger Krause
My system was configured to use tmpfs for /var/log, /var/log/apt and
/var/tmp before upgrading to karmic. On the first boot after the upgrade
the message waiting for tmpfs was reported for /var/log/apt. Disabling
the entries for /var/log/apt and /var/tmp allowed for an uninterrupted
boot. Still /var/log was mounted as tmpfs! Today I changed /etc/fstab to
also mount /var/tmp as tmpfs, which also works.

This is the current /etc/fstab I use:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# file system mount point type options dump pass
proc/proc procdefaults0 0
# /dev/sda1
UUID=f1698a06-f89d-4438-a887-a4205ae1f8bf /   ext2
noatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1
# /dev/sda5
UUID=efc9ca27-b198-4827-a223-68248ad3d7bb noneswapsw
  0 0
#tmpfs /var/log/apttmpfs defaults0 0
tmpfs /var/logtmpfs defaults0 0
tmpfs /tmptmpfs defaults0 0
tmpfs /var/tmptmpfs defaults0 0

mountall-Version is 1.0

The only difference I see to the original bug description are the
missing options. In a second try, I inactivated the /var/tmp mount and
added options to the /var/log mount:

tmpfs /var/logtmpfs
defaults,noatime,size=50%,mode=17770 0

Still the system boots uninterrupted and /var/log is mounted as tmpfs
(as shown by mount).

Conclusion: I can't reproduce the bug given the original description.

Thanks.

From

it seems that the tex-package glossary is part of the package

Shouldn't the tex-package glossaries also belong to the package

I guess, that this is not entirely an growisofs bug.

[Bug 357635] Re: KAddressBook: Selecting a contact with multiple email addresses pops up a dialog

2009-05-16 Thread Holger Krause
Why is this bug marked fixed in ubuntu, when there's no fixed version
in the official repositories (like updates or proposed-updates)? Maybe
I'm mistaken, but I would neither regard a package in a PPA nor in a
backport archive as an official fix to a bug. As the fix is also
backported upstream to the 4.2 branch
(http://websvn.kde.org/?view=revrevision=953498) I'm asking to include
it in a stable release update. Also IMHO the importance should be higher
than low as the bug makes the addressbook unusable for people with
many contacts with multiple email addresses as reported above.

There's a PPA for freenx-server maintained by freenx-Team available at

AFAIK there won't be any packages in official repositories any time

[Bug 273973] [NEW] include graphics function allows to choose filenames containing spaces despite latex being unable to handle them

Kile offers via the LaTeX menu the possibility to include a graphics
file via a graphical dialogue. In this GUI it's possible to select a

Thank you all for the work done so far.

I installed the binary packages from gutsy-proposed. I'm sorry to say,
that they don't pass the test case described in comment #34 in a
satisfactory way: Only the first video on youtube is displayed correctly
(although nspluginviewer takes lot of CPU capacity). But when following
a link to a second video, the video area is rendered grey and only audio
is working. Sometimes I get a message saying that nspluginviewer crashed

P.S.: I just had a look at the backup log, which dates back to

P.P.S.: I'm not sure, wether I should change the bug status?

With kubuntu 6.10 I experienced similiar problems when directing the
syslog-stream of my DSL-router to the PC: Booting took several minutes
and also logging in and off, if I remember correctly. I didn't bother
with parameter ordering, but used the facility in /etc/defaults/syslogd
to add th '-r' option:

SYSLOGD=-r

This works without any delays with kubuntu 7.04.

[Bug 102025] Re: [need-packaging] NoMachine NX server and client

2007-04-06 Thread Holger Krause
Still it would be nice to have an official freenx.deb, containing the
recent 2.x version instead of the old 1.5 version. As far as I know the
2.x client doesn't work with the 1.5 server
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX). What I personally would like
to see is CUPS support working in kubuntu.

kNX: I don't know much about this implementation, but from what I read
some weeks ago on the mailing list, it seems to have not much active
development. My impression is, that the kNX mailing list is mainly used
for FreeNX development.

[Bug 102025] FreeNX provides server package for debian/ubuntu

2007-04-04 Thread Holger Krause
At least for the server there's an alternative upstream source: the
FreeNX implementation, which itself is based on NoMachine's code. It
recently released a version, which supports the 2.1 version of
NoMachine's nxclient. I installed it successfully on kubuntu 6.10.

I couldn't find the debs on the FreeNX project page at
