[Bug 542816] Re: Firefox continously closing

2010-04-28 Thread Hurin
Firefox 3.6 did not hep much, problem persists.

I am now trying to debug it, but when I try to start it in debug mode,
after installing the symbols as instructed here

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs?action=show&redirect=DebuggingFirefox

I get the following:

u...@computer:~$ gdb /usr/lib/firefox-3*/firefox 2>&1 | tee /tmp/gdb-firefox.txt

For bug reporting instructions, please see:

Firefox is not running when I issue the command. Am I doing something wrong
here? Symbols show installed.

[Bug 508482] Re: Ubuntu One doesn't sync after power suspend

2010-03-21 Thread Hurin
Joshua mentioned this might be a duplicate of bug 457147. However we
were to verify based on the exception logs, which I don't see of much
help since they are empty after the problem occurs. Would like to know
what other log might we collect to troubleshoot this.

[Bug 542816] [NEW] Firefox continously closing

2010-03-20 Thread Hurin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

Constantly, firefox closes out.
Reopening doesn show an option to restore previous tabs, it just opens them all
from previous session.
Sometimes when this starts occurring, it may happen 10 times in few minutes.
Gets terribly annoying.
Have to restart the machine.

Let me know what logs may I provide.

Thanks.

[Bug 508482] Re: Ubuntu One doesn't sync after power suspend

2010-01-24 Thread Hurin
Ok I got it to happen again.

- Hibernated
- Waked up.
- After some work with Netbeans IDE saved my files into DropBox folder.
- Opened UbuntuOne folder
- Copied the same folder I saved in DropBox folder
- Clicked on the "Connect" button
- The button changed to "Disconnect" but I didn't get the little cloud icon to
apear in the upper panel tray
- No sign of outgoing traffic in the System Monitor panel
- No OSD saying files were being synced
- No sign of the files on the web administration page
- Clicked "Disconnect"
- Clicked "Connect" again but nothing happened, it stays as "Connect"
regardless how many times I press it
- A packet capture didn't show anything simiar to IP 91.189.89.218 whatsoever

Unfortunately the exceptions log corresponding to when this happen is
empty. So I kill the process showing with a ps -A|grep ubuntu and
refreshed the folder, still an empty log. I'm attaching the regular log
nevertheless.

Regards,

2010-01-23 Thread Hurin
Sure thing Joshua. Here are the files since, but Im looking to reproduce
the problem and get you some fresh logs about it, I haven't really used
Ubuntu One since this problem and had to start using DropBox (some other
compatibility issues changed my mind as well), but I will definitely
help as much as I can to see this fixed in this bug or the one I
duplicated.

[Bug 508482] [NEW] Ubuntu One doesn't sync after power suspend

2010-01-16 Thread Hurin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I have a load of archives that I put in my Ubuntu ONe folder. I clic the
"Connect" button and it starts syncing. However if I suspend the
machine, regardless of whether I Disconnected from the server or not,
after resuming the connection doesn't work.

I click the COnnect button and nothing happens, I cant see orange
traffic in my System MOnitor applet (upload traffic). I have to kill
Ubuntuone-syncdaemon and click the Connect button for it to start.

[Bug 196277] Re: A GNOME login without keypress dosn't set GNOME keyboard settings

2009-10-18 Thread Hurin
Affected by this bug too.

Hardy Heron 2.6.24-24-generic
Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
GDM set to autologin
Right ALT key set to Composite
After reboot or suspend the key doesn't do composite functions any more

setxkbmap workaround sounds buggy as it doesn't seem to be clean when in
combination of xmodmap settings.

Waiting for freedesktops-bugs page to announce the VERIFIED fix.

[Bug 424349] [NEW] C-Media USB Headphone not connected after resuming from hibernate

2009-09-04 Thread Hurin
Public bug reported:

When power up my PC from a Shutdown state, I can go to System >
Preferences > Sound and choose my C-Media USB Headphones to direct audio
to my headset.

After resuming from Hibernate state, going to the same place will result
in what I have captured in the screen-shot (SoundPreferences-
NoUSBHeadset.png):

"USB Audio (Not connected)"

And no audio will be heard on my headset.

I have to restart the machine to make it work.

This is my production PC, I would like some advise to run a command or a
script that will reconnect the device to my computer accordingly so I
don't have to restart it after resuming from Hibernate, which makes it
senseless to use Hibernate if you then have to restart...

Let me know if I can provide command outputs or debugs for this matter.

Same deal here.

Asus Crosshair
nVidia GTS 8800
AMD 5600

Few seconds after logging in, system locks up.

Tried creating a virtual machine, install the OS again (BTW 64-Bits),
update, then remastersys to burn an image already updated.

Had no chance to update. The system barely shows the Update Manager and
then hangs.

Anything I can do to make this work will gladly try. This distro is
useless as it is right now for me. Downloading 8.04.1.

I am able to write to my Panasonic DVD-RAMs product model LM-AF120LU5
without any problem in uindous, but for some reason Ubuntu doesn't
support writing. It only mounts the FS and reads from it. If I and try to delete some file inside, I get "Error
removing file: Read-only file system". An attempt to write on returns:
"The destination is read-only."

Isn't libudf0 meant to add write support?

[Bug 253332] Re: networking disable after resuming from hibernate

2008-08-12 Thread Hurin
Hello, I recently realized that while in Ubuntu, my CPU fan will stop for
several minutes.
I see through the case how the blades receive little pulses and moves a bit but
it doesn't spin!
After a while it turns on again
I don't experience this while in Windows for 2 or 3 hours
Wondering if this should be a bug by itself or if it related to hibernation
problems
I've read around that many laptops have similar problems after hibernate

What is the next step on this troubleshooting?

[Bug 253332] [NEW] networking disable after resuming from hibernate

2008-07-30 Thread Hurin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hibernate

I've been trying several days now to use hibernate instead of shut down,
mostly because the session starts faster, I only have to enter my pass,
and because my previous programs remain there open.

HOWEVER, the problem is that these 3 last times my networking system returns
disable after resuming from hibernate
I can see the red x over the network icon on the right top, and if I right
click to enable networking, the check mark is already on.

Switching from enable to disable and vice versa won't work.

Today, I was not even able to see the network icon.

So far the solution is to reset the system.

Any ideas on how to correct this please?

[Bug 252808] Re: Thunderbird closes unexpectedly

2008-07-29 Thread Hurin
I finished watching an .avi video using Totem and close it afterwards
Then I opened Thunderbird as usual to send my daily website emails
I opened one of the many many templates I use for email and began filling it
with new info
TB crashed at the very beginning
I reopened TB and took out the template again but it crashed immediately
Then I opened TB for the thrd time and saw that the template was saved as draft
I took out the draft, opened FF and clicked a bookmark which leads to this URL:
http://evangeli.net/evangelio.html
and I put very few info into the message and then FF crashed also, I save it
again and choose to report a bug through TB
When TB opened FF to report a bug, something happened and the frames of the
windows disappeared.
No close, minimize, maximize buttons or whatsoever
No window decoration to put it that way.
Had to shut down the machine

[Bug 252159] [NEW] KCHM viewer will not open .chm files

2008-07-26 Thread Hurin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I installed kchm viewer using ADD/REMOVE synaptic
After installation I right-clicked a .chm document and instructed Nautilus to
open such files with KCHM viewer
Then I doubled clicked the chm file and got an error message (see pic below)
This happens on another computer but with 32Bit Ubuntu.

Why this error occurs?
How to fix it?
Is it Nautilus the one who collects the instruction to open a file type with a
specific application?

Thank you

[Bug 236444] [NEW] System says no sound card configured

2008-05-31 Thread Hurin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I took my desktop to another place and installed several programs in the
other operating system parition (non unix-based OS). When I came back
home and booted from the new kernel entry in grub, 2.6.24-17-server,
(this I took from uname -a, don't know why it says server), I could hear
no sound, and the mixer icon in the top menu had the mute white cross.
So I clicked it and the error box in the attachment showed up.

If I choose to boot from previous kernel in grub options, then
everything works. What is going on? What should I do to reconfigure the
sound card?

[Bug 230356] [NEW] Firefox 3b5 crashes infinetely

2008-05-14 Thread Hurin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I installed Hardy Heron 64bits last night
Also installed several software packages like udftools and JRE 6.0
No flash plugin yet
Im using a profile located on my data hard disk so I can use it in my windows
partition too
Firefox had about 5 or 6 tabs opened at the time of the crashes
The first time it crash after hitting the "C" key in gmail to compose new mail.
The program closed by itself
Then I opened FF again and it offered me to restore previous session, which I
did
Again the same problem occurred 5 more times soon after the browser was opened

NOTE: I use firefox 2 in the windows environment with the same profile
After the problems and before this bug was written, flash player installation
failed 3 times. The 4th was successful and you see me writing the bug.
