[Bug 858775] [NEW] gnome-keyring-daemon hogs CPU in Oneiric

2011-09-25 Thread Ilkka Laukkanen
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded my Nokia Booklet to Oneiric, and noticed that gnome-
keyring-daemon is using about 40% CPU all the time.

Here's a snippet from strace:
time(NULL) = 1316942473
times({tms_utime=10433, tms_stime=907, tms_cutime=112, tms_cstime=7}) =

getrusage(RUSAGE_SELF, {ru_utime={104, 342521}, ru_stime={9, 72567}, ...}) = 0

It seems to be spinning within dbus_connection_dispatch, I'll see if I
can come up with a backtrace.

gnome-keyring is version 3.1.92-0ubuntu1.

The system differs from a normal Oneiric install in one regard: for some
reason I can't get gdm to start on login, so it actually boots into a
console and I sudo start gdm from there. Don't know if it affects
anything.

[Bug 726021] [NEW] update-grub handles vg names with dashes incorrectly

2011-02-27 Thread Ilkka Laukkanen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub2

When update-grub is probing for bootable partitions from logical
volumes, it creates incorrect menu entries if the volume group names
have dashes in them. Apparently the parameter format for the set root
='(vg-lv)' should be exactly the same as the device node name in
/dev/mapper, or /dev/mapper/vg-lv in the above case. However, for a
volume group called vg-0 having a logical volume root, the dash gets
sorta-escaped so that the mapper node path is /dev/mapper/vg--0-root;
update-grub still puts '(vg-0-root)' as the root parameter however. This
causes the menu entries to become unbootable, and if the grub
configuration itself resides on such an lvm volume, the whole system
becomes unbootable.

[Bug 490811] Re: mesa-common-dev should depend on libdrm-dev

2010-03-22 Thread Ilkka Laukkanen
Actually it seems to be an issue in other scenarios as well: I couldn't
get pkg-config to give me cflags or libs for one specific library, even
though that library's dependencies were fully satisfied, and I was
mystified until I tried running pkg-config --list-all and saw the
error message pertaining to a missing drm.pc. After installing libdrm-
dev, everything worked fine. So this can affect other people as well.
Besides, at the end of the day, isn't this still a broken package that
should get fixed?

[Bug 490811] [NEW] mesa-common-dev should depend on libdrm-dev

2009-12-01 Thread Ilkka Laukkanen
Public bug reported:

In a fresh Karmic installation it is possible to get to the point where
one has no broken packages but pkg-config fails with the message
Package libdrm was not found in the pkg-config search path

This is due to /usr/lib/pkgconfig/dri.pc, installed by mesa-common-dev,
having the line

Requires.private: libdrm = 2.4.3

but mesa-common-dev does not depend on libdrm-dev, which is the package
that installs /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libdrm.pc. Thus mesa-common-dev needs
to depend on libdrm.dev.

[Bug 428435] Re: luks encrypted partition not detected or mounted automatically

2009-10-19 Thread Ilkka Laukkanen
Here's a version of the Python script that I slightly modified so that
it will run (at least the check part) in Jaunty. The difference is
that Jaunty's blkid doesn't recognize the -p parameter and the format of
the partition ID lines is slightly different. Same caveats as the
original.

Now that I thought to check it, Karmic's blkid reports its version so
that the version check in fix_superblock_jaunty.py will not work
correctly. So, DON'T USE fix_superblock_jaunty.py IN KARMIC. Probably
you shouldn't use it at all.

[Bug 415278] [NEW] Autoreconf in unfs3 mount hangs

2009-08-18 Thread Ilkka Laukkanen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unfs3

Source package: unfs3
Package version: 0.9.22+dfsg-1
Architecture: i386
Uname: Linux 2.6.31-6-generic i386
Distro version: Ubuntu 9.10

Trying to run autoreconf for an autotools project in a directory mounted
via unfs3 always hangs in autom4te execution. The exported directory is
itself on an encryptfs mount (encrypted home directory configured in
Ubuntu installer). The export is mounted on a VirtualBox VM running
Karmic netbook remix. The same project will successfully be bootstrapped
if autoreconf is run in the exported directory, not the nfs mount.

A test project is attached.

How to reproduce:
1) Extract attached tarball to a directory on an encryptfs mount (encrypted
home directory configured in Ubuntu installer)
2) Export resultant directory via unfs3
3) Mount said export in a VirtualBox VM running Karmic netbook remix
4) Run autoreconf -v -d -i

Expected results:
- Autoreconf completes successfully

Actual results:
- Autoreconf hangs after this output:
aclocal: running autom4te --language Autoconf-without-aclocal-m4
--trace='AC_DEFUN:$f::$n::$1' --trace='AC_DEFUN_ONCE:$f::$n::$1'

[Bug 317801] [NEW] GOB2_CHECK macro doesn't produce an error if gob is not found

2009-01-16 Thread Ilkka Laukkanen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gob2

Ubuntu release 8.10
package version 2.0.15-1

The m4 macro GOB2_CHECK in gob2.m4 is meant to be used with Autoconf to
check that gob2 is installed and to put the path to it into the @GOB2@
subst variable. It correctly exits with an error if the version
restrictions are not met, but if gob2 is not found at all, it simply
outputs a warning message. This creates a situation where packages that
depend on gob2 to build are configured correctly, but building fails.

GOB2_CHECK should exit with AC_MSG_ERROR if gob2 is not found.
