I did not delete the example. The file has 5 MB and was not attached
when I sent the message. Now I will use a public Ubuntu One link for the
example:

http://ubuntuone.com/3O64HW4V1L9LxpFbRwNkqH

The example has sounds of lighting a match on each 5.1 speaker, and a seventh
match heard on all speakers.
I succesfully played this in Debian Gnu/Linux on 5.1 speakers only with Amarok
with libxine1-ffmpeg installed and in Windows with Winamp having Winamp AC3
Filter plugin.

I thank you for your good work.

[Bug 344588]

2011-01-09 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Applications that have support 5.1 channel support, work only with Wine
and I also need because they work better than GNU/Linux applications for
a specific task:

-WinampAC3Filter plugin for Winamp (Winamp is the only application that
has a decent playlist with perfectly optimized controls imho - I mean I
can set the imput plugins to display something like "Artist - Album -
string of my choosing.filetype - another string of my choosing")

-older games that rely much on multichannel to inform the player of the
position of things all around like: Counter Strike, Star Trek Armada II,
Homeworld 1 2, Giants - Citizen Kabuto, Command and Conquer 1 2 3

-take utorrent for example - the programmers use the Wine platform to
make sure it will work very well in Windows. Programmers may (imho they
already) use Wine to check games for Windows and even compiling them
using Wine libraries to make them go faster and smoother and would be
very happy to not have to load Windows instead of Wine just to test if
multichannel sounds work properly

-I am sure I will have more and more needs to use multichannel in Wine
as time passes (for example 3D max Studio or Adobe * - make movies in
multichannel and view them without rendering just to check sounds)

[Bug 585603] [NEW] graphical nonresponsivness while "gitk" on linux kernel source

2010-05-25 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: git-core

Be ready to eventually use the reset button while replicating this bug !
1) I made the following commands:

git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git
git branch spellcheck
git checkout spellcheck
gitk

And when I run gitk, it begins loading rows, and the more I let it load
rows, the more it blocks the mouse, the desktop, etc. until it is
eventually killed automatically.

2) The same problem has been observed with another set of commands, done
a week or so apart:

git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-
next.git

...(one week or so has passed)...

cd linux-next
git pull

And it begins working, and having an ext2 file system it starts to say:

Too many files (created x deleted y), skipping inexact rename detection

for about four times, where x and y are numbers of hundreds or thousands,
and then just does nothing except using the hard disk continually and
blocking the desktop. This second set of commands requires a push of
the reset button, as it is not killed automatically.

[Bug 464382] Re: [karmic] *AGAIN* after upgrade clean install to 9.10 sound gets lost

2009-10-31 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Pulseaudio works on restart, then if sound is played for a few seconds the
daemon hangs but does not close.
I have found a soution while googling and says: open synaptic, and in the same
session:

pulseaudio -> completely remove
esound ->install (and if it already is, reinstall)

This cripples sound for Totem, Rhithmbox and all other based gtk
applications, but the sound keeps working for system sounds (boot music,
drum when a question window pops up) and you can install the next
replacers:

xine-ui - replaces totem
aqualung - replaces rhithmbox

[Bug 365039] [NEW] installer does not start in Qemu 0.9.1

2009-04-22 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Public bug reported:

I have Qemu 0.9.1 on Windows and I can start Windows 98, Windows XP, Debian
Etch, Debian Lenny, Ubuntu 8.10 in it, all with romanian language selected
during installation.
ubuntu-9.04-rc-desktop-i386.iso does not start when I select romanian during
installation.
It only says:

[ 0.00] ACPI: no DMI BIOS year, acpi=force is required to enable acpi
[ 12.728930] pci :00:01.0: PIIX3: Enabling Passive Release
[ 13.692136] IO APIC resources could be not be allocated.
Loading, please wait...

And then it shows the loading annimation, and just that.
This is a critical bug - not even the installation ?!
I have set up this starting command for Qemu:

qemu.exe -L . -m 512 -soundhw all -localtime -M pc -cdrom J:

or

qemu-img create minidisk.img 3948M

[Bug 309922] [NEW] soundconverter no option to select version of the encoder

2008-12-20 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: soundconverter

This is a critical bug since Winamp and Amarok 1.4.1 do not support FLAC 8
but support FLAC 6. A lot of people depend on Amarok since it is the only
player with a good playlist that can play 6 channel DTS and AC3.
I think soundconverter should have a selection box near each selection in
"Type of result ?" in witch for example for FLAC, version 6 or version 8 can
be selected.

Thank you.

I also submitted bug 305971 reffering to allowing 6 channels in Rhythmbox,
and if that bug is solved, I will mark this bug as solved also.

And I also did
gksudo gedit /etc/init.d/alsa-utils

stop)
ifconfig wlan0 down
ifconfig eth0 down
EXITSTATUS=0
...
witch fixes shutting down, but maybe also this.

[Bug 305971] [NEW] rhythmbox surround sound 5.1 output option not available

2008-12-07 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When I open .dts .ac3 audio files (see for example Jean Michelle Jarrre - Aero
2004),
I do not get 5.1 separate sounds on 6 speakers, but only downmixed stereo 2
speakers.
Totem has 5.1 option, witch allows 6 different speaker sounds, in:
Edit->Preferences
Sound tab
and it just works for this /etc/asound.conf and /home/user/.asoundrc text file:

pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm "softvol"
}

pcm.softvol {
type softvol
slave {
pcm "ch51dup"

[Bug 304936] [NEW] armonic echo with variable volume while listening music

2008-12-03 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Public bug reported:

Totem, Audacious work well with video files with sound.
But when I play mp3, flac, an armonicl echo keeps increasing,
then when it reaches maximum levels, it falls, then increases
again, keeping shades of precedent increases.
This problem does not appear with midi files.
This problem does not appear in Wine.

I have installed gstreamer0.10* as codecs.
But if I remember correctly, flac was working as default
and this problem was there, so gstreamer is not tha bad one.

Anyway, running ./configure make sudo make install works like a charm.
Besides, Debian has it on its distribution DVD's as deb (if I remember
correctly).

I do a fresh install of Ubuntu Intrepid final release.
In abaout 10% chances, when I turn off or restart my computer,
it just freezes at about 25% progress:

and reset is the only option, although after pressing ALT the "-"
flashes.

[Bug 224122] Re: Installing without Internet access causes repositories are not properly configured

2008-10-07 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Yeah what about ISP's that stop some people internet connection for a few days
- installation without
internet should be the default in Ubuntu.

And this is very bad - instead of loading packages from the available cd, the
mirroring sites
are overloaded. Mirror sites should be stopped by default.

And what if a complete internet stall because of some disaster or a bad man
that coded
a multios multiplatform virus for stalling it comes ? Without an internet
connection ubuntu
must not be useless or faulty.
The questions like 'need to download support for that' should be more rare.

By the way - Star Trek Voyager Intrepid Class did not have an internet
connection.
That can happen nowadays with a computer... or ship... or starship.

[Bug 279674] [NEW] install setup desired repository server

2008-10-07 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

During the install setup, this question should apear before accesing the
repositories:
Desired repository is: local server (default) or main server ?

The local repository may lead to a faulty install in some areas
so allow the user to make a new install with the main server if that happens.
I had this problem in intrepid beta where my country's repository was not
updated
with all the packages I requested and I had to select the main server.

The cdimage.ubuntu.com Intrepid beta DVD was using the main repository server
and by
the way -> had far fewer errors then the Intrepid beta CD. Are they released
differently or what ?

[Bug 278263] [NEW] battle just started game is missing from repositories

2008-10-04 Thread Iuga Marian Silviu
Public bug reported:

The free game distributed as .tar.gz source is not
present in any of the repositories stated in synaptic:

http://bjs.sourceforge.net/

I think these game deserves to be in your universe repository.
I've made a group of fans of this game in my entourage and
we all want to skip having to compile this game with each
ubuntu install, witch takes some time... losing points along the way.
If I am not correct, you know what to do.

Thank you.

P.S.

I can't be a maintainer because I never manage to make a flawless .deb
from a .tar.gz (don't know how to apply changes to the original source).
