[Bug 1872073] Re: firefox can't access internet after libgd3 update to new version 2.2.5-4ubuntu 0.4 linux mint tricia bionic
It turns out if I turn off the umatrix extension, firefox works again. So must be conflict between umatrix and libgd3. Chromium works fine with all the extensions I have installed. But yes. I have to turn off umatrix extension to use firefox under libgd3. [Bug 1714886] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in meta_window_is_on_primary_monitor()
Well i didnt think of that, so I tried it, too. When I turn off my Display that is connected via Displayport, the Gnomeshell is killed after turning the Screen on again. After turning on the Screen the login-window can be seen. When you log in, its a new Session. That would explain why in Bug #1718671 the session is only crashing after when you want to unlock the Screen, because the Display was turned off after locking the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714886 Title: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in meta_window_is_on_primary_monitor() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1714886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 914991]
(In reply to Hartmut Figge from comment #83) I have just seen something related. The names of the last 6 of my news accounts are changed by inserting multiple times the string 'hafi'. (...) If you rewrite the strings, the issue becomes clearer: hafi news hafi 1.open-news- hafi network.org hafi hafi read hafi .news.telefo hafi nica.de hafi hafi news hafi .alice-dsl.d hafi e hafi hafi free hafi news.netfron hafi t.net hafi hafi news hafi .tota-refugi hafi um.dehafi hafi news hafi .online.de hafi So in between hafis there are parts of certain lengths (4, up to 12, rest) of the old account name, and hafi is both at the beginning and end of all strings. As I already noted on the newsgroups (somewhere...), I've seen this bug years ago but was never able to reproduce it. Thanks to your list of broken strings (heh) I was able to track it down this time: I'm 99% sure nsMsgIncomingServer::OnUserOrHostNameChanged is the culprit. As the name implies, a username or password change triggers a renaming of the account name (prettyName internally): replace all occurrences of old name in the acct name with the new one. It seems the code is not always doing the right thing (maybe if oldName or newName are empty?). Do you remember what exactly you did and what you entered? In any case I'm pretty sure the issue you see is not this bug, so please file a new one (Product MailNews Core), CC me and post the bug number here for reference (I'm not a back-end guy so we'll need help there). [Bug 779110] Re: suspend fails on powerpc 2.6.38-1 in IOCTL PMU_IOC_SLEEP

[Bug 779110] [NEW] suspend fails on powerpc 2.6.38-1 in IOCTL PMU_IOC_SLEEP
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-powerpc On PowerPC, G4 tibook, suspend worked fine for kernels 2.6.38-1 and earlier. In kernel 2.6.38-8 and later (the kernels in between did not boot on PPC), suspend fails. This appears to be because the recent kernels do not suspend when the PMU_IOC_SLEEP is issued. This is quite easily demonstrated: 1. Create the following file (pmus.pl), lifted directly from /usr/lib /pm-utils/pm-functions #!/usr/bin/perl sub PMU_IOC_SLEEP { 0x20004200; } open PMU, /dev/pmu or die open /dev/pmu: $!; ioctl PMU, PMU_IOC_SLEEP, 0; On 2.6.38-1, running the perl script causes the system to suspend. On 2.6.38-8 and later (including the current 11.10 kernel), the script executes, but the system does not suspend. ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779110 Title: suspend fails on powerpc 2.6.38-1 in IOCTL PMU_IOC_SLEEP -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 642895] [NEW] Cannot change password in Maverick PPC
Public bug reported: It is not possible to change a user password in Maverick on PPC e.g. (here I'm using old and new as examples as user luser $ passwd Changing password for luser. (current) UNIX password: old Enter new UNIX password: new Retype new UNIX password: new passwd: password updated successfully $ su - luser Password: new su: Authentication failure # sudo (user is permitted), login etc all fail. Now, put the password back to what is was before, and su, sudo, login all work again. $ passwd Changing password for luser. (current) UNIX password: new Enter new UNIX password: old Retype new UNIX password: old passwd: password updated successfully $ su - luser Password: old # This works ## Note the above is done using ssh, with the password cut and pasted from another session in order to preclude typos. It does not matter whether the new password contains any particular characters. There is also a around 3 second window, using copy and paste, where after a password change, the new password works ***once***, if it is entered very quickly after the change. But it never works again, apart from in passwd. Bizarre. -jh Further info: $ apt-cache policy passwd passwd: Installed: 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu3 0 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ maverick/main powerpc Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy login login: Installed: 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:4.1.4.2-1ubuntu3 0 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ maverick/main powerpc Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy sudo sudo: Installed: 1.7.2p7-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 1.7.2p7-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1.7.2p7-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ maverick/main powerpc Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu maverick (development branch) Release:10.10 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot change password in Maverick PPC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/642895 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks
Yet another view: Asus EeePC 901 rt2860sta was fine on Karmic, including hidden ESSID and WPA/WPA2 on Lucid, 2.6.32-21 or 2.6.32-22, the ESSID must be broadcast and either of WPA / WPA2 works, but not combined. With the Ricardo Salveti kernel, or mainline ppa 2.6.33 / 2.6.34 lucid, ESSID must be broadcast, combined WPA/WPA2 works, but there are undesirable side effects, namely the machine will fail to resume from suspend, or will fail to reboot / restart, requiring disconnection from mains power and removal of the battery to even get back to the BIOS boot screen. The standard Ubuntu kernels do not have this adverse affect. For 2.6.32-22 (not not try -21), the vendor driver is can be manually brought up, but is not recognised by g-n-m. So for me, there is only one workaround: Ubuntu kernel, broadcast ESSID and use only one of WPA or WPA2. An unfortunate regression. I hope any potential fix is well tested on a good cross section of hardware. -jh -- [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496093 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 456306] Re: Badness at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/kernel/irq/manage.c:272
Hi Jeremy, I haven't seen this bug in either the recent Karmic kernels, upstream or current Lucid, so I guess it's been fixed somewhere. Sorry for not tracking in a bit more closely. It should be closed (IMHO). -jh -- Badness at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.31/kernel/irq/manage.c:272 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456306 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 455723] Re: ppc kernel crash on pccard insertion
There appears to be no installable package for the architecture (ppc) that this bugs affects, which makes testing the fix less easy. Hi, I can confirm this is fixed in kernel.org releases for a while now.
