[Bug 1514205] Re: Selections (from extension "Selections") is not saved when gthumb is closed

2017-11-06 Thread Jan Rüegg
It's a feature, not a bug! See:
https://github.com/GNOME/gthumb/blob/master/NEWS

version 3.5.2
-
 * Selections: save at exit and restore at start.

version 3.5.4
-
 * Do not save selections. This broke workflows where selections were involved.

[Bug 1714956] Re: OpenJDK segfaults randomly when running jenkins

2017-09-05 Thread Jan Rüegg
I did attach the hs_err file, I remember typing the description, there
must have been some error during upload.

Anyway, uploaded it again, hope this time it works.

[Bug 1714956] [NEW] OpenJDK segfaults randomly when running jenkins

2017-09-04 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

OpenJDK segfaults regularly while running jenkins. This happens about
once every few hours (sometimes more often), without any appareant
reason. Often when doing something in the jenkins web UI, but not always
the same action triggers the problem.

[Bug 554855] Re: After suspend-resume on a duel screen setup, display settings are set to 'mirror screens'

2010-09-16 Thread Jan Rüegg
Doesn't seem to be fixed for me... I have the exact same problem that is
described at the beginning:

"After suspend-resume with an external monitor and a laptop (embedded
intel graphics), display settings are set to 'mirror screens'. The user
must enter the Display preferences and re-configure the screens."

I'm on an up-to-date 10.04 64-bit lucid system.

What I can see, also, is that the screen is set to "mirror screens"
during suspend, and not resume. I can see on the external monitor that
the resolution changes on the attached second screen when suspending,
and it stays when I resume.

[Bug 59893] Re: changing to fcron removes ubuntu-desktop and autoremove wants to remove a lot of packages

2010-05-14 Thread Jan Rüegg
I absolutely agree to Bernhard. Wouldn't it be bet to let fcron
"provide" anacron, for example, so that you could install fcron while
still keeping ubuntu-desktop?

This would also be much cleaner on upgrades to new Ubuntu releases, where I now
have each time to:
- remove fcron
- install ubuntu-desktop
- upgrade
- remove ubuntu-desktop
- reinstall fcron

...

[Bug 342411] Re: Clock Calendar shows Sunday at the start of the week

2009-08-19 Thread Jan Rüegg
No, this doesn't seem to be the problem.

Here with me, the locale - setting is changed so Monday should be the
start of week, and in the gnome-panel clock applet it works as it should
and shows Monday as the start. But in gnome-do, the calendar shows after
a restart and everything still sunday...

And as far as I know, the panel clock applet of gnome takes the setting
also from the locales, because in both cases you cannot set the start of
week in any "settings" dialogue...

[Bug 329330] [NEW] gkrellm crashes upon start with "floating point exception"

2009-02-14 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gkrellm

I have no idea what changed, but since the last boot, gkrellm crashes
upon starting with the message:

"gkrellm floating point exception: (initializing)" in the console and in

strangely, starting it with "gkrellm --demo" works fine.

[Bug 301723] Re: ffmpeg -i crashes with segmentation fault

2008-11-29 Thread Jan Rüegg
Trying

apt-get build-dep ffmpeg-debian
apt-get source ffmpeg-debian

I got "make -f debian/rules build-stamp-shared

DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS are:
Using as CFLAGS:

Instead, I tried:

[Bug 301723] Re: ffmpeg -i crashes with segmentation fault

2008-11-25 Thread Jan Rüegg
Ok, I compiled now from SVN with the default options ("./configure"
without arguments).

I get:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/linux/ffmpeg$ ffmpeg -i /media/Synology/The\ Matrix\ -\ HD\
720p\ x264.mkv
FFmpeg version SVN-r15935, Copyright (c) 2000-2008 Fabrice Bellard, et al.
  configuration:
  libavutil 49.12. 0 / 49.12. 0
  libavcodec52. 3. 0 / 52. 3. 0
  libavformat 52.23. 1 / 52.23. 1
  libavdevice 52. 1. 0 / 52. 1. 0
  built on Nov 25 2008 17:23:31, gcc: 4.3.2
/media/Synology/The Matrix - HD 720p x264.mkv: memory allocation error occurred

Cutting down the file into a smaller as described on the link makes the
recognition work, so I cannot provide a sample file:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dd if=/media/Synology/The\ Matrix\ -\ HD\ 720p\ x264.mkv
of=/home/jan/Desktop/sample-file.mkv bs=1024 count=1
1+0 records in
1+0 records out
1024 bytes (10 MB) copied, 4.33087 s, 2.4 MB/s
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ file -i /home/jan/Desktop/sample-file.mkv
/home/jan/Desktop/sample-file.mkv: application/octet-stream

But that means, it must be the big size of the file, that causes the
problem (ffmpeg -i on all the other files in my media library worked).

Now the desired gdb ffmpeg_g output:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/linux/ffmpeg$ gdb ffmpeg_g

[Bug 292526] Re: nautilus does not preview NEF images

2008-11-02 Thread Jan Rüegg
Thanks for the answer, but I just solved the problem: Apparently there
was some problem with the nautilus-gconf-settings of the former (pre-
Intrepid) nautilus-version.

That made nautilus not doing these thumbnails, and it also prevented it
from auto-mounting usb- and flash-media.

Doing a "rm -r ~/.gconf/apps/nautilus/" and doing a log-out and log-in
again solved all the problems!

So, marking as "invalid" in this sense. Although it's kind of a
misbehavior and not too obvious to solve, it's not really a bug.

[Bug 292526] [NEW] nautilus does not preview NEF images

2008-11-02 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

Nautilus does not preview my NEF (RAW-) images. It does preview all the
other images (png, jpeg, ...), and I can also open the NEF images with
gthumb (full image) or eog (small (preview?) - image).

I tried "rm -r .thumbnails" and installed the gnome-raw-thumbnailer, but
both did not help.

But, strangely, as soon as I have opened one of the images in eye of
gnome, then that (and only that) image gets previewed.

Seems like eog creates a thumbnail of the nefs when opening them, but
nautilus does not by default.

I'm runnung an up-to-date (backports) Intrepid.

[Bug 131818] Re: Eject key doesn't work on Apple MacBook / MacBook Pro

2008-11-02 Thread Jan Rüegg
I can confirm that it works with pommed.

But I think, one shouldn't *have* to install that to get it to work.
especially when it worked before without extra software...

[Bug 195180] Re: user-mountable (nfs) filesystems are not showing up in Computer view of nautilus

2008-11-01 Thread Jan Rüegg
This is not working here... My fstab entry is

but there is nowhere any sign of the share in nautilus/gnome until
mounting (in console with "mount /media/Synology")...

What exactly did you do, JediMonkey?

[Bug 131818] Re: Eject key doesn't work on Apple MacBook / MacBook Pro

2008-10-18 Thread Jan Rüegg
I can confirm that: It worked perfectly fine in Hardy, now on Intrepid
it's broken. In my case, xev doesn't give me anything... doesn't seem to
even recognize there is a key...

By the way: I don't think this should be assigned to pommed, as I'm not using
it.
But even without it, it worked on Hardy and isn't working in Intrepid.

So, maybe this is a kernel issue?

[Bug 261920] Re: Allowed to move folder to Trash that cannot be Empty of deleted

2008-10-13 Thread Jan Rüegg
Try something like "sudo rm -r ~/.local/share/Trash/*", what deletes
everything in your Trash with "root" privileges.

Be careful, though, with rm -r, as it deletes everything without asking,
so if you enter "rm -r ~/" then your whole user directory with all
settings and files is deleted!

[Bug 261920] Re: Allowed to move folder to Trash that cannot be Empty of deleted

2008-10-12 Thread Jan Rüegg
I can confirm that... It should either not be possible to move files to
the Trash that cannot be deleted afterwards.

An even better way to handle the problem was to get a message when
trying to empty the Trash like "Files not belonging to you are in the
Trash, delete them?". And, when answering with a "yes", it should ask
for the password and delete the files with a "gksudo" or something like
that...

I have just spotted the problem: After killing and restarting the gnome-

+ macbook, keyboard backlight keys not working after suspend

** Description changed:

- I suspect since the last big Ubuntu update I can't control the backlight of
the keyboard anymore with the Fn + F8/F9/F10 keys. Everything else still works
(backlight of the lcd, volume, ...).
- After a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 this worked, too. But, as I sayed, not

[Bug 229258] [NEW] data labels of Diagram in 3D view unreadable

2008-05-11 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Going from 2D to 3D in a Diagram with 'Data Labels' floating over the
bars makes them unreadable, as they aren't anymore 'above', as indicated
in 'data series -> data labels -> placement', but half within the bars
(as you can see on the screenshot)

This makes the Diagram very hard to read, and it looks unprofessional.

[Bug 227425] [NEW] macbook, keyboard backlight keys suddenly broken

2008-05-06 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

I suspect since the last big Ubuntu update I can't control the backlight of the
keyboard anymore with the Fn + F8/F9/F10 keys. Everything else still works
(backlight of the lcd, volume, ...).
After a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 this worked, too. But, as I sayed, not
anymore, its just nothing happening anymore when I'm pressing these buttons.

[Bug 227001] [NEW] gltron not having fullscreen option

2008-05-05 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gltron

Since some time, the menu options under Video are gone that made it
possible to change resolution or to play in fullscreen. This happens on
32bit and on 64bit systems.

Under the menu entry 'Video' there are only the 'Artpack' - Options and
the 'Details' Options left...

Absolutely agreeing, I'm waiting for a long time already for the newer

Gentoo laptop.

[Bug 202736] Re: cd/dvd burning does not work in gutsy and hardy(latest update)

2008-04-28 Thread Jan Rüegg
For me it works (Macbooks Pro rev 3), but only in console using cdrecord (also
blanking works when using cd-rw's).
When I use cdrecord, I have to specify "--force" or it won't burn anything and
stop with an error.

Well, I have to say, that THIS was the reason that I left Ubuntu after
being with it since Hoary Hedgehog.

I switched to Gentoo because a Laptop without suspend is useless in
everyday use at university...

[Bug 160590] Can't copy underscore out of document

2007-11-06 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

In this document on page 4 at the beginning, it is not possible to copy
the line

"echo ISE_EIFFEL=/opt/Eiffel60 >> /etc/environment"

out of evince into another document without loosing the underscore
between "ISE" and "EIFFEL".

(So you get: "echo ISE EIFFEL=/opt/Eiffel60 >> /etc/environment"
instead)

This is true for every underscore in the document.

[Bug 109325] black outprint of pdf

2007-04-23 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

At first, everything on the page was printed fine except the graphics
(picture?) which was printed out entirely black. Then I choosed "print
to file" to print just one site, and after I opened this file (again, on
the screen everything looks fine) it prints the whole page black except
the picture, which is printed out correctly!!

[Bug 73389] png's and gif's are printea out black

2006-11-26 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu Edgy Eft, and everything works fine.
But I just tried to print some Pictures with gthumb (2.7.9), and the pictures
are all displayed correctly, jpgs, pngs and gifs. When I try to print them the
jpgs are printed perfectly, but where the other images should be is only deep
black...

Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'gthumb2';
however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

[Bug 71877] GeForce FX 5200: Crash when attempting to use swap

2006-11-14 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

I've got Ubuntu Edgy Eft and everything (including swap) worked fine when I
upgraded. Some time ago I inserted a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 in the AGP - Slot
and it worked, too (Performance in Games was better etc.)
But as soon as my Ram is at about 80 % and Ubuntu tries to do something on the
swap, the System freezes. Without the card it works: in system monitor the swap
line rises and Ubuntu keeps on running.
But now the line doesn't rise, used swap stays at 0 Bytes and the System
freezes. I can then barely move the mouse (about 1 frame per second the mouse
pointer jumps around), moving to a console with ctr, alt, f1 is during about 10
Seconds and until I logged in there (name and password) I have to wait maybe a
minute. I never waited long enough to see the output of a "swapon -s", for
example, this is taking minutes!

[Bug 70189] odd- / even- / duplex-printing not working in evince

2006-11-04 Thread Jan Rüegg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When I try to print only odd or even pages from evince (evince 0.6.1, Edgy Eft)
on the page Setup, it doesn't change anything and prints all the pages just if
it was configured to print "All sheets".
Same thing with "Two-sided": I can change it to "Short Edge" or "Long Edge" but
it prints as if nothing would have changed...

I'm using a HP PSC 1610 with the default ubuntu drivers (hpijs)
