[Bug 634886] [NEW] unread mails virtual folder is updated too quickly

2010-09-10 Thread Jeremy Vies
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

As soon as I click on an unread mail in the unread mails virtual folder, it
disappears from this folder.
It is still available in the incoming folder of the appropriate account, so it
is not lost.
The correct behaviour is the one implemented in thunderbird 3.0, where the
unread virtual folder is only updated each time you clik on it, or when you
manually refresh it.

The problem has been observed with evolution 2.30.3 under Maverick.

** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2010-09-08 Thread Jeremy Vies

Jeremy, I'm glad you can log in now.

If the problem was that the password contained unusual characters, then
unfortunately I'm unable to reproduce it here. I just tried setting my
Picasa Web password to have Russian characters, but Google Accounts said
I'm only allowed to use alphanumeric characters plus common punctuation.
So then I changed it to be '%;;%;;', which should break any XML-
related quoting failure, but I was able to log in just fine using
 Shotwell trunk.

So: Jeremy, what non-alphanumeric characters were in your previous
 password?

Re: [Bug 335858] Re: rpc.idmapd does not see LDAP users (nfs4 server)

2009-06-16 Thread Jeremy Vies
So the problem seems very similar to mine. If it's really the case, it is
not due to LDAP, but only to NFSV4.

It seems that nfs-kernel-server needs nfs-common to be started. And vice et
versa.
The solution found on Debian bug analysis is to restart nfs-common in
rc.local so idmapd runs correctly, and users are correctly mapped.

2009/6/16 Mark Hannon markhan...@optusnet.com.au

 Hi Jeremy,

The problem is that *all* files/directories on the NFS4 mount are owned
 by nobody:nogroup.

I've some similar bug (except I don't have users managed by ldap) with a

It seems similar to Debian Bug#468177: nfs-common: idmapd fails mapping if

I think it is the expected behaviour of the ondemand governor used by

vm.mmap_min_addr = 65536

[Bug 65048] Re: Ubuntu needs a NFS mount wizard

2007-09-28 Thread Jeremy Vies
hi,
in fact, gnome-vfs does not support zeroconf publications of NFS shares
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328107). It can display ftp or
webdav, or ssh (sftp) shares, but can't display NFS ones.
(of course it can show smb ones with smbclient)
It's a pitty that with Gnome, the best automatic way to have shares between
computers is to use samba (easy to share / easy to browse with ubuntu/gnome
tools).

[Bug 83231] Re: linux software RAID not working after herd 3 installation..

2007-03-19 Thread Jeremy Vies
It's better as it is cleaner. For me the problem is from udev, so the
correction should be in udev.

udevsettle --timeout=10 waits for udev to end its works with a maximum
of 10sec. So it should be shorter than the sleep 10 solution.

[Bug 85640] Re: [Feisty] crypted root doesnt mount on start (cryptsetup)

2007-03-17 Thread Jeremy Vies
We have some similar problem on bug #83231.
I proposed them your solution based on udevsettle, and it works.
I also tried to add the udevsettle --timeout XX at the end of
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-premount/udev.

May someone using cryptoroot try this ? if it works for you too, we have
a global solution for both bugs.

[Bug 83231] Re: linux software RAID not working after herd 3 installation..

2007-03-16 Thread Jeremy Vies
I'm having the same problem on a dmraid root partition.

I've had a look at bug #85640 about problem on crypted root partition.
It seems their problem is due to the fact that /dev is not completely
populated when it try to decrypt. I wonder if we don't have the same
kind of problem here...

They solved it by using udevsettle. In my opinion, it would be a nicer
solution than a sleep. so I'll give it a try this evening.

[Bug 54246] Re: DMRAID stopped to work in kernels 2.6.15

2006-10-14 Thread Jeremy Vies
I'm trying to have it working right now...
It seems that the dmraid_1.0.0.rc11-1_i386.deb Olaf built have dmraid in
/usr/sbin and not in /sbin as it should be... that's (probably) why the
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dmraid script does not work..
and that's why /dev/mapper devices are not set on boot...

So to improve this package, it should be rebuild with dmraid in /sbin
and with both scripts in /usr/share/initramfs-tools.

2006-08-21 Thread Jeremy Vies
Hi enyc,

I think tcp_syncookies is considered as part of the FW mechanism of the
kernel.
As Dapper (and previous releases) does not provide any FW out of the box, it is
normal that tcp_syncookies are not activated by default.
Your bug repport should be put as a wish for next release, and maybe linked to
bug about the missing FW in Ubuntu.

For me syncookies is the same problem as FW is.
As you said, as long as you don't start a network service, your computer is
safe. If you start a SSH server or whatever, you have to protect your system
from DoS or other attacks...

(By the way, if your server is reachable from the internet, as soon as
you open a network service, you will need some iptables rules to filter
some attacks, as ssh scans for example.)

[Bug 42833] Re: modified menu under Breezy are not correctly reinitialised under Dapper

2006-08-02 Thread Jeremy Vies
I'm completely under Dapper since a while now.
I solved my problem by removing all .gnome directories and by restoring some
settings later.
I can't reproduce the bug anymore... I guess that if I'm the onlyone who had
this problem, you can close it now.
