[Bug 116440] Re: USB hard drive (iPod) I/O errors on read. Works fine in Feisty LiveCD
this is a long standing issue (I've had this bug hit my ipod on and off since hoary). it's something that no one seems to want to/be able to fix. the best workaround for now is to use usb 1.1 instead of usb 2.0 to access the ipod (to do that: sudo modprobe -r ehci-hcd). also, if you're lucky: with some kernels, the issue does not arise. 2.6.20-13 was such a kernel (at least for me it worked ok) ** Changed in: linux-source-2.6.20 (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed ** Also affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- USB hard drive (iPod) I/O errors on read. [Bug 69163] Re: new version request: 0.7.6-4
one bug I can see already: Setting up wacom-kernel-source (0.7.7.7-0ubuntu1) ... /var/lib/dpkg/info/wacom-kernel-source.postinst: line 49: [: too many arguments Warning: kernel headers don't match running Linux version. [Bug 69163] Re: new version request: 0.7.6-4
hot (un)plugging is broken here too, but at least the kernel doesn't freeze as with 0.7.2 the /var/lib/dpkg/info/wacom-kernel-source.postinst: line 49: [: too many arguments is caused by incorrect parsing of the kernel version. I'm guessing that other kernel module packages do this correctly. we can copy-paste the code from there. thanks a lot for the hard work. this fixes a lot of bugs against wacom- tools! -- new version request: 0.7.6-4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/69163 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 69163] Re: new version request: 0.7.6-4 (or maybe even 0.7.7-7?)
I've tested the packages from http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/wacom/, and they work correctly. the kernel modules do not build however, at least not on 2.6.20-13-lowlatency. note that kernel 2.6.20 is not officially supported by the wacom 0.7.6-4 driver, but it's been reported to work with the 0.7.7-7 development driver. maybe it's better to update to that version. [Bug 71491] Re: udev error message at boot : invalid rule
I remember seeing this error when I had upgraded from dapper to edgy. it was caused by some leftover files (indeed /etc/udev/rules.d/10-wacom.rules and another file from another package). deleting the old files did no harm and fixed the problem. -- udev error message at boot : invalid rule https://launchpad.net/bugs/71491 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 89467] [feisty] f-spot freezes system when trying to import pictures
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot I'm running the latest feisty, with all updates. the system has the latest low-latency kernel. on this config, f-spot freezes the system when importing pictures. everything works well until the point you click import in the import dialog. after that the system freezes (I think it's a kernel crash, since the mouse/keyboard/usb/power button all stop working). it needs a hard reset to be brought back to life. after restarting, you can see the pictures are imported correctly, and they can be removed from the library without a problem. this could be an issue with the new x.org/xcb, but I have no idea how to find out. the logs don't show anything. ** Affects: f-spot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- [feisty] f-spot freezes system when trying to import pictures https://launchpad.net/bugs/89467 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 68901] Re: xorg doesn't startup with unichrome driver (on edgy)
I was just calling the original driver official, because unichrome/openchrome are both derived from the via driver. that one was bad/buggy/..., hence not really something official. Furthermore, I9 think ubuntu wouldn't want to express any preference between openchrome and unichrome. let's just have them both packaged, so that the user can choose. but let's not force the user to either one by defaulting to it. I think the old driver is really the best default choice. -- xorg doesn't startup with unichrome driver (on edgy) https://launchpad.net/bugs/68901 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 68901] Re: xorg doesn't startup with unichrome driver (on edgy)
please, can we have this fixed before feisty? it's really simple to fix this: 1) xserver-xorg-video-via should contain /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/via_drv.so with the old via driver. 2) xserver-xorg-video-unichrome should contain /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/via_drv.so with the new unichrome driver. this should not be renamed, or eslse it will break! 3) both packages should conflict. xserver-xorg-video-via should be preferred over the other one, since it's the official driver. there's really no point in packaging the unichrome driver if it's not done this way... -- xorg doesn't startup with unichrome driver (on edgy) https://launchpad.net/bugs/68901 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 77403] gtkpod becomes uninterruptible when it cannot write ArtworkDB
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gtkpod apart from some usb issues I can work around, gtkpod works fine. adding/deleting/syncing dirs/... all work. there's one big annoyance however. when I write changes to the ipod, gtkpod tries to write but it fails. while it's trying to write this file, there's a pop-up window that is completely blank. it's there for about 5 to 80 seconds. when gtkpod finally decides to give up, the window suddenly has an ok button. the ipod I'm writing to is a 4th gen 40GB, without colour screen. so in fact, gtkpod shouldn't even write the ArtworkDB... ** Affects: gtkpod (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- gtkpod becomes uninterruptible when it cannot write ArtworkDB https://launchpad.net/bugs/77403 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
