[Bug 480997] Re: do_IRQ: 0.91 No irq handler for vector (irq -1)

2009-11-17 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Using 32-bit Kubuntu 9.10, I too am flooded with this message.

When I am working on a terminal, this message (5 lines at once) is left as an
artefact on the screen when I access a file or when I use the search function
in VIM.
The numbers between brackets are different each time, so I guess these lines
are generated just before accessing a file.

If I can do anything to debug, please tell me.

[Bug 478413] [NEW] Kmail retrieves empty e-mails with subject and sender Unknown

2009-11-08 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdepim

I made a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10 and started to migrate data.
At first I replaced the folder ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail with the same
folder of my old 8.04 system (I renamed the original KDE4 'mail' folder in case
it would not work). When starting Kmail, I could read e-mail just fine, all
folders were there and e-mails that I didn't read yet, were marked 'unread'.
New e-mails however, are marked with subect, sender and date Unknown.
I figured I would better try to import e-mails, so I put the original 'mail'
folder back in place and imported all e-mail, using the option to import kmail
maildirs and folder structure. Of course, everything was marked 'new'. New
e-mails however, still show 'unknown' for sender, subject and date.

Rebuilding indexes has no positive effect.
Quitting kmail, pkill kmail and kio, deleting all index files and restarting
kmail also has no effect.
Making a new e-mail account (with the same settings) has no effect.

I have several pop3 accounts, the problem occurs at least for hotmail
and gmail (both pop3). In case it might be relevant (allthough I don't
know how): I use an encrypted homedir.

Here is the content (contained between quotes) of such an e-mail message
(I opened it with Kate in the maildir):

cl_load: Can't open file or directory
cl_load: Can't open file or directory
X-UID:
Status: RO
X-Status: R
X-KMail-EncryptionState: N
X-KMail-SignatureState: N
X-KMail-MDN-Sent:

This bug might be related to bug 50039, but since that bug is said to apply
only to KDE3, I opened a new one.
I consider this bug as very severe. E-mail is on of the most important systems
people use on their systems. At least when using kmail as e-mail client,
Kubuntu 9.10 is not usable for me.

I am very motivated to get this solved, please inform me if you need
more information.

[Bug 50039] Re: [Data Loss] KMail mysteriously changes messages to No Subject, Unknown sender

2009-11-08 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Please note that one should not replace the new kmailrc file with an older one.
This causes all new emails to have sender, subject and date set to unknown.
I noticed this while migrating from Kubuntu 8.04 to 9.10 (KDE3 to KDE4).
Running Kmail 1.12.2 now.

I do not know if any of the above applies to other 'unkown sender'
problems. But of course one can test: if no other solution works, try to
rename ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc to force regeneration of this file.

I can confirm that 2.6.31-rc1-fix1 works without acpi=off.

I couldn't test if acpi functions were indeed working, though.
(I needed to reinstall my video driver, then got some error about the wrong gcc
version. A few steps further I seem to have completely ruined g++, won't
reinstall, configure or anything).

Hallo Andres,

I added http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13685

Changing the ACPI options in BIOS only gives me this:
If I select S1 only, my screen throws some text which end with End trace
If I select S3 only, the system hangs at Loading, please wait...
If I select the default option (both S1S3), the result may vary between the
two above.

2009-05-12 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Solved that by removing
/home/~user/.cache/apport/launchpad.credentials
and filed a bug for it.

The apport data should now have been sent.

[Bug 146439] Re: kde resources warns for lacking resource for wrong item

2008-11-06 Thread Johan van der Lingen
No, in KDE4 uninstalling KNotes causes the resource Notes to
dissappear (it's empty), as opposed to KDE3, where it would still exist,
but the entry would be empty.

It is therefore impossible to encounter this error in KDE4.

[Bug 157700] Re: USB camera is not automatically mounted

2008-01-07 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Thank you for notification.

Tested with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron-Alpha 2 liveCD on 07-01-2008.
This time my camera (USB Mass Storage Traveler DC-9400) is detected, while in
Kubuntu Gutsy, the camera is not.

Because it concerns the kernel I'd say that I do not need to test also with
Kubuntu Hardy Heron-Alpha2.
But since I am not an expert, please let me know if I should.

I've noticed this behaviour on two different machines now, one running

[Bug 161927] [kmail] dragging attachment from email to new email fails

2007-11-10 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kmail

I selected a received email with attachment, so it became visible in the
preview pane (opening the email has the same effect).
Then I created a new email and dragged an attachment from the aforementioned
email to the new email. A menu popped up as it should, asking me to choose
between add as text or add as attachment.
I choose the latter, which resulted in the following notice:
/ is a folder, but a file was expected.

This error only seems to occur when the attachment is dragged from the
coloured header area (I have fancy headers selected), displaying email
adresses of sender and receivers, the date and attachments.

Dragging attachments from the body of the email or from the message
structure viewer gives no problems!

[Bug 145239] Re: usb camera list does not show up anymore in digikam

2007-10-27 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Should this fix already have been downloaded through automatic updating?

I have the same version of libgphoto2-2 as Bremm, but my camera is still
not detected automatically. I have a traveler DC-6900. If I must post
additional information, I will be pleased to do so, just explain what
package I should install or what command I should give in the konsole.

[Bug 157700] USB camera is not automatically mounted

2007-10-27 Thread Johan van der Lingen
Public bug reported:

possibly the same as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.22/+bug/153730

I had contact with someone on Digikam, which in Feisty reacted well on my
camera.
In Gutsy however, my camera is not detected. This man said me it is probably a
bug in the kernel.

I installed gphoto2 and then followed the normal procedure to connect my
camera to the computer: select USB-modus in settings on the camera, switched
it off, connected it with the USB-cable, switch it on again (after which the
camera switches off automatically).

Then I entered the commands 'gphoto2 --auto-detect', 'lsusb' and
'dmesg', this is the output:

[Bug 152269] Re: [7.10RC] ubiquity installer crashes after choosing keyboard layout

2007-10-15 Thread Johan van der Lingen
I am sorry, I am not able to reproduce the error anymore. The installer is now
copying files as it should four boots in row with the same CD (7.10RC) and the
same hardware setup...
I am surprised by this as I rebooted before whereafter the error persisted.

I nevertheless attached /var/log/syslog, because I do not know of what
importance the information in syslog is to you (maybe only background
information of the system's hardware).

If I encounter the problem again, I will post both logs.

resource! Please select one which is neither read-only nor inactive.

I think it is not correct to display this warning when another item is
selected from the menu, it suggests there is no standard resource set
for the newly selected item (Contacts or Calendar) which is not true.

Besides, if it is so important that a standard resource for notes is
set, shouldn't it be created automatically, in order to prevent the user
to be bothered for this?

Sincerely Yours!
