[Bug 600679] Re: After auto update 7-1-10, firefox only launches bin

2010-07-03 Thread John H Lynch
A couple of people seems to have had this problem and deleting secmod.db
in ~/.mozilla/firefox/PROFILE seems to solve it.

'seems' to solve it? why did it fail in the first place? just a user,
not a developer, so very uneasy about rooting around inside the
application.

 Hi John,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
 http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

 apport-collect -p linux 455240

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
 Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested
the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This
can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at
the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing'
text. Please let us know your results.

 Thanks in advance.

[Bug 444667] [NEW] Evolution Contact Calendar fail to re-sync w/ google

2009-10-06 Thread John H Lynch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Linux roookie...first bug report...

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using: 9.04 (Jaunty)

2) The version of the package you are using: 2.26.1-0ubuntu2 (Evolution)

3) What you expected to happen: Add a Google address book (Contacts)
from the drop down menu, sync with Google. Add a Google calendar
(Calendar) from the drop down menu, sync with Google.

4) What happened instead:

When Jaunty was first released I had successfully set up both, and had
been using frequently. Recently changed my Google Account Password,
which required me to change Password for Evolution IMAP Gmail account. I
deleted both existing Google Contact and Calendar accounts from
Evolution, and then tried to re-create them using the correct, new login
password.

[Bug 444667] Re: Evolution Contact Calendar fail to re-sync w/ google

2009-10-06 Thread John H Lynch
Ok, looks like this bug can be cancelled. Evolution re-sync is working.
I assume issue was with Google side enhanced security due to report of
password phishing scheme today.
