[Bug 1530837] Re: Logsys file leaks in /dev/shm after sigabrt, sigsegv and when running corosync -v

2016-03-29 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
I just ran a verification on this package.

root@juju-niedbalski-sec-machine-27:/home/ubuntu# for file in $(strace -e open
-i corosync -v 2>&1 | grep -E '.*shm.*' |grep -Po '".*?"'| sed -e s/\"//g); do
du -sh $file; done
12K /dev/shm/qb-corosync-blackbox-header
8.1M/dev/shm/qb-corosync-blackbox-data

After enabling proposed

root@juju-niedbalski-sec-machine-27:/home/ubuntu# dpkg -l | grep corosync
ii  corosync 2.3.3-1ubuntu2   amd64
   Standards-based cluster framework (daemon and modules)
ii  libcorosync-common4  2.3.3-1ubuntu2   amd64
   Standards-based cluster framework, common library

root@juju-niedbalski-sec-machine-27:/home/ubuntu# for file in $(strace -e open
-i corosync -v 2>&1 | grep -E '.*shm.*' |grep -Po '".*?"'| sed -e s/\"//g); do
du -sh $file; done
du: cannot access ‘/dev/shm/qb-corosync-blackbox-header’: No such file or
directory
du: cannot access ‘/dev/shm/qb-corosync-blackbox-data’: No such file or
directory

So, seems to be fixed.

[Bug 1563089] [NEW] Memory Leak when new configuration is formed.

2016-03-28 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
Public bug reported:

[Environment]

Trusty 14.04.3

Packages:

ii  corosync 2.3.3-1ubuntu1
amd64Standards-based cluster framework (daemon and modules)
ii  libcorosync-common4  2.3.3-1ubuntu1
amd64Standards-based cluster framework, common library

[Reproducer]

1) I deployed an HA environment using this bundle
(http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ost-maintainers/openstack-charm-testing/trunk/view/head:/bundles/dev/next-ha.yaml)
with a 3 nodes installation of cinder related to an HACluster subordinate unit.

$ juju-deployer -c next-ha.yaml -w 600 trusty-kilo

2) I changed the default corosync transport mode to unicast.

$ juju set cinder-hacluster corosync_transport=udpu

3) I assured that the 3 units were quorated

  1001  1 10.5.1.58
  1000  1 10.5.1.59

The primary unit was holding the VIP resource 10.5.105.1/16

root@juju-niedbalski-sec-machine-4:/home/ubuntu# ip addr
2: eth0: mtu 1500 qdisc netem state UP group

   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet 10.5.105.1/16 brd 10.5.255.255 scope global secondary eth0
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

4) I manually added a TC queue for the eth0 interface on the node
holding the VIP resource, introducing a 350 ms delay.

$ sudo tc qdisc add dev eth0 root netem delay 350ms

5) Right after adding the 350ms on the cinder/0 unit, the corosync process
informs that one of the processors failed, and is forming a new
cluster configuration.

This happens on all of the units.

6) After receiving this message, I remove the queue from eth0:

$ sudo tc qdisk del dev eth0 root netem

Then, the following statement is written in the master node:

Mar 28 22:00:48 juju-niedbalski-sec-machine-4 corosync[9630]:  [TOTEM ] A new
membership (10.5.1.57:11628) was formed. Members

7) While executing 5 and 6 repeatedly, I ran the following command to track the
SZ and RSS memory usage of the
corosync process:

root@juju-niedbalski-sec-machine-4:/home/ubuntu# tc qdisc add dev eth0 root
netem delay 350ms
root@juju-niedbalski-sec-machine-4:/home/ubuntu# tc qdisc del dev eth0 root
netem

$ sudo while true; do ps -o sz,rss -p $(pgrep corosync) 2>&1 | grep -E
'.*[0-9]+.*' | tee -a memory-usage.log && sleep 1; done

The results shows that both sz and rss are increased over time at a high
ratio.

... (after 5 minutes).

[Fix]

So preliminary based on this reproducer, I think that this commit
(https://github.com/corosync/corosync/commit/600fb4084adcbfe7678b44a83fa8f3d3550f48b9)

is a good candidate to be backported in Ubuntu Trusty.

[Bug 1552985] Re: [Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series] System hangs on poweroff

2016-03-23 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Today I tried the Xubuntu Xenial daily image and again (live usb), the system
was not able to shut down.
In the live session, selected the Xubuntu menu, shut down, when Xubuntu image
appeared pressed [F1] to be able to see system messages, I got these messages
at the end:

[OK] Stopped target Local File System.
 Unmounting /run/user/999...
 Unmounting cdrom.mount...
 Unmounting /rofs...
 Unmounting /sys/kernel/debug/tracing...
 Unmounting /tmp...
[FAILED] Failed unmounting cdrom.mount.
cdrom.mount
[OK] Unmounted /sys/kernel/debug/tracing.
[OK] Unmounted /run/user/999.
[OK] Unmounted /rofs.
[OK] Unmounted /tmp.
[OK] Reached target Unmount All Filesystems.
[OK] Stopped target Local File Systems (Pre).
[OK] Stopped Create Static Device Nodes in /dev.
[OK] Stopped Remount Root and Kernel File Systems.
[OK] Reached target Shutdown.
[202.959599] reboot: Power down

And the system hangs there, it does not complete the shut down. It does
not respond to any keypress, I have to keep the power button pressed to
get the computer shut down.

[Bug 1560752] [NEW] File mode incorrectly assigned for device

2016-03-22 Thread Jorge Ventura
Public bug reported:

The command:
lxc config device add cnt_name /dev/video0 unix-char gid 27 path=/dev/video0
mode=0660

The result is:

crw-r- 1root   video   video0

but should be

crw-rw 1  root   video  video0

Inside the container I can fix using chmod and the webcam works properly but
not using lxc command.

using "Linux Live USB creator" and tested on an Inspiron 14 3000 series
laptop, system boots correctly, Xubuntu loading image (boot image) is

I was unable to connect to the Internet so I couldn't send the report within
the live USB environment, after trying and getting a connection error, a new
window appears with this message:

The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will
now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing
again.

Clicking on the "OK" button on that window will bring a black window
with some white text and then back to a "normal" live graphical session,
with a link to "Install Xubuntu 16.04 LTS" on the desktop.

I'll try to add more information as I can gather it.

[Bug 1560546] [NEW] Race between neutron-vpn-agent and neutron-ovs-cleanup

2016-03-22 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
Public bug reported:

neutron-vpn-agent failed to start due to neutron-ovs-cleanup not
finishing cleanly:

Mar 21 08:56:24 kermath kernel: [ 86.711007] init: wait-for-state
(neutron-vpn-agentneutron-ovs-cleanup) main process (1886) terminated with
status 100
Mar 21 08:56:24 kermath kernel: [ 86.715325] init: neutron-vpn-agent pre-start
process (1751) terminated with status 1

This left the stack without connectivity and no tenants could ssh into
their bastions.

I would expect neutron-ovs-cleanup and neutron-vpn-agent to be able to
recover from this on their own.

[Bug 1515278] Re: [SRU] rabbit queues should expire when unused

2016-03-19 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
** Description changed:

+ [Description]
+
  RabbitMQ supports queue-level TTLs as described here:

  https://www.rabbitmq.com/ttl.html#queue-ttl

  This should be used when declaring queues in order to clean up queues
  that are orphaned for various reasons.

  This is an important complement to auto_delete queues. Queues marked
  auto_delete are only deleted if a consumer existed at some point, and
  then disconnected, resulting in zero consumers.

+ [Impact]
+
  Consider the following scenario: a client declares a queue (auto_delete)
- and binds it to a fanout exchange, but before the client can consume
+ and binds it to a fan out exchange, but before the client can consume
  from the queue, it dies.

  Because there was never (and will never be) a consumer of this queue,
  the auto_delete logic does not fire. The queue will live forever, and
  will collect a copy of every message that is sent to the bound fanout
  exchange. Given enough published messages to the exchange, the queue
  will eventually consume all available memory on the broker.

  This is bad and we should avoid it by setting a reasonable TTL.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Deploy a new cinder service unit
+ * Create a volume
+ * Destroy the new cinder service unit.
+ * List the current active queues:
+
+ rabbitmqctl -p openstack list_queues messages consumers name
+
+ 811 0 q-agent-notifier-security_group
update_fanout_c3c4f4d4fc774322938357952ab6d252
+ 3352 0 cinder-volume_fanout_49a14d5511dc4c8c935904eb299a06a8
+ 3352 0 cinder-volume_fanout_634a3e584c064a788676fb29fbf7db23
+ 3352 0 cinder-volume_fanout_ada4f2368cb74d7389998d0adbd15f88
+ 3352 0 cinder-volume_fanout_e896e25b029c4cbd97037909c34803db
+
+ Those queues with 0 consumers will grow and remain there forever.
+
+ After applying the patch, those queues are removed from the exchange after
+ 10 minutes.
+
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Not identified.

[Bug 1552985] Re: [Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series] System hangs on poweroff

2016-03-08 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Cristopher, I'm not able to install the image but tested it in live mode and
I'm able to shut down the computer without problems.
I also tried with a Xubuntu 14.04.03 live image (I didn't have a 14.04.04 one
at hand) and found it also hangs when shutting down the computer.

So, I guess it is already solved in the new upcoming version.

[Bug 1552985] [NEW] [Dell Inspiron 14 3000 Series] System hangs on poweroff

2016-03-03 Thread José Jorge Enríquez Rodríguez
Public bug reported:

Xubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
Linux 3.13.0-79-generic #123-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 19 14:27:58 UTC 2016 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

When shutting down the system, it gets stuck on the Xubuntu splash
screen. I have to press the power button for a while to have it shut
down.

This is a dual boot system: Windows 10 and Xubuntu 14.04. I updated BIOS
version to A10 a couple of days ago. It hanged when trying to shut down from
both Windows and Xubuntu.
After installing the firmware update from
http://www.dell.com/support/article/mx/es/mxbsdt1/SLN300281/EN, the computer
shuts down correctly from Windows, but still gets stuck when trying to shut
down from Xubuntu, no matter if using the "Shutdown" button or running
"shutdown -h now" or "poweroff" from a terminal.

I found a similar bug here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1341925?comments=all,
but the solution mentioned there did not work for me, also, I don't have
any problems when rebooting the computer, just when trying to shut down.

[Bug 1549882] Re: sosreport should collect application crash dumps

2016-02-25 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
AFAIU /var/log/crash is not the location on which apport stores crash files, so
this seems to be a custom configured path trough kernel.core_pattern.

My opinion is that supporting specific paths is probably not a good idea,
but it might be a configurable option.

[Bug 1540537] Re: make ovs-vsctl not raise error if there's no portData available.

2016-02-24 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
These are the steps that I followed for verification:

1) I created 2 virtual machines

$ uvt-kvm create trusty
$ uvt-kvm create trusty2

2) On the primary (trusty) I created a machine called test

$ uvt-kvm create test

3) Installed openvswitch

$ sudo apt-get install openvswitch-switch

4) Created a new openvswitch bridge

$ sudo brctl addbr br0
$ sudo ovs-vsctl add-br br0
$ sudo ifconfig br0 up

5) Edited the network

$ virsh destroy test
$ virsh edit test

6) Start the domain

$ virsh start test

7)  Migrate between both systems:

$ virsh migrate --live --p2p --persistent --abort-on-error trusty
qemu+ssh://ubuntu@192.168.122.110/system

At this point the migration completes correctly, without the
virCommandWait:2423 exception.

[Bug 1531373] Re: Netbeans stuck on "Starting modules..." at launch

2016-02-15 Thread Jorge González
This is the answer

http://askubuntu.com/questions/689291/netbeans-8-0-2-freezing-at-
startup-on-ubuntu-15-10-64bit/691652#691652

To make it work with OpenJDK 8, edit
/etc/java-8-openjdk/accessibility.properties and comment out the line
"assistive_technologies=org.GNOME.Accessibility.AtkWrapper", as
suggested here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-8/+bug/1510009.

In my case

sudo pico /etc/java-7-openjdk/accessibility.properties

[Bug 1540537] [NEW] make ovs-vsctl not raise error if there's no portData available.

2016-02-01 Thread Jorge Niedbalski
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

Nova Live migration task can fail if the source host
doesn't have a specific port or interface available because the port have been
already migrated.

If this happens, we need to make ovs-vsctl not raise error if there's
no portData available.

Example libvirtd.log:

2:2015-12-01 17:44:34.360+: 3379: error : virCommandWait:2399 :
internal error: Child process (ovs-vsctl --timeout=5 get Interface
tape7ad3f81-dc external_ids:PortData) unexpected exit status 1: ovs-
vsctl: no key "PortData" in Interface record "tape7ad3f81-dc" column
external_ids

[Test Case]

The steps to reproduce the problem:

1 define and start a domain with its network configured as:

2 do not set the network's portData.

3 migrate(ToURI2) it with flag 91(1011011), which means:

  VIR_MIGRATE_LIVE
  VIR_MIGRATE_PEER2PEER
  VIR_MIGRATE_PERSIST_DEST
  VIR_MIGRATE_UNDEFINE_SOURCE
  VIR_MIGRATE_NON_SHARED_DISK

4 migrate success, but we got an error log in libvirtd.log:
  error : virCommandWait:2423 : internal error: Child process (ovs-vsctl
--timeout=5 get Interface
  vnet1 external_ids:PortData) unexpected exit status 1: ovs-vsctl: no key
"PortData" in Interface
  record "vnet1" column external_ids

[Regression Potential]

[Bug 1504665] Re: Evolution fails to show IMAP folder "Inbox". It only shows the bogus empty folder "INBOX" (all caps)

2015-12-03 Thread Jorge Morais
@Sebastien Bacher (seb128)
Do you think this update would fit the SRU criteria? The criterion that comes
closest to matching is:
Bugs which do not fit under above categories, but (1) have an obviously
safe patch and (2) affect an application rather than critical
infrastructure packages (like X.org or the kernel).

But I do not know if this bug has an "obviously safe patch".

I myself am using evolution 3.18.2-0ubuntu1~wily1 (along with many other
Gnome 3.18 packages) from gnome3-staging PPA.

[Bug 1504665] Re: Evolution fails to show Imap folder "Inbox". It only shows the unexisting grayed-out empty folder "INBOX" (all caps)

2015-10-15 Thread Jorge Morais
I have worked around the bug by using another email client to subscribe to
Inbox. Then Evolution started working correctly. Please see this thread:
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/evolution-list/2015-October/msg00015.html
sigurgeirg is another user that faced this bug, and I have successfully copied
his/her solution.
Ideally, Ubuntu developers would check if upstream Evolution has solved this
bug and would backport the solution to Ubuntu 15.10 (and possibly 14.04 and
12.04, if applicable).

2015-10-15 Thread Jorge Morais
Milan Crha (who has a Red Hat email) wrote that this is not an Evolution
bug, but instead a server bug. evolution-data-server 3.18.1 and later
has a workaround.
