Colin, Is the concern here that there might be installer code where eth0 is hard-coded (which probably needs to be fixed, anyway) and this will cause additional churn? As mentioned here our other OS partners have already implemented biosdevname=1 by default on Dell hardware only. Yes it did break some things in their installer (eth0 hard-coded) so it was a great opportunity to fix less-than-ideal code. I am unable to reproduce this issue on a 1420n, using Rhythmbox to play ogg files. I suspend and hibernate while playing a song and after pausing. After resuming, sound level is normal (same level as before going into S3/S4) and does not go up. You can always use envy to install the driver. I haven't tested this driver specifically, but the one released before it (in December 07) had much-improved support for suspend and hibernate. Kenneth, The custom l-b-m v50 was not tested or qualified on the XPS 1530, and even though I suspect the 1530 is highly leveraged off the XPS 1330 (where it was tested and it does work), it's very possible this fix may not work on the 1530. Make sure all your alsamixer settings are unmuted and raise their volume level. Also make sure the Digital Input Source is set to Digital. Test with the Sound Recorder tool in Applications -> Sound & Video. Glad to know that volume is now working correctly, didn't know that was an issue on the 1530. Like I said, we have not tested Ubuntu on the XPS 1530. The original submission was for the Nvidia 8400GS card. Since suspend/hibernate issues are completely dependent on the video driver (which is different from Intel), these are different bugs. I'm surprised you're having issues with the Intel 965 chipset (same as X3100), this driver handles suspend/hibernate rather well. Did you try the workarounds described on my post https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell/+bug/180907/comments/11 (changes to /etc/default/acpi-support)?
