[Bug 333630] [NEW] Feature Freeze exception for new gnugo version 3.8

2009-02-23 Thread Joseph Piche
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnugo

As reported on the gnugo-devel list[1], gnugo 3.8 has been released. The
current version in Jaunty is from the development branch of 3.7. I feel
that since the changes from 3.7.12 to 3.8 are minimal, that Jaunty
should include 3.8.

The complete changelog since 3.7.12 is as follows:
-
-- ChangeLog
-

3.8 released February 17, 2009

- added Wietze Brandsma to THANKS
- revised config.vc
- revised NEWS
- restored missing mkmcpat.dsp, regress.cmd

3.8rc1 released February 6, 2009

- revisions to montecarlo.texi
- revised .dsp files
- Lee Fisher added to AUTHORS
- WINDOWS doc and install.texi revised per Lee Fisher's changes
- mkmcpat puts 16 items on a line instead of 8
- (unsigned char) and (unsigned short) explicit typings
- missing files added to EXTRA_DIST
- copyrights updated to 2009

3.7.13 released December 23, 2008

- restore cmake files that were missing from the 3.7.12 tarball
- bring copyright date to 2008
- doc revision
- be forgiving with replacement moves conflicting with unconditional analysis
- accept --enable-socket-support even if configure test fails
- add globals.c to mkmcpat for OS/X build

Thank you.

I can confirm that this is a bug. When setting a compose key, such as

work.

[Bug 7560] Re: Wastebasket fails with read only directories

2008-03-26 Thread Joseph Piche
** Description changed:

Method: move a directory to the trash and empty the trash

  Expected result: trash gets emptied

Actual result: trash complains about read only dirs

Hypothesis: Trash can cannot cope with directories being read only

  Reproduction method:

  1. create a dir foo
  2. create a dir foo/bar
  3. touch a file foo/bar/baz
  4. chmod -w foo/bar
  5. move foo into the trash
  6. empty the trash

This is a common thing if someone makes a dir, copies a load of stuff off CD
(is
thus readonly) and then tries to put that dir into the trash.

[Bug 193054] Re: minimum hostname length imposed by installer is incorrect

2008-02-18 Thread Joseph Piche
I agree that this is a bug. RFCs 1034 and 1035 both are descriptive in
saying that the minimum limit of a name is 1. This is confirmed and
expounded upon in RFC 2181.

I'm not sure this is a bug. What packages depend on gnuchess? It seems
like the problem might be with the dependent packages.

[Bug 175559] Re: ubuntu hangs when downloading torrents

2007-12-12 Thread Joseph Piche
Okay, now that I have a better idea of what is going on--somehow I
missed the Caps Lock blink comment in the bug description.

When the Caps Lock is blinking, it is a kernel panic, and most likely is
a hardware failure in this case. I would try using a different network
card and see if it still happens. But, if you think it isn't hardware,
we will need the following info:

1. Please run the command 'dmesg dmesg.log' and attach the resulting file
'dmesg.log' to this bug report.
2. Please run the command 'sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log' and attach the
resulting file 'lspci-vvnn.log' to this bug report.

Also, I'm changing this to Incomplete until the required info is needed.

[Bug 175553] Re: Suspend and Hibernate does not work

2007-12-11 Thread Joseph Piche
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description doesn't yet
have enough information.
Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by
the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command 'uname -a' in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command 'dmesg dmesg.log' and attach the resulting file
'dmesg.log' to this bug report.
3. Please run the command 'sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log' and attach the
resulting file 'lspci-vvnn.log' to this bug report.
For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug
reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies . Thanks
in advance!

[Bug 141511] Re: Open / Save dialog doesn´t s how the right path in the path input

2007-09-21 Thread Joseph Piche
It might help to know what version of gnome you are running. You can get
to this by System - About Gnome. Also, is this the save dialog, or
the open dialog, or both.

In gnome 2.20, I know that when you hit the Type a file name button it
asks you for the specific location of the filename, not the entire path.
However, I do not see a path input button.

It might also help to know in what program you this occurs as some
programs have custom open/save dialog implementations.

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2007-09-19 Thread Joseph Piche
As much as a do wish Ubuntu has a larger userbase, I cringe when I read
this bug report.

Microsoft having a majority market share is not a bug. This is something
that in no way effects how ubuntu works or functions. If it was anyone
else who filed this bug it would have been marked as invalid.

Example: I file a bug that 3D graphics doesn't work without proprietary
ati drivers it would immediately be marked as invalid and told to go
write a better opensource driver.

I hope someone else understands.
