[Bug 144389] Re: Upstream version 0.7.3 available
If possible, I'd like to request an upstream new version exception for this package. The motivation: * The current version is the same as feisty, despite considerable upstream progress. * 0.7.0 saw the release of 3d emulation, fixing a large number of bugs in the emulator * Many speed improvements have been made * GDB stub code has been added * Optional openGL output can offload scaling to the video card. * Translation support now exists From a support perspective: * The diff is huge =( * Upstream has an active bug tracker * The same package has progressed into Debian testing, with 0 open bugs. -- Upstream version 0.7.3 available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144389 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 140890] Re: wminput should provide udev rule
From the kernel uinput.c: * User level driver support for input subsystem wminput is used to make the mouse cursor controllable by a Wiimote connected via bluetooth. The security implications are unclear to me. I happen to know that the device is also used for thinkfinger, which will be pulled in via Debian upstream soon. Would it be more appropriate to create a new user group akin to the fuse module group? [Bug 144389] Re: Upstream version 0.7.3 available
For those worried about serious regressions in functionality, it's good to keep in mind that console emulators aren't perfect, especially for a platform as recent as the Nintendo DS. This is probably why there are no bug reports on it in LP -- users have low expectations for what is essentially software in progress. The new version will likely be an overall improvement with a few regressions, but the state of upstream changes to desmune isn't something where upstream is concerned so much about regressions as putting in basic required functionality like emulating the 3d chipset the system has. I've noticed improvements over what's in feisty, but it's a gargantuan task to keep a list of what works and what doesn't in a given emulator, let alone which version, to say nothing of listing whether there's more fixes than regressions. The nature of fixing emulators is that sometimes fixing a bug exhibited by one test will cause a previously barely passing test to fail. I've noticed a few reports in the desmume forums of commercial games regressions, but the majority of such commercial games already don't play, as do a few homebrew games I tested with (on both versions, noizds failed to run). This software is very much a work in progress, and I think the recent releases reflect on that. -- Upstream version 0.7.3 available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144389 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 144183] Application Switcher bring to front incorrect when zoom is set to 0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz-plugins If you set Application Switcher's zoom setting to 0, apps will blink in and out in ways during transitions that even a .1 zoom will not trigger. It's a bit complicated to give an example, but here we go -- to reproduce: 1. Enable Application Switcher applet 2. Set Zoom setting to 0 (I used CCSM to do so) 3. Launch Firefox and maximize. 4. Launch gnometerm. 5. Hold down alt, tap tab. Notice how firefox is brought to front, and gnometerm is hidden. 6. Release alt. Hmm. That part works as well. But replacing the IP with the netbios name (jldugger) fails, even though the browser clearly displays both computers. This works fine on windows, so I doubt it's the router. It won't work in edgy, due to a known bug. I don't seem to have a Dapper CD on hand, so I can't test that out immediately. Obviously using the ip is a workaround, but I don't think the router gives IPs assoicatively with MACs. And it won't work well for computers I don't already know the IP of, though I suspect there's a command line tool for the job. Obviously a first step in the right direction would be to attempt to use the source from Ubuntu packages instead of directly from CVS. apt-get source and apt-get build-dep should be very helpful in determining whether the patches apply cleanly to Ubuntu's current system. Of course, if the patches introduce new problems to users without any fingerprint readers, that would have to be addressed as well. Here in a couple weeks edgy will be released, and perhaps a few MOTU will be interested in pitching in for edgy+1. [Bug 63305] Toshiba Tecra M7 fn keys don't create events
Public bug reported: I recently upgraded my Toshiba Tecra M7 from dapper to edgy (full reinstall). Previously, the Fn keys were operating, but now they fail to work, and don't create any ACPI events, judging from /var/log/acpid. ** Affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Toshiba Tecra M7 fn keys don't create events https://launchpad.net/bugs/63305 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 63305] Re: Toshiba Tecra M7 fn keys don't create events
On further investigation, it seems the toshiba_acpi module won't load. From /var/log/messages: Oct 1 09:42:51 jldugger-tablet kernel: [17179593.404000] pcc_acpi: loading... Refusing to load module ktoshkeyd is what turns Fnkey presses into acpi events. I'm not sure whether this is the correct pacakge for this bug anymore, because sudo modprobe toshiba_acpi results in a kernel oops. ** Attachment added: /var/log/messages trimmed http://librarian.launchpad.net/4567924/messages ** Summary changed: - Toshiba Tecra M7 fn keys don't create events + toshiba_acpi fails to load ** Description changed: I recently upgraded my Toshiba Tecra M7 from dapper to edgy (full reinstall). [Bug 30969] Re: monitor goes to standby when playing a movie in totem fullscreen
I have gnome-power-management to set the screen idle never and it still goes off after 20 minutes. My fix was to go into xorg.conf and just comment out the DPMS line for the monitor. So at least, there's a workaround. Probably not acceptable for laptops though. -- monitor goes to standby when playing a movie in totem fullscreen https://launchpad.net/bugs/30969 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 63270] Re: Network monitor applet distorted
I have the same problem. The spacing is too wide on both the left and right. Tried looking into gconf, but the only setting I found was which app to launch for the Configure button. ** Attachment added: Desktop Screenshot http://librarian.launchpad.net/4566003/Screenshot.png -- Network monitor applet distorted https://launchpad.net/bugs/63270 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
