[Bug 1879633] Re: Killer 500s (QCA6390) WLAN/BT [17cb:1101] unavailable

2021-02-03 Thread Kayvee
I figured it out! Here's what I had to do:
(copied from:
https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/ath11k/installation)

git clone
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git
cd linux-firmware
sudo cp -r ath11k/ /lib/firmware/

So far it is working fine. I am able to close the laptop lid, put it to
sleep and WiFi connects automatically after the machine wakes up.

Thank you @kchsieh and @vicamo
I followed the steps mentioned above and installed the linux-headers-oem-20.04b

still don't see the WiFi card recognized.

[Bug 1879633] Re: Killer 500s (QCA6390) WLAN/BT [17cb:1101] unavailable

2021-02-02 Thread Kayvee
Hello @andch,
I am also having similar issues. I have a XPS 13 9310, Core i7-1165g7 with 32GB
of RAM and followed your steps to add the canonical-kernel-team ppa and install
the two packages. That repository no longer has linux-headers-oem-20.04b but
has linux-headers-oem-20.04.

Here's what I have:
linux-image-oem-20.04/groovy,now 5.8.0.42.46 amd64 [installed]
linux-headers-oem-20.04/groovy,now 5.8.0.42.46 amd64 [installed]

My XPS firmware (bios version) is 1.2.5.
After running fwupdmgr get-updates and fwupdmgr get-upgrades I do not see any
new updates available for my machine.

I cannot get the WiFi working. Any help is appreciated.

[Bug 788159] [NEW] Useless empty space in the place of thunderbird menu

2011-05-25 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Unity integration of thunderbird removed the menu bar from the
thunderbird window and moved it up to the panel. All that is remaining
in that area now is empty space (except for an activity indicator circle
at the top right corner) defeating the purpose of saving space on
smaller screens. See attached picture.

I have been having this problem ever since I upgraded from Maverick to
Natty beta. I used to have a previous version of likewise-open installed

[Bug 561266] Re: Reply doesn't choose the good email sender like in previous version

2010-11-02 Thread Kayvee
I am experiencing the same problem. I have multiple GMail accounts
configured in my Evolution: GMail-1 is my default account. When I
'Reply' to an email sent to my GMail-2 account, it gets sent using the
GMail-1 (my default) account instead of GMail-2 account which is the
account to which the email was sent to in the first place.

I am using Ubuntu Maverick with Evolution 2.30.3

[Bug 509621] Re: Evolution crashes while displaying emails containing .eml attachments

2010-01-20 Thread Kayvee
Pedro,
I used apport to report the above bug. The only thing I did different is that
instead of enabling apport permanently, I enabled it just once by entering:
sudo service apport start force_start=1

After evolution crashed, apport automatically allowed me to report the
problem. Apport recommended I upload the full report which is 152Mb.
Instead, I uploaded the shorter version of it. Did you want the full
report?

Hello Pedro,
I followed your instructions and submitted a new report. It is here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/509621

Apport suggested I submit the complete report. But it is 152 MiB and
with my internet connection it will take almost an hour to upload. So, I
uploaded only the smaller report. If you need the complete report, I can
upload that too.

[Bug 509621] [NEW] Evolution crashes while displaying emails containing .eml attachments

2010-01-19 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I received a forwarded email from a coworker. The contents of this email
show up inline in Thunderbird. However, when I am using Evolution, the
email shows up as having .eml attachments. When I click on the
attachment button to display its contents inline, evolution crashes.

I am currently using Karmic (64 bit). In Jaunty (32 bit), I have the
same problem - I cannot open the .eml attachment inline. However, in
Jaunty, Evolution does not crash. It displays an error saying that it is
unable to save the attachment.

[Bug 509203] [NEW] Evolution calendar adds event to an incorrect date

2010-01-18 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

To reproduce this bug,
(1) go to Evolution calendar and change the calendar display to month view
(2) scroll down to a different month
(3) double-click on any date in order to add an event on that date
(4) a new window appears where the details of the events can be put but the
date in that window is not the correct one. it is the date in the last row of
the same column your intended date is in

Note: this works fine if you do not scroll down to a different month.

[Bug 508947] [NEW] Evolution crashes when trying to open emails containing .eml attachments

2010-01-17 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I received a forwarded email from a coworker. The contents of this email
show up inline in Thunderbird. However, when I am using Evolution, the
email shows up as having .eml attachments. When I click on the
attachment button to display its contents inline, evolution crashes.

I am currently using Karmic (64 bit). In Jaunty (32 bit), I have the
same problem - I cannot open the .eml attachment inline. However, in
Jaunty, Evolution does not crash. It displays an error saying that it is
unable to save the attachment.

[Bug 380034] [NEW] openoffice impress slide master does not update fonts

2009-05-24 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

In openoffice impress I made a presentation and later decided to change
the fonts. So, I went to View > Master > Slide Master and changed the
fonts there. I remember in OOo 3.0 (and earlier) the fonts would update
automatically. That does not happen in the case of OOo 3.1 Once I click
on one the text box of a slide, the font gets updated. Another way is to
just close the file and reopen it.

[Bug 379043] [NEW] last played list does not update in amarok 2.0.2

2009-05-21 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

I am using Amarok 2.0.2 in Jaunty and I noticed that the 'Last Played'
tracks list in the center panel does not show the tracks that I played
last. It seems to be showing 4 tracks from an album that I added to the
collection a little while ago. I added more tracks to my collection
after that though. So, it is not that the plasmoid is displaying latest

[Bug 71045] Re: pymol can not find the BLOSUM62 matrix; wrong path

2009-05-20 Thread Kayvee
I am using Pymol on Jaunty and came across a similar bug.
The error I see is this:
Match-Error: unable to open matrix file
'/usr/share/pymol/pymol/matrices/BLOSUM62'.

When I checked, I noticed that /usr/share/pymol directory does not have another
'pymol' directory. However, /usr/share/pymol has a 'matrices' directory in
which BLOSUM62 is present. So, I created a 'pymol' directory in
/usr/share/pymol and made a symlink to matrices folder there.
That fixed it! But this is something that may need to be fixed so that it works
out of the box.

[Bug 335942] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in start_thread()

2009-04-29 Thread Kayvee
Hello,
I am experiencing this bug even with Jaunty final release. I installed it fresh
on my desktop (not an upgrade from Intrepid). When I insert a movie DVD, I can
play it with VLC so I guess the mounting part works okay. But when I insert a
blank CD to write stuff on to it and click either on 'CD/DVD Creator' or
'Brasero', all desktop icons disappear! Brasero does not start. Right-click
menu does not appear on desktop (it works okay when I am in a different program
like Firefox). I installed all the updates...so this fix is yet to be put into
updates?

[Bug 362003] [NEW] Thunderbird Add-On updates should require Master Password

2009-04-15 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

This isn't as much a bug as it is a feature that I think should be a part of
Thunderbird...
My thunderbird installation requires to enter a Password in order to open the
program. The other day I noticed that updates for a couple of my add-ons were
available and installation of those add-ons did not require me to enter the
master password. Shouldn't Thunderbird require a Master Password for this?

[Bug 221595] Re: keyboard shortcuts don't match with functions in Impress

2009-03-23 Thread Kayvee
I don't know if I have the same bug or not... but in my case shortcuts are
incorrect when I use them to manipulate text in a text box. For example, in
Impress when I select text in a textbox and do Ctrl-B which is for bold face,
the text gets justified - not changed to bold face. In similar fashion, Ctrl-A
results in a 'Save As' pop up instead of selecting all the text.
I tried André's suggestion but that did not work. My system language, keyboard
settings, OpenOffice language settings all are default English/US.

In Writer, I can select text at one place in a document; hold Ctrl

behavior is not just specific to Writer. I observed identical behavior

[Bug 251571] Re: Thunderbird's New Mail notification asterisks don't clear right away

2008-12-20 Thread Kayvee
I think I have the same problem. And I don't know if it is a bug or if
it is expected behavior... Here is what I noticed:

When I get a new mail, a red asterisk appears next to the folder in
which the new mail is put. When I click on that new mail to read, it
gets marked as 'Read' but the asterisk does not disappear. However, it
disappears once I click on any other email in the same folder or when I
click on some other folder in the folder tree.

[Bug 310021] [NEW] clicking on thunderbird new mail notification does not bring thunderbird window to the top

2008-12-20 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

I guess the title says it all. I get new mail notifications in thunderbird
appear as a rectangular box at the bottom right corner of my desktop. When I
click on one of those notifications,
Expected behavior (correct me if I am wrong here): Thunderbird window (if
minimized) should be restored and that particular mail should be highlighted
and open for me to read. The mail should then be marked 'Read'.
Current behavior: Email is marked 'Read'. If thunderbird is minimized, it gets
restored but the window itself is buried under several other windows that may
be open. If thunderbird is not minimized, then nothing really happens other
than the email getting marked 'Read'.

2008-12-17 Thread Kayvee
I don't see that purple icon. And nothing happens when I press Win+Space.
I have a similar computer at home too and after installing all updates and
restarting my home computer, Gnome-Do is working normally. I am not sure if
this is specific to only a few types of computers... Is there a way to find out
what's wrong? Like is there a command that I should give to get some error
information? log? etc?

[Bug 308621] [NEW] gnome-do not starting after update

2008-12-16 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-do

After installing updates today (16th Dec. 2008), I had to restart my
computer to apply all the updates. After restarting, my Gnome-Do was
supposed to start automatically. But, it did not. I tried starting the
program from Applications tree - that did not work. I tried it from the
terminal using 'gnome-do' command - it did not start and I do not see
any error messages either.

[Bug 306860] [NEW] evolution crashes upon changes in preferences

2008-12-10 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I saw similar bugs on Launchpad, but they are all old and say that the
problem is fixed... I think I am using the latest version of Evolution,
so may be it isn't fixed after all.

To reproduce this bug:
Go to Evolution. Edit > Preferences > Select an email account > Edit >
'Defaults' Tab > Change, say, 'Drafts' Folder location > Click 'OK' > CRASH!

I have two computers with Evolution installed and I can reproduce this every
single time in both the computers. When I start evolution from command line,
this is what I see in the end:

[Bug 251107] Re: [Intrepid] nvidia_drv.so: undefined symbol: AllocateScreenPrivateIndex

2008-11-03 Thread Kayvee
I can confirm that KDE3 and Wine applications do not show fonts after
installing nVidia 96 drivers. 3D acceleration and desktop effects work
fine though. My Wine applications and digiKam (KDE3 application) do not
show any fonts.

In the attached screenshot, I show three windows:
1. Notice the menus in the Notepad - the fonts are not there!
2. Notice that the tags in digiKam are not present.
3. Notice the menus in Kile - none of the menu items are visible.
Menu items in digiKam show same behavior (not shown).

[Bug 277373] Re: cannot start X session since intrepid beta on 845G-based system

2008-10-30 Thread Kayvee
I have the same problem. I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid RC. Login
window appears; but after entering user ID and password, the screen goes
blank. I read in Ubuntu Forums that removing compiz and compiz-core will
fix this problem which is what I did by entering the system in Terminal
mode. I installed all updates ever since. If I install compiz and
compiz-core now, the system behaves in the exact same way it did a few
days go (screen goes blank after entering user ID and password). So,
this issue is not yet addressed in Intrepid final release. I can use my
computer now without any Visual Effects. I hope this is not the case
forever.

[Bug 279775] [NEW] virtualbox screensaver

2008-10-07 Thread Kayvee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

I use Windows in VirtualBox and it works great except for one small
issue with the screen saver. I have the screensaver activated and
require password to get back to my system. When I am working on a
virtual machine in VirtualBox and do not move the mouse for a long time,
Ubuntu thinks that the computer is inactive and turns the screensaver on
after a little while. However, the computer is not inactive - I am
typing things in the virtual machine. I am using Virtual Box from Sun
directly, not the open source version. I am not sure if this issue holds
true for the OSE version also.

[Bug 212531] [NEW] Amarok album art not fetched from amazon

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Several albums in my collection do not have album art. When I right-
click on the empty album icon, I see an option to 'Fetch cover from

amazon.com and display the album art in a new window. This seems to be
broken now. Now, when I click on 'Fetch cover...', it does not display
any window with the album art. This happens with any album I try. I

i have set up my desktop with kubuntu hardy beta (upgraded from kubuntu
gutsy only recently) to print to a printer attached to your network.
when I print to that printer, a small printer icon appears in the system
tray. this used to happen when i was using kubuntu gutsy gibbon too.
however, in hardy, the printer icon does not disappear after the print
job is done. moreover, when i open the job viewer by double clicking
that icon, it shows that the job is 'processing' although the job
actually is complete.
