[Bug 1904079] Re: acute+C on US international with dead keys layout should produce cedilla sign (ç)

2020-11-30 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Well,

that doesn't happen on mine, except for the Chromium browser. I have
Telegram desktop installed as a snap but ç works fine. The same happens
on the other apps also.

Usually you need to have you keyboard layout configured as "English US-
Int with dead keys" in order for that to work.

[Bug 1904079] [NEW] Wrong keyboard behavior only inside chromium snap

2020-11-12 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

I've been facing a really strange bug in Ubuntu 20.04. My laptop has
Brazilian Portuguese layout (ABNT-2) but my external keyboard has a US
layout. So, in order to get a cedilla sign <ç> on those keyboards, I
have to change layout to US International with Dead Keys and use an
acute accent plus C <'+c>.

Everything works fine unless inside the Chromium (installed from snap).
In this case I get an accented c <ć>. So, I don't have a way to get a ç
inside chrome, which is used in Portuguese. I'm using chromium from
stable channel.

[Bug 1316191] [NEW] Mouse pointer is blocked on dual monitor setup

2014-05-05 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

On a dual monitor setup, by default, the mouse pointer is blocked when
trying to go to the other screen. This is a very annoying bug since the
user shouldn't be restricted to switch screens with his mouse pointer.

The fix for that is downloading compizconfig-settings-manager and
setting the Edge Stop Velocity to 1. This is way beyond a newbie would
actually know, so I request that this option come by default.

[Bug 1216186] Re: Elantech touchpad moves and clicks by itself

2014-03-27 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Hi rogergoll,

try following what jsalisbury proposed, and install the mainline kernel.
It fixed the problem for me.

[Bug 1216186] Re: Elantech touchpad moves and clicks by itself

2014-03-16 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Sorry to take so long to test it, but this hardware was my mom's one,
and she just can't test that to me. Besides that, I don't live close to
her.

The latestest mainline kernel offered by jsalisbury seems to fix it.
Will it be available on the next ubuntu releases??

[Bug 971809] Re: 168c:0032 Wifi connection unstable -- Atheros AR9485 ath9k

2014-02-21 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Well, I've just bought a new laptop with the same wifi chipset and it
doesn't work properly. The connection isn't unstable, but it's even
worse: the system only recognize the wifi interface after suspending the
machine and waking up again. That's so weird but it's the only
workaround I've found so far:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2172434

This driver certainly needs to be worked out.

The fact that X2go may or may not be better than FreeNX does not make a

Since nobody seems to give a good answer for this, I'm switching it back

[Bug 1216186] Re: Elantech touchpad moves and clicks by itself

2013-09-18 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
It's not a regression since it has always happened. This has happened
since the begining on the first instalation with Ubuntu 13.04 and still
persists on 13.10. I recently realized a very strange behavior which
made me more confused than ever:

If I reboot the system, it suddenly start's to work properly. But the
first cold boot always shows the problem. Usually I'd say it's a
hardware problem, but I discarted that since the machine is in dual boot
with Windows and everything works fine under it.

I'm clueless.

[Bug 1216186] [NEW] Elantech touchpad moves and clicks by itself

2013-08-23 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

I am facing a very annoying hardware problem. It's so bad tha it makes
hard even to report it: the mouse (touchpad in this case) keeps moving
to the left side of the screen and clicking by itself. So all the
programs on the Unity sidebar are keept being opened until the system
gets without memory and very slow.

Since the hardware is a relatively new ultrabook, I tought a newer
kernel could had solve this issue, so I upgrade to saucy. Everything
worked well after the first boot which followed the upgrade but after
rebooting again the same thing started to happen.

That's the device ID given by lsusb command:

Bus 003 Device 003: ID 04f3:0035 Elan Microelectronics Corp.

I also thought it could be a problem with the touchscreen, but dmesg
gives me a lot of error messages for the touchpad, with seems to be
recognized as a psmouse. Installing gpointing-device-settings package
and openning the config tool shows no touchpad related options.

It's not a matter of simply packaging it to Ubuntu, but the virtual

[Bug 1074794] [NEW] Can't cancel LightDM auto login

[Bug 1064118] [NEW] Problem to access DVD drive

2012-10-08 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

I have a very strange problem. I can't read audio on my DVD drive. When
I try to do it, it music starts to stumble and flick and I just can't
play the file well. The strange thing is that it happens only with audio
and not with other data files. The problem happens on every player: vlc,
totem, mplayer, audacious, etc.

It seems kernel can't access drive's cache, or something like that. I
had the same problem on Windows 7 but a firmware update solved the
problem which is very weird though. Here is some output from vlc:

[Bug 1021124] [NEW] very slow gnome-shell boot up on asus eee pc 1201N

2012-07-04 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

I don't know why, but my gnome-shell session takes longer to boot up
than the boot for the whole computer. I mean the gnome-shell boot by the
moment after I log in lightdm (after typing account name, password and
enter) until I can actually use the computer.

I know gnome-shell code is new and isn't as fast as it could be, but I
don't have this problem on the other computers I`ve got to use.

[Bug 969520] Re: IcedTea Java Web Start fails to open .jnlp file

2012-05-07 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
This could be the answer. The /usr/bin/javaws file from
openjdk-7-plugins is looking for the openjdk-7 runtime:

kemel@torresmo:~$ head /usr/bin/javaws

#!/bin/bash

JAVA=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java
LAUNCHER_BOOTCLASSPATH=-Xbootclasspath/a:/usr/share/icedtea-web/netx.jar
LAUNCHER_FLAGS=-Xms8m
CLASSNAME=net.sourceforge.jnlp.runtime.Boot
BINARY_LOCATION=/usr/bin/javaws
PROGRAM_NAME=javaws
CP=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/lib/rt.jar

I have changed it for:

#!/bin/bash

JAVA=/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre/bin/java
LAUNCHER_BOOTCLASSPATH=-Xbootclasspath/a:/usr/share/icedtea-web/netx.jar
LAUNCHER_FLAGS=-Xms8m
CLASSNAME=net.sourceforge.jnlp.runtime.Boot
BINARY_LOCATION=/usr/bin/javaws
PROGRAM_NAME=javaws
CP=/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/jre/lib/rt.jar

and it seems to be fixed

[Bug 986703] [NEW] libavahi-compat-libdnssd1 should be a dependency

2012-04-21 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

libavahi-compat-libdnssd1 should be a dependency since otherwise miro
will show a warning message saying that you are missing Bonjour or Avahi
DNS library to have some features like streaming content on the LAN.

This can be confusing to most users. If this library is available in the
repositories and there are some features in the application that require
it to work, it is reasonable to make this a dependency.

Thanks a lot,

[Bug 752672] [NEW] Low FPS with intel driver

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Since maverick, intel driver shows very low performance. Glxgears show

[Bug 746249] [NEW] Cannot blacklist nouveau module

2011-03-31 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

I`ve added the nouveau module to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf in order
to install the latest version of Nvida driver. I have a Nvidia ION GPU
but video playback performance is very poor.

I need to avoid the driver to be loaded to install the newest driver but
oddly, addind it to the blacklist had no effect.

[Bug 697059] [NEW] Add Sigil to universe repository

2011-01-03 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

Sigil is a multi-platform WYSIWYG ebook editor. It is designed to edit
books in ePub format.

Now what does it have to offer...

* Free and open source software under GPLv3
* Multi-platform: runs on Windows, Linux and Mac
* Full Unicode support: everything you see in Sigil is in UTF-16
* Full EPUB spec support
* WYSIWYG editing
* Multiple Views: Book View, Code View and Split View
* Metadata editor with full support for all possible metadata entries (more
than 200) with full descriptions for each
* Table Of Contents editor
* Multi-level TOC support
* Book View fully supports the display of any XHTML document possible under
the OPS spec
* SVG support
* Basic XPGT support
* Advanced automatic conversion of all imported documents to Unicode
* Currently imports TXT, HTML and EPUB files; more will be added with time
* Embedded HTML Tidy; all imported documents are thoroughly cleaned;

* An actually usable user interface
* Native C++ application
* Bugs :)

[Bug 692303] [NEW] OCRfeeder crashes the system by using all RAM memory available

2010-12-19 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ocrfeeder

I just can't use ocrfeeder. I tried importing a PDF file and a folder and on
both cases, ocrfeeder fails by getting all the memory available.

I have a 4gb system, which had aprox. 3,5 gig free before ocrfeed trying to
import stuff, an none after it. The program, and the whole system gets, very,
very slow.

That turns the program unusable.

I've tried ocrfeeder 0.6.6-3 on ubuntu maverick.

[Bug 681850] [NEW] dpkg is not reinstalling some configuration files properly

2010-11-26 Thread Kemel Zaidan aka Legendario
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dpkg

I was trying to solve some problem on GDM and I deleted the file
/etc/gdm/gdm.schemes
Afterwards I reinstall the gdm package with:
# aptitude reinstall gdm

but the file, witch is actually inside the deb package is not reinstalled. It
only works if I type:
# dpkg -x /var/cache/apt/archives/gdm_2.30.0-0ubuntu5_i386.deb /

I tried with:
# apt-get install gdm --reinstall

and this didn't place the file in the right place.

If this happen with other packages too, that's a very serious bug.
Aptitude or dpkg must decompress all the files in the package properly.
