Still a problem in Kubuntu Hardy - cleanly installed this time, not switched from vanilla Ubuntu. It's happened to me countless times and it's only ever affected the bottom panel. Sorry to rain on Bruno's reproducibility, but the case that brought me here again did not meet that description. I switched desktops and clicked an application in the task bar that was not minimized, to bring it to the foreground. It was not brought to the foreground, and the panel disappeared and would not reappear. Changing *any* setting on *any* panel and applying the changes restores the bottom panel's 'show' behavior. [Bug 136208] Re: No sound in kopete
I got it working, but I can't explain my fix. Originally, my sound system was set (in Kcontrol) to ALSA, and KDE system sounds, mplayer, and amaroK were all sharing the sound card. Trying to test the configured Kopete sounds from within Kopete (under Settings - Configure Notifications...) sometimes resulted in a pop from the speakers several seconds after attempting to play the sound, but otherwise nothing. I switched the sound system to OSS, which allowed KDE, mplayer, and Kopete to work, but not amaroK. In the course of trying to get amaroK to use OSS, I deleted ~/.xine/config. (That probably has nothing to do with the fix, but you never know.) Then I switched the sound system back to ALSA. Magically, Kopete was able to play sounds! This fix survived a reboot. [Bug 34947] Re: Volume Control slider doesn't update
I'm having a possibly related problem in Gutsy. Not sure if I should open a new bug. The volume control and mixer applet both behave erratically. The mixer applet slider jumps around wildly when scrolling and the applet unpredictably displays the mute icon, usually without actually muting. The volume control has different behavior for the left and right volume channels. The right side slider behaves pretty much normally, while the left side jumps up and down even more wildly than the mixer applet slider. Whenever the left slider is moved it breaks the link button underneath. Consequently, it is extremely difficult to adjust the left and right channels to the same volume. In my case, this seems to be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-lib/+bug/33736, and it corrects itself if my USB sound device is unplugged and replugged after logging in but before starting any of the problematic apps. -- [Gutsy Beta] No sound in some apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/148710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 150386] dmix not enabled for USB devices plugged in at boot
Public bug reported: With alsa-lib 1.0.14 1ubuntu7, it appears that dmix is not enabled by default for USB devices plugged in when the system boots. As a workaround, unplug and replug the USB sound device and restart any ALSA- enabled applications (including the ALSA mixer if affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/150089). Unplugging and replugging the USB sound device also fixes sound in the Firefox Flash plugin. This might be considered a regression of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-lib/+bug/33736. ** Affects: alsa-lib (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- dmix not enabled for USB devices plugged in at boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150386 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 148710] Re: [Gutsy Beta] No sound in some apps
I'm experiencing the same issue. I installed Gutsy from the beta CD, and initially sound worked in Flash/FF. After updating packages it does not. These traditional Flash sound fixes do NOT solve the problem: 1. symlinking libesd 2. creating a socket file 3. renaming the asound config files (they didn't exist) ALSA doesn't appear to be installed on my system at all. System sounds do not work. I can, however, play audio files with Totem and Rhythmbox. ** Changed in: alsa-utils (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- [Gutsy Beta] No sound in some apps https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/148710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 67189] Re: smb password not being saved in gnome keyring
Yes, the problem also affects wlan settings. I have to reenter my password every time I boot, then manually perform all the network actions that should have occurred automatically. IMHO, this is *the* showstopper bug for 7.10 release. Even worse than the system and Flash sound regression a couple days ago. -- smb password not being saved in gnome keyring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/67189 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 29760] Re: Sound does not work properly in Flash in firefox
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 34051 *** Works for me! I think the sound sync is a Firefox problem. I've noticed the exact same delay watching YouTube videos with Firefox on WinXP. -- Sound does not work properly in Flash in firefox https://launchpad.net/bugs/29760 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
