[Bug 1891648] [NEW] Cannot switch to A2DP profile w/o restarting bluetooth.service
Public bug reported: When connecting to any Bluetooth device, PulseAudio fails to change its profile to A2DP (and leaves it in HSP/HFP). The following is appended to /var/log/syslog when trying to change profile in pavucontrol: Aug 14 14:59:02 k-laptop pulseaudio[18882]: Refused to switch profile to a2dp_sink: Not connected I'm currently using patched pulseaudio-modules-bt from here: https://github.com/EHfive/pulseaudio-modules-bt. But the problem persists with both packages. The working workaround I found is: sudo systemctl restart bluetooth.service bluetoothctl # list device MACs devices # use a MAC from the list above connect After doing this, it is possible to switch to A2DP profile in pavucontrol. But such restart is required each time device is connected. [Bug 1866194] Re: External audio device shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker, or none at all.
Few more things for my case (Dell Precision 7510). AUX headphones' sound seems to be connected to active input device: switching input devices (headphone mic, built-in mic, dock mic (unplugged)) causes sound to appear in the headphones. Although heavily distorted by noise. But the distortion is not like in Adam's (krychek) case. Although, getting headphones to work (w/ the distortion) and then logging in and out removes the noise. But touching input device settings in pavucontrol brings the noise (or the original issue) back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1866194 Title: External audio device shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker, or none at all. [Bug 1866194] Re: External audio device shows up in the sound output options but the sound keeps being emitted from the internal laptop speaker, or none at all.
Dell Precision 7510 Plugging headphones via AUX (3.5mm jack) disables the sound. Workaround: in pavucontrol switch profile of the default device ("Built-in Audio") from "Analog Stereo Duplex" to "Analog Stereo Output" and back (after switching back, audio in headphones starts working). After removing ~/.config/pulse (and then rebooting) the workaround no longer works. [Bug 1748471] Re: Automatic squid reload on resolv.conf update does not work
Hi Christopher, Sorry for the invoke-rc.d command mistake: it was jsut a typo. Of course you are right and the actual command there like you have said. As for the resolvconf, it is installed on my machine: $ apt policy resolvconf resolvconf: Installed: 1.79ubuntu8 Candidate: 1.79ubuntu8 Version table: *** 1.79ubuntu8 500 500 http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I would like to underline that on my Artful installation `invoke-rc.d squid reload` somehow does not cause Squid to re-load the configuration correctly: it is not able to go to network (although network is set up correctly) showing instant HIER_NONE/ in the access.log. [Bug 1748471] [NEW] Automatic squid reload on resolv.conf update does not work
Public bug reported: There is a script (/etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/squid) provided by the squid package which calls: invoke-rc.d reload squid || true The thing is, that command somehow does not cause the squid to reload. This is particularly painful when Ubuntu is being contained in VirtualBox and some resolv.conf changes are done during the boot process. I.e. after the system boot the squid proxy server is just not working (it returns HTTP/500 and HTTP header X-Squid-Error: ERR_CANNOT_FORWARD). In access log one can see something like this: 1518190105.150 0 127.0.0.1 TCP_MISS/500 4495 GET http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/artful-security/InRelease - HIER_NONE/- text/html 1518190105.153 0 127.0.0.1 TCP_MISS/500 4474 GET http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/artful/InRelease - HIER_NONE/- text/html I.e. HIER_NONE appears practically after 0 miliseconds means that squid is experiencing connectivity problems. That being said, reloading squid using systemd equivalent of the invoke- rc.d command works just fine (in the script also): systemctl reload squid || true So, to sum up, I would like to ask to fix the squid package by either: * Change /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/squid to use `systemctl reload squid` * Make `invoke-rc.d reload` work properly for squid Environment: Description:Ubuntu 17.10 Release:17.10 squid: Installed: 3.5.23-5ubuntu1.1 Candidate: 3.5.23-5ubuntu1.1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: squid 3.5.23-5ubuntu1.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-32.35-generic 4.13.13 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-32-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.7 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: KDE Date: Fri Feb 9 17:03:47 2018 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-08-03 (555 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) SourcePackage: squid3 UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to artful on 2017-10-05 (127 days ago) mtime.conffile..etc.squid.squid.conf: 2017-11-27T19:29:36.332000 ** Affects: squid3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful ** Patch added: "Proposed fix: use systemd in /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/squid" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1748471/+attachment/5051932/+files/squid.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1748471 Title: Automatic squid reload on resolv.conf update does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid3/+bug/1748471/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Adding 'acpi_backlight=vendor dell_laptop.backlight=0' to kernel command line (no 'acpi=noirq' or 'acpi=off') results in succesfull boot. ** Description changed: With Quantal amd64, the machine fails to boot without additional kernel parameters. This is reproducible in 3.5.0-18-generic 3.5.0-18.29 and 3.6.3 mainline. This is not reproducible with Quantal i386. A Ubuntu release bisect revealed the regression is going from Lucid amd64 to Maverick amd64. Here's more detailed description of dependency between used kernel flags and boot process: 1. acpi=off - every boot succeeds, but laptop heats very fast (CPU fan also is very loud) 2. acpi=noirq - not every boot succeeds (approximately 2 from 8 are successful. starting from 3.5.0-10~ubuntu kernel and 3.6.0 mainline, on earlier kernels - every boot succeeds) + 3. acpi_backlight=vendor dell_laptop.backlight=0 - every boot succeeds. [Bug 1072891] [NEW] Linux kernel requires acpi=noirq or acpi=off on Dell XPS 15z to boot
Public bug reported: Hello, There's a problem with ACPI subsystem in Linux kernel (3.5.0-18~ubuntu and 3.6.3 mainline). The machine fails to boot without additional kernel flags, that disable ACPI features. Here's more detailed description of dependency between used kernel flags and boot process: 1. acpi=off - every boot succeeds, but laptop heats very fast (CPU fan also is very loud) 2. acpi=noirq - not every boot succeeds (approximately 2 from 8 are successful. starting from 3.5.0-10~ubuntu kernel and 3.6.0 mainline, on earlier kernels - every boot succeeds) 3. no acpi flags - can't boot at all There's an article on Ubuntu Wiki saying that linux on Dell XPS 15z should be booted with acpi=noirq parameter: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Laptops/Dell/XPS/15z Please see attached photos of screen with boot log when failed to boot. [Bug 1048141] [NEW] Ubuntu boots up in a black screen
Public bug reported: Hello, I'm using Dell XPS15z laptop with kubuntu 12.10 beta 1 and kernel 3.5.0-13 amd64 (additional kernel flags: acpi=noirq). The problem is that ubuntu with this kernel boots up in a black screen: it looks like monitor gots powered off. Besides, the laptop has hibrid graphics: nVidia 525M GT and Intel HD: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 540M] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Bumblebee is not installed. Maybe the new X.org 1.13 desides that display is connected to nVidia card and outputs graphics through discrete graphics ?(nvidia-current drivers are installed). For now I have no opportunty to check nVidia card iutput (e.g. via discrete HDMI), I'll check it tomorrow. [Bug 990635] Re: Sans serif cyrrilic font in kubuntu 12.04 is bad
As long as 'sans-serif' in normal in Gnome/Unity and the patch, changing language detection criteria, fixes the problem I can assume that the problem is that Qt's(KDE's) lang passed to font configuration xml's differs from one in GTK (Unity/Gnome). I mean it turns out in /etc/fonts/conf.d/90-fonts-nanum.conf here: test qual=any name=lang compare=contains stringko/string /test that lang for cyrillic(russian) contains substring ko.
