[Bug 1940143] [NEW] installer crashed at grub step, LG gram 2021 17
Public bug reported: this was a re-install on a win 10 dual boot. Grub had vanished and ubuntu became un-bootable. so I was installing ubuntu 20.04.02 over itself. The installation appeared to be complete, but failed at the grub installation step. The "Restart Now" dialog was visible. Hardware is LG gram 17 2021 with default bios settings, e.g. secure boot not disabled, etc. Boot order did have ubuntu first, and the grub menu was working until I booted into win 10. after that, it booted directly into win 10. When I used F10 to get to the boot menu, ubuntu was there in the top position, but it would not boot. [Bug 1579734] [NEW] installation media (external 36gb hard drive) won't run live ubuntu, only the install option. Spits out errno5 every time I try to install to internal ssd, always at a different po
Public bug reported: Upgraded to 16.04 from 14.04, and upon discovering that it wasn't complete enough for my use, I decided to roll back. Downloaded the 14.04.4 iso from ubuntu website, ran "sudo dd if=(iso file) of=/dev/sdb(external hard drive). Everything went smoothly, as usual. Booted installation media and went straight to install because I assumed it would be a quick process. ... I've tried it probably 10 times now, and get "errno5" every single time. Always at a different point during install. I've told it to use the entire disk where my 16.04 install was, in order to wipe out any remnants of the old install and allow for a fresh experience...It wiped grub only, now I haven't got a single bootable os on any of my harddrives, as the "boot ubuntu to try it out" option on my installation disk, doesn't seem to work. It boots to a black screen. I can't manually wipe the ssd for installation in grub either. I am unable to select the format option on the partition that I'd like to wipe. Same problem as well. The problem started after switching to a SSD disk instead of an old normal disk. [Bug 157319] Re: Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0" while using -nvidia with Xinerama turned on
Bug affects me pretty often when using a dual monitor setup to edit text. kris@knix1 ~/Desktop $ cat /etc/*-release DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint DISTRIB_RELEASE=10 DISTRIB_CODENAME=julia DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 10 Julia" I think it's related to something being mounted within a different context. [Bug 828929] [NEW] Settings change with each boot
Public bug reported: I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 x64 on a Dell inspiron 1545. I have upgraded my HDD to a 110GB SSD. After I did that every time I boot my machine the icons and setting change. The correct programs are locked in the Unity launcher when the default 11.04 icons appear. Can anyone confirm this? [Bug 690448] [NEW] gedit hangs before closing files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit I stay connected to a lot of SFTP mounts. Sometimes things are slow to respond under certain conditions, which I'm not really sure what they are, but I do know that closing files always does it. I suspect it's doing a filemtime() style check. [Bug 674112] Re: XOrg Segmentation Fault with XServer when running MultiSeatX
As a workaround to anyone dealing with this: Change the value in KDMRC that allows for retrying to start kdm several times, and this will work around the bug until a fix is made.
