[Bug 1293010] [NEW] Lose HP LaserJet every time system reboots

2014-03-15 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

I have a HP LaserJet P1102 and it worked just fine in 13.04 but when I
upgraded it 13.10 (both upgrade and fresh install) it stopped keeping
the details correctly after a reboot. Just upgraded to 14.04 same
problem.

It will print just fine if I delete the printer, and reinstall (using
the pre-installed drivers). BUt this must be done every single time the
system reboots.

[Bug 914154] [NEW] Ad banner points to non-canonical maintained software when told to show only those that are canonical maintained

2012-01-10 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10

Open Ubuntu Software Centre. Click "View" in menu bar, then "Canonical
Maintained Software" this hides the paid software and other software
titles not officially maintained by Ubuntu.

The ad still shows "Trauma" in it's rotation and allows you to click on
it through to it's summary page and allows you to purchase.

When you go back to the main home screen by clicking "All Software" from
the Trauma summary page, the non canonical software is still hidden.
This differs to how it would work if you were to search for "Braid"
while showing only canonical software. The search suggests it shows you
the 1 non-canonical maintained software that matches the search.
Advancing to Braid's summary page from here, and then clicking "All
Software" now shows all software, not just that from Canonical.

Bug description:
Keyboard shortcut to minimise all windows required.

  Description:

Ubuntu used to have a button on the bottom left corner of the screen
that minimised all windows. This button was equivalent to a button
that used to exist in MS Windows prior to the advent of Vista/Windows
  7. In Unity this button has been removed, however a 'minimise all'
function is still useful to allow users to go directly to their
  desktop.

  Competitive analysis:

Minimise all windows functionality in other operating systems.

Windows 2000 & Windows XP: Button on desktop and "Windows Logo+D" key
combination
Window 7: "Windows Logo + D" key combination only
  OSX: "Option-Command-M" Key combination only

  Change request:

  - Create a small application that when clicked minimises all windows.
Users who would like a 'minimise all windows' button can then add this
application to their launcher. This app will not be in the Launcher
  by default.

[Bug 840176] Re: no sidebar novigation anywhere except for home page.

2011-09-05 Thread Kyle Clarke
Hi Matthew,

Yes I beleive it should be persistent in the entire experience. why?
because that's what we've come to expect of an online store experience.
Silly I know. But we've made a lot of other design decisions based on
this same mentality.

You may find it a stuggle to understand why I beleive this is useful.
But I find it a struggle to see why having it would detract from the
experience you describe. By implementing, you lose nothing, but I gain
everything. Selfish? yeah probably.

I reported this as others on omg ubuntu have expressed the same
need/want (thread attached in my credit to the screen shot taker)

Thanks

[Bug 655184] Re: Menus should be condensed to fit panel/overlay of appmenu

2011-01-01 Thread Kyle Clarke
This doesn't help much, but in the context of the texmaker screenshot
above. This application would have difficulties displaying this menu on
anything but a fully maximised window on this resolution.

If you take away the ubuntu logo, and the indicators the menu would only
just fit in the horizontal space. I'm not really sure what to suggest to
fix this. A vertical menu doesn't really light my fire if you know what
I mean.

[Bug 681348] Re: Add "show me the desktop" keyboard shortcut

2011-01-01 Thread Kyle Clarke
What if you were to have an icon simlar to this one?

Window switcher, show desktop and trash all in one. Have it pinned at
the bottom of the launcher in place of the current trash. This would
break the ability to drag files into the trash. But maybe for future
version of Ubuntu/Unity it would be up a contextual overlay menu that
would allow you to drag the file into a the trash can, or a different
workspace.

[Bug 689929] Re: Update managers Apply Settings window doesn't trigger unity's smarthide

2010-12-22 Thread Kyle Clarke
These two windows are relatively small windows and thus don't actually
require the space created by hiding the launcher.

The update window described can't even be maximised and the Ubuntu One
window probably shouldn't be able to be maximised (it's really ugly, and
nothing).

To have some windows not trigger "intelihide" makes it seem more
"intellegent" in my books.

[Bug 665342] [NEW] Software center does not save credit card details

2010-10-22 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

USC should save credit card details.

Buying software or games should be as simple and streamlined as possible
to encourage impulse buying. Makes you think twice about buying

[Bug 439448] Re: Visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-10-16 Thread Kyle Clarke
This is purely speculation, but judging from my own experiences, and
from reading these comments. I have no programing abilities what so
ever. Just an End User who wants this system to take off as soon as
possible.

Doing anything to alter the startup time, like mounting multiple drives.
having many more, or many less programs in your startup or installing
large updates tends to cause this corruption.

Sometimes I have a near 100% success rate of causing this bug if I mount
2 or more drives (automatically) at bootup.

Based on the comment about GIMP, could this be a memory issue?

2010-08-15 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

I would nominate this as a papercut.

Most would agree that human behavour is now conditioned in a way that

[Bug 617688] [NEW] Rhythmbox no longer starts at bootup

2010-08-13 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Obviously it's a WIP, but I have to manually open Rhythmbox every time I
reboot my machine. Used to remember the state at reboot. From a fresh
boot I'd like to see media controls in SoundMenu and just be able to
click play without having to manually open my media player.

[Bug 555549] [NEW] About Ubuntu and Help take a very long time to start

2010-04-04 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Seems as though About Ubuntu and Help use Firefox. This makes for a very
long opening time. An about box simular to the Gnome about Box would be
more favourable. As it loads instantly and has all the relevent

[Bug 552325] [NEW] Chapter titles show by default on loading new movie

2010-03-30 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Whenever I watch a movie in "movie player" it plays "chapter 1" etc in
place of subtitles. It can be turned off in the menu options. But then
next time you load a movie, it defaults back to on.

Any way a new default can be set for the subtitles state?

[Bug 552119] [NEW] EoG should display progress bar in full screen mode

2010-03-30 Thread Kyle Clarke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Above title says it all. Progress bar should show when loading new
images (and not when image is already loaded) so you know the system has
responded to your button press. It would also be nice if the file name
showed in the centre of the progress bar so you knew what was being
loaded.

[Bug 545737] Re: Can not use HP PS3310 wireless network scanner

2010-03-26 Thread Kyle Clarke
Wow, Ubuntu rocks.

I've been away for a few days and havent had the opportunity to do the
prescribed "fixes". I did an update this morning, and my printer broke.
Did another update just now and printer's fixed, scanner works perfectly
for the first time ever.

Ubuntu = Community :)

Thanks

[Bug 545737] Re: Can not use wireless network scanner

2010-03-23 Thread Kyle Clarke
thanks for getting back to me, I figured this would be kicked around for
months if not longer without any one responding.

I typed the command into the terminal and it output :

device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname USB 2.0 Camera virtual device

As mentioned in my original post, it just recognises my webcam. btw.
Windows 7 didnt even recognise out of the box :P
