[Bug 1971656] Re: rtw89_pci failure on Lenovo P14s with Ubuntu 22.04
As maintainer of an rtw89 repo at GitHub, I have seen lots of complaints about this kind of hangups. Nearly all of these happen with Lenovo laptops. The remainder are a few HP machines. For some reason, the BIOS or the PCI interface in the Lenovo laptops are incompatible with the PCI code used in RTW89. My laptop is a Toshiba from 2014, and it never has any problems, thus I cannot diagnose the difficulty. The same is true for the software developers in Taiwan, with whom I have discussed the problem. This is the first I have heard that the problem started/got worse around April 11. That sounds like a candidate for bisection, which would have to be done with the mainline kernel, or even better, the one at wireless-next (git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wireless/wireless- next.git). Due to special patches in the GitHub version needed to build on older kernels, I upgrade the repo in batches, and lose the details of each individual patch from wireless-testing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971656 Title: rtw89_pci failure on Lenovo P14s with Ubuntu 22.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1971656/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1900347] Current status
Dear Mr. Bacher, I am a linux novice. You responded to a bug report I made in Oct 20, 2020. On February 26, 2021 there was a updated report posted here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/1900347 So has this bug been fixed? If so were would the fixed package be? If not when and how do bugs like this get resolved? [Bug 1947708] [NEW] Cannot configure suspend-then-hibernate
Public bug reported: Previous bug 1947617 was closed because my swap space was insufficient. Swap was increased to 24G and the problem remains. [Bug 1947617] Re: Cannot configure suspend-then-hibernate
I do not think that this bug report is invalid for multiple reasons (in order of importance): 1. The error message is not related to the root you identified. If the root cause is effectively a swap partition that is not big enough, maybe the error should say so. 2. The swap size was configured by the ubuntu installer. I would expect that the automatic installer configure the partition so that all the features are available, especially hibernate on a laptop. 3. Why would swap size have anything to do with hibernate? The system can dump memory in a regular file on the regular filesystem. Swapping is, as far as I understand, a way to extend memory when RAM is insufficient, not a way to store the whole volatile memory on disk. Anyway, thanks for your time and effort. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947617 Title: Cannot configure suspend-then-hibernate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1947617/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1944404] [NEW] [HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia, playback] No sound at all
Public bug reported: Hi...my problem is that I am using the nVidia GTX card connected by HDMI cable to a widescreen Samsung monitor that doesn't have speakers. Ubuntu assumes I can use that to play audio. In reality I'm using stereo speakers connected to the "center" output from the rear of the computer. This works fine in windows, but not in Ubuntu 20.04. I've tried several fixes to similar looking issues on line, but still I don't get sound. The only option I have under settings is for the HDMI/DisplayPort 2 - GM107 High Definition audio controller [GE Force 940 MX]. I've tried an old solution by adding hdajackretask and I've tried adjusting volume levels using alsamixer, but those solutions didn't help. Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance. I tried 3 keys, a RSA 2048 key created in 2012, a DSA 1024 key created in 2007, and a RSA 2048 key created in 2019. The "Import Key" menu option in Seahorse wont import either a binary nor an armored (asc) version for any of these keys. For either key version of any key an error message pops up "The information in this key has not yet been verified" and underneath the message are the details of the key. In the upper right corner "Import" appears and clicking on it does nothing. The key is not imported. In the file manager window a double click of the asc version of the key or using the menu choice "Open with Import Key" will import the key. A message apperars "the key blaa blaa has been imported". And infact it has. With the binary version of the key "keyfile.pgp" nothing works, no error message no nothing. This binary version can be imported using a terminal. As was noted in the other bug report, the sucessfully added keys are only listed after Seahorse is stopped and restarted. And finally Seahorse menu option "Export" will only export a binary version of keys even thought one of the choices is to export the key as an armored ".asc" version. I hope this is clear and detailed enough. [Bug 1900347] [NEW] Doesn't import gpg keys Doesn't export armored (asc) gpg keys
Public bug reported: Very similar to bug # 1577198. Seahorse (Passwords and Keys) won't import gpg keys. But if I double click on the gpg key in the file manager it will show as imported after I restart Seahorse. After keys are imported (using the double click method or CLI) they can only be exported as binary keys i.e. keyname.pgp. If I try the option to export as a keyname.asc version (armored) I only get the same binary key. Everything works fine with gpg in a terminal. [Bug 1862015] [NEW] KVM switch problems
Public bug reported: I installed 19.10 on my computer which is connected to a KVM switch. The keyboard and mouse no longer work. They worked just fine with 19.04. What am I missing? I don't get any error messages or other indication of a problemthey just don't work. I even went the route of installing 19.04 and upgrading to 19.10. also did version 18 and upgraded. Same issue. Tried a couple of KVM swtiches. All work fine in previous versions hooked up to a KVM switch, and so do my windows 10 systems and servers. Since 19.04 is useless without patching I have to settle for version 18 or go to another linux based system like oracle. At some point for long term support 18 will go away and only 19 will be supported. Unless the kvm switch issue is resolved I and a WHOLE lot of others will be moving on to other versions of linux. I can have my business get shut down because of poor testing on Ubuntu's part that mice and keyboards in a data center all of sudden stop working through kvms. Thank you. Re: [Bug 1820687] Re: Sound issue, or rather, lack of sound
I am not sure I know what a cold boot is but that partition is not gone yet. I can try once I know what it is. This is on an older Dell Dimension 8400 tower. Dual booting with Win 7 and separate drive with Win XP. This machine is what I use as a hobby for some gaming my laptop with dual boot Win 10, Linux Cinnamon 18.3 and Ubuntu Bionic Beaver won't do with ease. Laptop heats now and shuts down. Off topic but let me know and I'll try it. Thanks for your help and efforts. Re: [Bug 1820687] Re: Sound issue, or rather, lack of sound
I tried launching an earlier kernel, which has worked in the past. It did not this time and so I downloaded Linux Mint 19.1 to run side by side and transfer from its predecessor 18.3 to the newest one and when done will eliminate the elder partition. I have done that before, as well. This one was stubborn. The problem occurred once before in Ubuntu and I updated by clean install that time as well. I find it a bit tedious to state the many terminal commands suggested that I tried. I am still not so technically savvy. I do have a hands on like most around me don't but I am not there yet as far as a guru or wizard. [Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]
None of my hardware can duplicate this problem. Is the firmware installed? Look at the dmesg output to look for firmware failures. If you do have the correct firmware, there are two options that might help. Try the following: sudo modprobe -rv rtl8192ee sudo modprobe -v rtl8192ee aspm=0 If that does not help, then try sudo modprobe -rv rtl8192ee sudo modprobe -v rtl8192ee msi=0 If any other options show up, then your /etc/modprobe.d/ directory is screwed up. Delete the offending files and try again. If one of those options helps, then create /etc/modprobe.d/50-rtl8192ee.conf (as root), and add the single line containing "options rtl8192ee =0" where is the option you want to set. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239578 Title: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1239578/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1789419] [NEW] lynx will not recognize white space in filenames
Public bug reported: I'm using a script to find a list of all .pdf files on a url. But lynx seems to have a problem with spaces in filenames. [Bug 1786607] [NEW] gnome-keyring caches PGP password eternally
Public bug reported: I've been using the program `Pass` to manage my passwords, which uses a PGP key that I created for this purpose. I began noticing that after my first use of the passphrase gnome-keyring would cache the passphrase and no longer request it. This is a security issue as anyone with access to my machine can gain access to all of my passwords. I assumed the settings could be tweaked, so I used `dconf-editor` to edit the `gpg-cache-method` file to use `timeout` instead of the default setting. I also changed the `gpg-cache-ttl` to 1 second from the default, which was 300 I believe. I then restarted the keyring with `$ gnome-keyring-daemon -r`. This successfully reset the keyring and I was prompted for my password. However, it only worked once. After entering the password, gnome-keyring cached my password and this survives logging out or restarting the computer. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: gnome-keyring 3.28.0.2-1ubuntu1.18.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-30.32-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-30-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Aug 11 07:38:49 2018 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-04-26 (106 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180425.1) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-keyring UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic gnome-keyring -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1786607 Title: gnome-keyring caches PGP password eternally To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/1786607/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
