[Bug 1600624] Re: MacBook wifi doesn't work (brcmfmac)
Reinstalling 16.10 from scratch has resolved the issue; I no longer see the issue with 4.9-rc1 or any other kernel down to 4.5.4. No clue why. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600624 Title: MacBook wifi doesn't work (brcmfmac) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1600624/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

ldc (pakar) reports in post #5 that the interface may only stay up for a limited time. [Bug 1600624] Re: MacBook wifi doesn't work (brcmfmac)
Issue remains on 4.8.1. Boot is aborted and displays a rescue prompt. I'll try going back to 15.10 and see if any kernel versions exhibit the problem. [Bug 1575321] Re: brcmfmac: Direct firmware load failed
I do have a wired icon regardless of connection type. However, it is only the wired connection that actually works; disconnecting the cable does not change the icon, but does remove connectivity altogether (so there's a "wired-connection" icon even though networking is not working). It sounds like the file "brcmfmac43602-pcie.txt" is just missing from the kernel package, while it is expected to be present. Is that a reasonable deduction? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575321 Title: brcmfmac: Direct firmware load failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1575321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
