I found a workaround. I think that will help 12.04 support that Asus laptop suspend/hibernate feature. Just create and edit the file /etc/pm/sleep.d/20_custom-ehci_hcd and paste in thsi content: https://gist.github.com/2212526 and make the file executable. I have unpluged my USB webcam witch has a mic in it and sound now works. I have been able to plug it back and reboot, sound still working. But it has a little whistling distortion on some frequencies. (Analog Stereo Output) If I enable Analog Surround 5.1 Output, that my soundcard and my speaker set support, the distortion get worst has I slide down the bass level. I mean really worst. Also, the bass level slider does not seems to really change the bass level. I have verified that my speaker set is correctly connected, it is. One problem is that, if it is installed with icedtea6-plugin, java applets won't load in browser (only a gray rectangle no notice). The packages sun-javaX-plugin and icedtea6-plugin should conflict each other. Reproducible? Yes every time I try to read my Eagles DVD (hell freezes over). As a cannot choose audio settings, it is just impossible to play it. That DVD won't play if I dont first select audio settings at the very beginning. The steps? Put the DVD in CDROM, play it in totem, the first screen ask to select audio setting witch is not working. So no way to go further. I use an up2date Intrepid 64bit. Same here 2x1.8Ghz and 4Gio RAM, the bug nearly EVERY right click. I have not noticed the bug on my laptop (ASUS M51VA) but I use FF3.1 on it without mouse gesture extension.
