[Bug 146281] gnome-app-install crashes always

2007-09-28 Thread Littleiffel
Public bug reported:

I am trying the LiveCD Beta release of Gutsy, and I have tried to load
the Add/Remove Software, but it keeps crashing, and does not start at
all or hangs.

When I start the gnome-app-install from the terminal I get the following
output:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gnome-app-install

receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a
reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout
expired, or the network connection was broken.

[Bug 135227] Gutsy LiveCD does not boot from USB drive

2007-08-28 Thread Littleiffel
Public bug reported:

I have downloaded Gutsy Tribe 5 and burned to a disc. I connected a USB-
CD drive and booted (ThinkPad x60). I see the start up menu and I
selected to boot Gutsy normally. The progress bar for Kernel Loading
appears but stops at 41%. I have waited for 40 minutes, but it does not
go further.

I checked md5sum for the download. I have a Thinkpad x60 and connected a
USB DVD-drive. Everything went fine for Dapper and Feisty. I have not
been able to install Gutsy, yet!

[Bug 120392] Re: CAnnot delete Calendars in Evolution 2.10

2007-06-25 Thread Littleiffel
I did not copy/move/touch any files from .evolution from outside
Evolution. So for me it seems to be a bug, as it is impossible to delete
calendars from Evolution from within Evolution.

Somewhere I found that you can remove them by deleting files, but this
is not what I want.

Thank you

[Bug 120392] Re: CAnnot delete Calendars in Evolution 2.10

2007-06-25 Thread Littleiffel
I simply added several local calendar, and then I wanted to remove them
again, by right-clicking on the calendar Name and Select 'Delete'. A
confirmation Message appears, but nothing happens. The calendar is not
deleted.

Maybe this helps.

[Bug 120392] CAnnot delete Calendars in Evolution 2.10

2007-06-14 Thread Littleiffel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi,

I am using Ubuntu Feisty with Evolution 2.10.1. I upgraded from Ubuntu
6.10 some months ago. I noticed that I cannot remove/delete calendars in
Evolution. I created 4 different local calendars, now I don't need them
so I want to delete them. However, when I right-click the calendar item
in the list and select DELETE, and confirm my intention, nothing seems
to happen.

I launched evolution from the terminal, but there is no output, when I
try to delete a calendar. I know that this are not too much
informations, but I can give some if someone tells me what exactly you
need.

[Bug 117035] Re: Sound does not work WITHOUT apci=off command

2007-06-01 Thread Littleiffel
I resolved the problem by adding the following line to the
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base:

options snd-hda-intel index=0 single_cmd=1 model=laptop-eapd

Now the sound ALWAYS works, even without the boot option apci=off.

[Bug 117035] Sound does not work WITHOUT apci=off command

2007-05-26 Thread Littleiffel
Public bug reported:

I have a thinkpad x60 and problems with sound since Feisty. In Dapper
sound worked fine, after upgrade to Feisty sound often didn't work(but
sometimes did, had to reboot quite often)

Wanting to fix this I came to
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HdaIntelSoundHowto, but this made
sound to stop working, this time always.

I found out that setting the kernel boot option apci=off, makes sound
working. But I don't want to make apci off, as I am using Suspend and
hibernate every day.

I will post the output of several commands which may be useful:

[Bug 71204] Screen Brightness Little Pop-up window does not show the correct Brightness on a Thinkpad x60

2006-11-10 Thread Littleiffel
Public bug reported:

If i want to change the brightness of my screen on a Thinkpad x60 in
Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft), a small pop up window displays. However, I am
able to adjust screen brightness with the hardware
buttons(FN+home/FN+End), however the small pop up either displays half-
full when on battery an full when on AC-Adapter.

Well everything is working, it is just since this pop-up is new it would be
impressive if it was displaying the screen brightness level correctly

[Bug 35174] Re: ThinkPad X60 cannot Resume from Suspend

2006-06-28 Thread Littleiffel
I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.15-25-686 and now Resume/hibernate is not
working anymore, (while it worked perfectly with the -23 kernel)

-Now when trying to suspend, it is not going to sleep and it is impossible to
wake it up again.
 - Hibernate, suspends without a problem however resuming hangs with the usual
screen.

As I still have the old kernels, I tested them too, Hibernate does not
work on any kernel (2.6.15-23-386, 2.6.15.-23-686, 2.6.15-25-386) Always
the same hang.

However, Sleep is still working perfectly with the kernels
(2.6.15-23-386, 2.6.15.-23-686).

So as before the update/upgrade hibernate and sleep was working I wonder
why these kernels are not working anymore??

What I did, I install package linux-686-smp(apt-get install
linux-686-smp), and then through the update-manager installed the -25
kernel(..and some other stuff, tetex,...)

And I also obtained the hang with kernel -25.

Bye

Okay, I still got no go for hibernate. And as you report your system
suspends and hibernates, well I would be interested in the actions/steps
you have done to get it working.

 - Have you change configurations manually?
 - Installed additional packages?
 - Changed the bootparameters?

Could you please write what you have done since the installation, this
would be very helpful for me.

[Bug 35174] Re: ThinkPad X60 cannot Resume from Suspend

2006-06-22 Thread Littleiffel
iSorry for the messages, this one is the last for today...

Hibernate is also working(suspending and getting session back works).
However my wired network is down(after hibernate) and I am using the
NetworkManager which does not work either after coming up again.

The NetworkManger is not working because hibernate changes the
/etc/network/interfaces file.(To get NM working I had to comment out all
the devices except lo)

And now the file /etc/network/interfaces contains an entry, and
therefore NM is not working after coming up.

So does hibernate process alter the /etc/network/interfaces file???
