[Bug 1009188] Re: shotwell hangs when browsing photos or simply while using the mouse for browsing

2013-12-20 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Well, I had the same problem with a cron to chown and chmod all photos shared
by the accounts of my family.
I solved this by modifying the script launched by the cron to abort when an
instance of Shotwell is running.
Since this shotwell did not freeze any more.
But I think that a chown or a chmod on a n image of the gallery should not make
Shotwell freeze.

[Bug 573295] Re: Only eraser works on Wacom USB PenPartner in lucid

2011-04-26 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
As a matter of facts, I have got the same problem.

I tried some tricks found here and there to configure properly my device but I
only got the eraser to work properly.
I bought this PenPartner years ago fot my old iMac, and I found it last Weekend
under a pile of olds CDs ...

So I can't say it ever worked under Ubuntu but On my old iMac under mac
OS 9 it works fine. (But My iMac is not very up to date ...)

[Bug 370292] Re: [i855] X freezing on intel 855GM

2010-04-18 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Sorry for the delay but after some professional issues, I made some
manipulations on my laptop, and yesterday I managed to boot on the
2.6.31.1-855gmtest599-git522bb74 kernel.

I installed both image and headers, in first the boot seem to freeze,
but after booting on a previous kernel version with XOrg freeze and ssh
connection to reboot the laptop, I managed to boot. In fact I write this
text from my laptop.

does anyone made an other package I cant test form Karmic As I will not
upgrade to any version of Lucid Lynx if this correction is not released.

I think it is dangerous to try an upgrade with the risk of a XOrg freeze ...
(If I understand, the apw/red ppa is for lucid only ?)

[Bug 370292] Re: [i855] X freezing on intel 855GM

2009-11-17 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Hello, I experiment a similar problem with my ASUS S5N (Graphic card
intel 92852/855GM)

Since I upgraded my laptop to 9.10 from 9.04 I experiment random freeze
on GDM sessions. Sometimes I can move the mose but nothing else can be
done.

I didn't tried SSH because I never installed this on my computers (I
think I wil try)

But it is clearly link to XOrg or GDM as I didn't have problems when I quickly
switch to console tty1 (CTRL+ALT+F1)
I suspect an interaction with kernel.
When I boot on "normal" 2.6.31-15-generic kernel My computer freezes.
When I boot on "Old" 2.6.28-16-generic kernel My computer does not freeze but I
don't see mouse cursor and my touchpad is deactivated.

If someone wants more experiments on this computer I cant give all the
logs you can ask me or try all experiment you can imagine.

Re: [Bug 306168] Re: Unable to connect network drive SAMBA Share

2009-01-19 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Hello,
as the log file does not exist anymore we can see that purging winbind
removed the idmap errors.

For samba_3.2.3-1ubuntu3.5~ppa1 in your PPA, is there a procedure to install
this whithout uninstalling ubuntu-desktop ?
I tried to install your .deb files but as
samba-common_3.2.3-1ubuntu3.5~ppa1_i386 broke my dependencies I had to
reinstall the standard version.
I can't install samba_3.2.3-1ubuntu3.5~ppa1_i386 without installing your
version of samba-common.

I am blocked by my inexperiency of installing non standard versions ...

Regards,
LBT

Re: [Bug 306168] Re: Unable to connect network drive SAMBA Share

2008-12-24 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Hello,
Usually I use only Nautilus to connect to my NAS.
I did not try anything by command-line.
The symptoms are simple to explain :
I explore my smb shares with nautilus, open the icon of my NAS, select one
of the shares I created in my Freecom Web-based interface and after some
times Nautilus returns to my home directory.
I shouldn't be able to make experiments before 29th of december, as I am not
home. So if you have any idea to give me before I will register it and try
it ASAP.

Many Thanks,
LBT

[Bug 301794] Re: Ubuntu 8.1 cannot connect windows share

2008-12-02 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Excuse me bit if I understood well this workaround needs a server update
?

As my Freecom Network drive is like a blackbox and no firmware update is
available I am blocked ...

Is there something I can do to tell my client that my SMB server is a
pile of Old faulty code ?

All that I see are my two errors :
idmap uid range missing or invalid
idmap will be unable to map foreign SIDs

[Bug 194737] [NEW] Zlib not recognised by configure on 32 bit linux

2008-03-07 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Public bug reported:

After a successful compilation of celestia 1.5.0 on my x86_64 platform I
tried to compile it on my i686 platform.

I use the trial-and-error method to get the right configuration over the
needed packages.

I have selected zlib1g and zlib1g-dev packages has I know they are used
by celestia for configuration, compilation and installation.

On my x86_64 platform everything is working right, but I am not able to
make the auto configuration working on my i686 platform.

As I installed symmetrically both computers I suspect a difference
between the two platforms on the zlib behaviour.

[Bug 184666] Celestia is Unable to display correctly 3D objects

2008-01-20 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: celestia-common

I installes celestia-gnome frontend.
When I browse solar system in celestia some object are not displayed
(I use V1.4.1 but it was the same with the previous distributed version)

For example : ISS, Phobos, Deimos, Amalthea

It seems that some objects are missing (eg ISS) and other are not usable
(eg Amalthea as I found that /usr/share/celestia/models/amalthea.cmod is
defined into the package)

How can I help to get a complete working version of Celestia ?

[Bug 76557] Re: [solved by upgrade] Power manager does not see batteries

2007-05-03 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
** Summary changed:

- Power manager does not see batteries
+ [solved by upgrade] Power manager does not see batteries

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

After I installed Edgy Eft on my computer it seems that everything is
configured like I got a desktop computer and not a laptop, the Energy
manager does not allow me to configure a battery operated mode, and
there seem to be no difference between the time I operate on battery or
  on AC power.

  I have an ASUS A6000 AMD64, I am running Generic 64bits kernel.

-> on /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/AC0/ file 'state' is empty
-> on /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/ files 'alarm' 'info' and 'state' are empty

It seems that the bug affects also acpi, because when I want to switch
off my laptop, everything stops but the "running" LED stays on. I need
to press the power button until complete switch off
+
+ Edit 2007/04/03 :
+ After Feisty installation acpi problems where solved BUT "standard" upgrade
has failed.
+ If someone reads this before trying to upgrade with the same or similar
problem, try to upgrade with acpi disabeled as acpi was causing upgrade failure.

[Bug 76557] [Solved]Power manager does not see batteries

I just upgraded my laptop this week-end, it was awfull as the

control battery state with old bugged acpi config.

As my computer was unstable I was forced to make a brand new
installation.

I loose all my configuration but no essential data.

Then after a installation on my EXT3 partition My laptop works fine,
acpi is efficient and everything seems under control.

The only thing is that I need to reconstitute my config parameter, I
hope it is the last time.

Re: [Bug 70535] Re: nautilus crashes when copying a 4G file on a vfat volume

2007-02-21 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
I agree, FAT 32 can't handle Those hudge files, but nautilus should not
crash, it should raise an error like "FAT 32 file system is unable to handle
files larger than 4GB, Sorry".
IMHO this is a minimum.

Did you try to copy a 4.5GB from a NTFS volume to a FAT32 volume on Windows
? Explorer does not crash !

No problem ;) after all I am suposed to be a computer engineer ...

Please try booting with ACPI=off and report how this affects the

Upgrading my day-to-day computer to a pre-release does not make me feel
comfortable as my upgrade from Dapper to Edgy was a nightmare !

Alternatively, if I can find an easy to cancel way to test my edgy with a
new kernel version might be a good challenge for me !

To boot with ACPI=off, get to the grub menu (hit ESC when grub appears
> if you are booting with menu hidden), use the arrow keys to select your

Well, I feel puzzled, When I boot with acpi=off the only thing I can notice
is the disappear of the /proc/acpi file tree.

Therefore I noticed something that may help you : When I boot with acpi and
ac power unplugged I can read something into my
/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state. I will try later to see if this file evolves
as battery discharges (I put the gnome-panel battery tool to try it but it
sees nothing.)

But when ac power is plugged a "cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state" freezes
my gnome-term, I can only close it.

Hope it can help.

[Bug 76557] Power manager does not see batteries

2006-12-19 Thread Louis-Xavier Brusset
