[Bug 996916] Re: postgresql packages in the removal blacklist making it hard to upgrade

2020-09-30 Thread LuisC
Same thing here. Trying to update from 19.10 to 20.04 and getting this
error.

I know that I can solve by backing up my databases and removing all
postgres related packages, but I supposed that the Release Upgrader
should make everything "automagically".

[Bug 1778592] [NEW] Tooltip not shown when hovering the mouse

2018-06-25 Thread LuisC
Public bug reported:

Using baobab 3.28.0-1 in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (tested in 2 different
machines):

When hovering the mouse over the ringschart or the treemap, it should
show a tooltip with the name of the folders or files. Instead, it
"glows" for a second and then goes back to original color, without
showing the tooltip.

A short video showing this behaviour is here:

[Bug 1731888] Re: right-click menu on the terminal gets broken when terminal window is maximized

2017-12-15 Thread LuisC
It happens to me too.

I noticed that it happens when I maximize the gnome-terminal window, but
not always: right now, I have another gnome-terminal, maximized, with 3
tabs, and the right-click (contextual) menu works well.

I also noticed that, when maximized and "demaximized" again, the right-
click menu shows with more space than needed (as shown in the
attachment).

[Bug 1181666] Re: gnome-shell randomly blocks mouse clicks from working in app windows

2017-11-14 Thread LuisC
I have the same issue in Ubuntu 17.10 (Wayland).

I was using Netbeans, Chrome and a VirtualBox VM running Windows 10. It
seemed that the VirtualBox grabbed the mouse, but it has mouse
integration, and the actions bar and activities were clickable.

I couldn't resolve it by switching to another virtual terminal, neither
by running "gnome-shell -r" on a gnome-terminal (it said: (gnome-
shell:5963): mutter-WARNING **: Can't initialize KMS backend: Could not
get session ID: No such file or directory).

So, I had to close everything and logout and login again. It worked.

[Bug 1008197] Re: Cinnamon desktop freeze - no mouse actions, keyboard atl, ctrl, del works

2013-04-14 Thread LuisC
I don't know if it is exactly the same issue, but today I couldn't work
with Cinammon (1.6.7, Ubuntu 12.10, Kernel 3.5.0-27-generic). My system
hangs badly, even without opening any program. I can move the mouse
pointer but the click doesn't work. I can't swith to the terminal
(Ctrl+Alt+F1..F6), kill the X server (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) or anything.

I thought that it was a hardware issue, but then I switched to Unity and
then to Gnome 3, and both works (I also tried Cinnamon 2D but it doesn't
work).

I think that it may be an CPU usage issue, but, I open a gnome-terminal
and run top, but it seems to hang with Cinnamon.

I have Dropbox and Google Chrome (helper) in autostart.

How can I debug it?

[Bug 574679] [NEW] date does not log date changes in wtmp nor utmp

2010-05-03 Thread LuisC
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: coreutils

Apparently, the date command does not log date changes in /var/log/wtmp
nor /var/run/utmp.

I need a method to track date/time changes, and I found that it should
be logged in wtmp file.

In the man page (man wtmp):

The wtmp file records... ... logs the old/new system time when
date(1) changes it.

Description of my System:

Description:Ubuntu 9.10

coreutils:
  Installed: 7.4-2ubuntu1

What I expect to happen:
When I change the date or time with the date command, it should log 2 record in
wtmp: ut_type = NEW_TIME and ut_type = OLD_TIME

What happened instead:
The command date changes the date/time and nothing is logged in wtmp/utmp.

Methods to comprove it:

1) With inotify:
1.a) Install inotify-tools package
1.b) open two terminals.
1.c) In one terminal, ejecute: sudo -i
1.d) In the other terminal run: inotifywait -m -r /var/log/
1.e) When the message Watches established appears, go to the terminal that is
as root, and change the date (date )
Nothing happens with /var/log/wtmp.
If you try with /var/run/utmp, also nothing happens.

2) With a C Program
I have done a small C program to try to get the NEW_TIME registers (attached).
It prints the user that changed the time, or There was no time change if the
NEW_TIME record was not found.
I expected to see my user name or root after a time change with date, but
nothing is logged in utmp.
(to compile the file: gcc -o utmp_check printtimechange.c ; to use:
./utmp_check).

[Bug 216250] Re: contact-lookup-applet freezes - not working at all (Gutsy Hardy)

2008-05-13 Thread LuisC
There is not a backtrace. The program does not crash. It is working, but not
accepting keyboard input.
The text area of contact-lookup-applet does not get focus. When I try to write
in it, the application that is in the front of the other windows (e.g.: Gedit,
Terminal, OpenOffice) receive the text.
If I copy a name from gedit (or another program), I can paste it on
contact-lookup-applet by right-clicking it and selecting Paste, but when I
press Enter to start the search, the application that is in front receive the
Enter.

For me, it works when I disable compiz (From System - Preferences -
Appearance, Visual Effects - None).
