** Description changed:

I have a Fujitsu Siemens B Series laptop (500 MHz CPU, Ati Rage Mobility
gfx card). On 9.04 everything worked fine: I was able to set vga=0x315
to get 800x600x24 mode in console and run an app I have that's written
in SDL. On 9.10 however all I get is a blank screen after adding
vga=0x315 to kernel line. This is true for Grub2 and Grub legacy.

[Bug 481385] Re: Setting video mode in Grub fails

2010-05-17 Thread MaV
Okay, I've tested latest upstream kernel. Results: Now it doesn't even
recognize VESA modes, just VGA ones (80x24 lines and such). The 800x600
isn't even on the list when doing vga=ask. So still something's
definately wrong.

[Bug 481385] Re: Setting video mode in Grub fails

2009-12-21 Thread MaV
Okay, so I've tested this issue and here are results:

- it doesn't matter which GRUB version (legacy or 2) I'm using, or even which
Ubuntu version (9.04 or 9.10)
- it DOES matter which kernel I use:
  * 2.6.28.x works just fine
  * 2.6.30.x doesn't work (blank screen)
  * 2.6.32.x also doesn't work

So the issue is in kernel itself, there must've been a regression
somewhere between 2.6.28 and 2.6.30 branch. Any ideas?

[Bug 481385] Re: Setting video mode in Grub fails

2009-11-17 Thread MaV
I'm pretty sure that it didn't work under neither GRUB Legacy (0.97) and
GRUB 2. Setting the gfxpayload parameter didn't work on GRUB2, nor
setting vga=... in GRUB Legacy. So the issue might not be related to
grub itself, but to kernel.

Public bug reported:

I have a Fujitsu Siemens B Series laptop (500 MHz CPU, Ati Rage Mobility
gfx card). On 9.04 everything worked fine: I was able to set vga=0x315
to get 800x600x24 mode in console and run an app I have that's written
in SDL. On 9.10 however all I get is a blank screen after adding
vga=0x315 to kernel line. This is true for Grub2 and Grub legacy.

[Bug 230607] [NEW] External keyboard and Mouse attached to the laptop (IBM thinkpad X60)do not function when docked.

2008-05-14 Thread Kalyan MAV
Public bug reported:

Steps:
1. Undock the laptop from the docking station (do not press the undock button,
this would cause a system reboot when docked back.)
2. When docking it back, the external keyboard and mouse attached to the laptop
do not function.

A re-attach of the USB keyboard/mouse also does not help, until the
system restarts.

[Bug 133666] Re: please patch linux-source-2.6.22 to fix ata_piix bug

2007-10-13 Thread Mav
Hi,

I don't know where to post but I've got almost the same problem with a P5W-DH
and a SATA disk drive.
I upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy yesterday and after the upgrade, the system
doesn't boot properly.
I got this kind of message : (initramfs) ata3.01 : failed to set xfermode
(err_mask=0x40) right after grub list

I unpluged my SATA disk NEC and it finally works.

Are you designing this problem so I can patch my kernel ?
(I don't want to patch it if I don't have to)

Thanks

[Bug 68727] Re: Keep crashes when restoring backup

2006-12-13 Thread MaV
I have reinstalled my system, so I didn't have any options on backup
list. So I had to pick a directory with backup created on the old
system. Then I click 'Next' and pick the topmost radio button - 'Use
default directory', and at this moment Keep crashes.

I have Ubuntu Feisty Fawn right now and bug is also here.

[Bug 69227] Suspend resume fails on FS Amilo m7440

2006-10-30 Thread MaV
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi

Everytime I try to suspend and then resume from it, I get blank screen.
It doesn't even turn on. System is probably running, because if I push
power button, it will 'work' for a while and will turn off itself.

I've tried to do several changes to /etc/default/acpi-support but none
of them helped.

[Bug 68727] Keep crashes when restoring backup

2006-10-27 Thread MaV
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: keep

Keep crashes if one chooses Use default directory when restoring a
backup.

To reproduce:

1. Make a backup of some directory (possibly with some content)
2. [optional] rename/remove this directory
3. Use Restore backup
4. Click on the bottom checkbox and browse for a directory [maybe also optional]
5. Try to check top radio - Use default directory
6. Keep crashes in this moment

Using Ubuntu 6.10, fresh after update. Not sure if this happened in
6.06.

[Bug 61827] Wireless on Amilo M7440 doesn't work

2006-09-22 Thread MaV
Public bug reported:

On laptop Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M7440 wireless card doesn't work. It's
because this notebook needs specific kernel module for it to work
(fsam7440). Previous version of this module (fsam7400) is already built
in, but it isn't compatible with this notebook. Link to the module
homepage:

http://fsam7440.sourceforge.net/index2.html

It would be great if this module would come built in in Edgy.
