Re: [Bug 251709] Re: rdesktop works bad with several keyboard layouts

2010-09-09 Thread Manny Vindiola
Robert,

All of the people who have tested it have said that my patch and build
in my ppa has fixed their problem. I also have not heard any reports
of causing any regressions for anyone. Perhaps it would be worth
incorporating that patch into maverick?

experience problems - in this case please try remmina (available in the
software centre) as this uses an updated version of rdesktop that has
 improved keyboard support.

 Status in NULL Project: Invalid
Status in rdesktop package in Ubuntu: Confirmed

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: rdesktop

Many people have many errors while working with rdesktop on a remote host
having two or more keyboard layouts.
For example, russian letter 'Б' sometimes are recognized as if it was pressed
 with Alt.
Sometimes it works fine, sometimes symbols . and , do not work properly.

One man founded a solution (raw keyboard support), it deskribed here:
 http://habrahabr.ru/blog/ubuntu/45595.html

Alt Linux maintainers added patch to rdesktop, it's located here:
 http://sisyphus.ru/srpm/Sisyphus/rdesktop/patches

After patch is applied, it is possible to use option '-y' to use raw
keyboards. After that all problems with two or more keyboard layouts go away.

Please include this patch while building this package.

[Bug 569900] Re: mount: mounting /dev/md0 on /root/ failed: Invalid argument

2010-05-08 Thread Manny Vindiola
I can also confirm for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Server (64 bit)

I tried installing with a raid 1 on two WD Black 500GB hard drives.
I get the no init found error and am dropped to a busybox shell

I have three partitions one for /boot, one for /root, and one for /swap

Like @Thomas I also get this type error

md1: detected capacity change from 0 to 490107502592

and

md1: p2 size 957241344 exceeds device capacity, limited to end of disk

and like @midair77 I also get this type of error
AERT!! /dev/md1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-server root=/dev/md1 ro quiet

I just took a look at my partition table and I think I noticed something that
may be contributing to the problem:

Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

/dev/sda3 59829 60802 7813120 fd Linux raid autodetect

Disk /dev/sdb: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes

/dev/sdb3 59829 60802 7813120 fd Linux raid autodetect

If you notice both HDDs have a total of 60801 cylinders and on both hard drives
the end cylinder of the 3rd partition is 60802 which is greater than the size
of the disk.

Both of these partitions were created with the install partitioner I am
resinstalling now with partitions I create myself with (s)fdisk. I will
let you know if that works.

2009-12-07 Thread Manny Vindiola
Onkar,

Since java-gcj-compat does not depend on java-common in ubuntu anymore
java-alternatives is never set up. I posted a bug to the debian
maintainer about this and another bug where it crashes with a
NullPointerException if you attempt to run it with gcj, even in a sid
chroot. He has released another version of the package that changes
the depends from java-gcj-compat to openjdk-6-jre which takes care of
both problems. Sorry I didn't message you about this when i frist
started working on it. I am new and did not know about you email the
previous uploader requirement at that point.

This package needs to be merged due to a copy of the license missing in

need to do the merge. I haven't spoken to the debian maintainer however.

2009-11-22 Thread Manny Vindiola
Public bug reported:

Please sync bombardier 0.8.3 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The problem has been handled upstream. FTBFS used to be caused from

[Bug 486357] [NEW] Sync httping 1.3.1-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-11-21 Thread Manny Vindiola
Public bug reported:

Please sync httping 1.3.1-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The FTBFS due to problems in str.{c,h} has been fixed in unstable.
I know that we are sync from testing but the bug still exists in the
testing version. I will attach a debdiff between the testing and unstable
versions for your review.

Changelog entries since current lucid version 1.3.0-1ubuntu1:

httping (1.3.1-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Temporary remove strndup from str.{c,h} until upstream removed
it completely (Closes: #552901).
  * Fix FHS compliance of Makefile (Closes: #553094).
  * Override dh_auto_install to remove license.txt and license.OpenSSL
after installation.
- adjust debhelper version dependency to 7.0.50~.

 -- Nico Golde n...@debian.org Wed, 04 Nov 2009 18:12:05 +0100

httping (1.3.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
- Remove fix-fd_leak.patch, remove_memdump_signal-handler.patch
  incorporated upstream.
- The host can be specified directly, there is no need for -g
anymore so httping google.com also works (Closes: #528940).
  - Remove quilt again.
  * Bump policy version to 3.8.3, no changes needed.

 -- Nico Golde n...@debian.org Sun, 16 Aug 2009 14:45:32 +0200

httping (1.3.0-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Bump standards version (no changes needed).
  * Add build-dependency on quilt:
+ Add dh --with quilt call to debian/rules and switch to
  a debhelper 7-ish rules file.
+ Bump debhelper dependency to = 7.0.8 and quilt = 0.46-7.
+ Remove mem_dump functionality via signal as it blocks SIGHUP
which causes httping to continue running even if for example
  an ssh connection was closed
  (remove_memdump_signal-handler.patch; Closes: #531883).
+ Fix file descriptor leak on timeouts
  (fix-fd_leak.patch; Closes: #532172).

[Bug 483819] [NEW] Sync esound 0.2.41-6 (main) from Debian sid (main)

2009-11-16 Thread Manny Vindiola
Public bug reported:

Please sync esound 0.2.41-6 (main) from Debian sid (main)

Changelog entries since current lucid version 0.2.41-5:

esound (0.2.41-6) unstable; urgency=low

  * Remove libesd-alsa0. Only build one package, libesd0. On Linux it
uses ALSA unconditionally, we don’t support OSS anymore.
Closes: #553182.
  * Make esound-common conflict against libesd-alsa0 so that it gets
removed from user systems.
  * Simplify the build process accordingly.

 -- Josselin Mouette j...@debian.org Tue, 03 Nov 2009 20:32:35 +0100

I have checked the reverse dependencies for libesd-alsa0 and all packages that
depend on it list libesd0 as an alternative. Losing the package libesd-alsa0
should not break any packaging dependencies

[Bug 251709] Re: rdesktop works bad with several keyboard layouts

2009-11-16 Thread Manny Vindiola
@Martin Stjernholm and @Brian May and everyone else who is concerned
with the -K switch. I am sorry I was not clear last time. The version I
posted on my ppa has incorporated both the fix to support -y correctly
(in most cases so far) and a seperate fix to make -K behave correctly.

@Michael Lazarev
Thanks for the quick response and the deployment in your organization that will
definitely help wrt testing. As people have mentioned when key-binding is
enabled people generally want to preserve all the key bindings. Making this a
more configurable option where it is possible to specify which key bindings to
preserve and witch to ignore and propagate to the remote client is really a new
feature and not a bug fix. Right now I would like focus specifically on the bug
fix to get rdesktop to behave as it would if the -y switch were not present.
When this is done and we are sure it works I will forward the changes upstream
since clearly the application itself has problems with they way it handles
keyboard input. If you are interested in adding the configurable key bindings
that is something you should coordinate with the upstream developers.

Do you know if TAB not working with a Russian keyboard layout is
introduced by our ubuntu specific changes? I.E. would it be present in
the latest debian version as well which does not have raw keyboard
support? If I understand you correctly you are saying that the russian
layout just doesnt work very well at all without raw keyboard support is
that correct?
