[Bug 750260] Re: Remmina Lacks Integration With Unity Launcher

2011-05-23 Thread Mark McCoy
To expand upon Alexi's comment:

Since the Launcher doesn't group the RDP windows for Remmina with the
main Remmina launcher window, it isn't obvious how to get to those
windows if they are minimized or otherwise hidden by other windows. If
you lose track of the Remmina RDP windows, you can get to them by using
the alt-tab Task Switcher. It's kind of a pain, since the alt-tab Task
Switcher just shows a default window icon for minimized Remmina
windows, so if you have yours grouped into several windows like I do
(dev/test/prod groupings) then it's trial and error until you find the
right one.

I think that 2 things need to be done, the right-click launcher
interaction described above, as well as making sure that the Launcher
and Task Switcher all see the separate RDP windows as Remmina windows so
they can be grouped properly. Window snapshots in the Task Switcher
would be great, too.

2011-04-27 Thread Mark McCoy
I switched to kubuntu about a month ago. I won't be able to upgrade my
production workstation with that card to Natty until a couple of weeks after
it is released, sorry.

 Hey Mark,

Hi, have you had a chance to test if this bug is still present in natty?

If it does (and if you're the original reporter), please boot into natty
 and run the command:

 apport-collect bug-number

which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting
natty. (It is best to run this right after reproducing the problem.)

[Bug 666318] Re: Can't drag window to second monitor until disable/enable in the Display utility

2010-11-01 Thread Mark McCoy
More info. My left monitor is attached to the DVI output, and the right
monitor is attached to the VGA output. I use the following commands
after I login to disable then enable the monitor attached to the VGA
output:

  xrandr --output VGA0 --off
  xrandr --output VGA0 --auto --right-of DVI0

[Bug 666318] [NEW] Can't drag window to second monitor until disable/enable in the Display utility

2010-10-25 Thread Mark McCoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Using the nv driver (nouveau doesn't seem to autodetect my card yet)
with 2 monitors in xrandr. After updating all packages today, I can't
drag windows onto the second monitor until I disable then enable that
display using the System-Administration-Display utility. I can drag
them until about 90% of the window is on that monitor and then the
window stop moving.

Attached are screenshots. The screenshot utility shows that doing a
full screenshot only shows the leftmost display. After doing the
enable/disable routine, the screenshot utility can take a screenshot of
the full virtual desktop.

Re: [Bug 224544] nautilus dav:// protocol [8.04]

2010-01-28 Thread Mark McCoy
I am able to fully access the davs:// protocol with Ubuntu 9.10 x64
(Nautilus 2.28.1). I am connecting to the DAV server that is built into
Xythos 6.1.31.

To test the connection, I double-clicked on 3 different types of
documents:

TEXT: gedit came up, but showed an error icon for the fiel the first time.
Repeated attempts brought up the file, but only if I opened gedit and went
to the file-open dialog. After that I was able to double-click text files
in Nautilus and have them open up in gedit. Right clicking the file and
selecting open with gvim results in Gvim opening an empty file and a [New
DIRECTORY] status in the status bar.

PDF: Again, I tried to double-click a PDF file in Nautilus and Evince opened
with an HTTP 404 error message. I opened the file manually in Evince and it
opened fine, after that I can double-click PDF files in Nautilus and open
them with the expected behavior.

DOC: I was not able to open an Openoffice/Word document at all, whether I
double-clicked the file in Nautilus or opened it via the OO File-Open menu.
The error message was that the file does not exists. I am doubtful that OO
really follows the GVFS specs anyway, based on other experiences with it...

[Bug 105736] Re: mutt - TLS packet with unexpected length

2009-11-20 Thread Mark McCoy
Jeremy,

I can confirm that this bug has been present in python-ldap, ldap-utils,
and gnome-vfs since the 8.04 release of Ubuntu, (ever since GNU-TLS
replaced OpenSSL across the entire distribution), and it is *still
present*. The LDAP tools all worked fine with OpenSSL and have been
broken for me for the last 18 months now.

[Bug 380171] Re: Select your time zone from the map is misleading

2009-07-21 Thread Mark McCoy
The timezone selector has been a papercut for me for a while. Out of
the cities listed on the map, none of the cities listed in my timezone
are within a thousand miles from my location, and I live in one of the
10 largest cities in the US (San Antonio). I usually choose Chicago,
but a novice user wouldn't know which city to choose if there aren't
really any near them, or what time zone cities in Mexico are in
(Monterrey is closer than Chicago), or why some of the cities listed are
on the border of time zones that don't honor daylight savings time.

The region/timezone selector makes sense, the pretty map doesn't

[Bug 224544] Re: nautilus dav:// protocol [8.04]

This looks like it is possibly related to bug #115156
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-vfs2/+bug/115156),
which has to do with compiling gnome-vfs2 against gnutls instead of
openssl.
