why?

[Bug 392545] Re: firefox loads and loads in 9.04

2009-07-09 Thread Martin Kaffanke
I use 9.04. The problem occurs on 3.0 and 3.5 of firefox. And it's the
same with safe-mode. So I think it doesn't really come from the
browser. It is the same with epiphany (but isn't it the same engine?)

If the problem doesn't come from the browser, i can only find it there.
But also the evoution imap problem (cannot connect - time out) is only
in evolution, connecting via telnet imapserver 143 works fine.

Any Ideas where to look for?

[Bug 392545] Re: firefox loads and loads in 9.04

2009-07-08 Thread Martin Kaffanke
Maybe it's not firefox but a gnome bug? I can make the following
addition:

evolution has troulbes to connect to a imap mailbox, but from a terminal
a telnet to the imap box works. The specific sites - i'm not able to
analyse them - like imap could use specific ports which are getting
stopped somewhere within gnome. the bash itself and a virtualbox
instance can go to this ports, but gnome apps (evolution, firefox) not.

How good is my suggestion? and how can I prove that?

Thanks,
Martin

[Bug 392545] [NEW] firefox loads and loads in 9.04

2009-06-26 Thread Martin Kaffanke
Public bug reported:

After upgrade to 9.04 i had a problem on several websites like
geocaching.com or launchpad.net or netbanking.at or gmx.at or my own
websites administration page (joomla).

So I tried to install 9.04 new and the problem is still there.
At first I thought it is a networking problem but the other computer in the
network (a windows vista with firefox) doesn't have the problem, and also not
the windows inside VirtualBox on my ubuntu 9.04 computer.

Debugging is not so easy for me. The thing is that on some pages
firefox seems to hang in any 'loading page' loop or something, the
messages (bottom left) of the window says loading page and it seems the
page is partically loaded but cannot be loaded finished, for some
reason. Other Websites work, like visiting a reported bug on
launchpad.net works fine, but reporting a bug doesn't work (so i use
lynx at the moment).

Please tell me where I can go and what I can do. The problem was
allready there after a new install of ubuntu 9.04 from the cd (after
updates - didn't try before) installation of sun java plugin and adobe
flash plugin didn't make any changes.

Thanks for your help, which is very important here.

Ok, try the following:

cd /var/lib
sudo mv apt apt.old
sudo mkdir -p apt/lists/partial

sudo apt-get update

now it should work.

If or if not, please tell me your results.

Thanks,
Martin

I have the same thing here, I noticed that yesterday, but with a
different sources.list

Is this really a bug or is there any trouble on my installation?

[Bug 116220] Re: seems apt causes crash ( feisty )

2007-06-05 Thread Martin Kaffanke
Additional I'd like to tell you that in the stage where apt is reading
the paket list it stays on '50%' or '49%', and the system isn't usable,
it does only react very slowly and the applications are not usable at
this point.

When it has aborted it works again.

But gkrellm seems to work and does neither show cpu 100% or ram 100%,
its all in the normal stage, ram is just a bit higher (about 50 MB I
guess)

And yes, apt is not usable anymore, so this is really a major but for
me, and importance should be high.
