[Bug 1273897] [NEW] please integrate r561 from googlecl

2014-01-28 Thread Martin Stolle
Public bug reported:

While googlecl hasn't seen a new release in a while, it has some
additional bugfixes in svn. It would be nice to integrate at least
r561:

http://code.google.com/p/googlecl/source/detail?spec=svn561&r=561

with tiny diff

http://code.google.com/p/googlecl/source/diff?spec=svn561&r=561&format=side&path=/trunk/src/googlecl/picasa/service.py

into the Ubuntu/Debian package.

This fixes a bug that prevents uploading multiple images to
Picasa/Google+ from working correctly.

This seems like a security hole - couldn't a malicious provider inject
bad packages through manipulation of the returned package list?

[Bug 421261] Re: xterm background colour used to be black, now white

2010-05-18 Thread Martin Stolle
Hi, is anyone working on this? It's really annoying 8-).

I ran uxterm under strace and it appears to only look for UXTerm and
_NOT_ UXTerm-color resources. Since x11-common is responsible for
making it use -color, I looked for uxterm opening that file in the
strace, but it appears to ignore that file. If I manually xrdb
-override that file, it works as expected.

In conclusion, the root bug seems to be that uxterm does not (or no
longer) consults /etc/X11/Xresources/x11-common Could this be a
regression in Xt? Can this be fixed, maybe? Or is this an unintended
side-effect of http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=570447 ?

Thanks,
  Martin

[Bug 168360] Re: Connectors between groups act weird

2009-04-17 Thread Martin Stolle
I must have been unclear. Not the transformation of the objects is a
problem, but the transformation of ANY of the parent (enclosing)
objects. This includes any group the objects are in and presumable a
transformation of the whole document as you describe as well.

To undo the problem you are seeing (which cannot be solved by
grouping/ungrouping), try using the XML editor and removing any
transform-attributes on the layer/root nodes.

[Bug 168360] Re: Connectors between groups act weird

2009-04-17 Thread Martin Stolle
So apparently transforms of parent objects are not taken into account.
So if you put two objects inside a group and then move or scale the
group, the connectors inside get wacko (if they need to be recomputed).

By ungrouping and regrouping the items, the parent transform gets reset
(ungrouping applied the group's transform to the individual objects and
the re-grouped group has again an identity transform).

Unfortunately, I am not an inkscape hacker, but hopefully this should
give precise enough information to have this long-standing bug fixed?

[Bug 223199] [NEW] fglrx does not load

2008-04-27 Thread Martin Stolle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules

After rebooting my system, X, configured to use fglrx, is very slow.

After some debugging, it looks like the fglrx kernel module was not
loaded. Trying to manually modprobe is results in:

"Could not open '/lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/volatile/fglrx.ko"

In order to try to troubleshoot this, I ran "sudo depmod" and tried
modprobe again (with -v):

"install /sbin/lrm-video fglrx"
"FATAL: Error running install command for fglrx"

looking at /sbin/lrm-video, it just runs modprobe --ignore-install, so
tried that myself:

"FATAL: Module fglrx not found"

Weird... so I try reinstalling the package (apt-get remove --purge,
apt-get install)

AHA! now "modprobe fglrx" works. Let's see what happens after a
restart...

Again... no fglrx loaded. Trying to modprobe it:

"FATAL: Could not open
'/lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/volatile/fglrx.ko': No such file or
directory"

What's going on? It looks like there's a bug in linux-restricted-
modules that makes the fglrx driver disappear after a reboot. Looking
further into it, /lib/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.24-16-generic/
contains a bunch of modules, but only a few of them show up in
/lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/volatile'. After a fresh package
reinstall all of them are there but after a reboot, only some of them
are. How come?

Thanks,
  Martin

[Bug 223199] Re: fglrx does not load

2008-04-27 Thread Martin Stolle
Ok, now I feel slightly stupid. Turns out, before hardy heron, I had to
use the ATI supplied driver, since the Ubuntu fglrx driver was too old
for my gfx card. So I had disabled the fglrx driver in /etc/default
/linux-restricted-modules

So there is still a (somewhat lesser) bug in that a new install of the
linux-restricted-modules package will enable the fglrx (or presumably
any) driver, even if it is blacklisted in the config file.

I think the package should check upon install the blacklist settings and
not make modules available that will magically disappear after a reboot.
Instead, it should print out a message: "disabling module XXX" and not
set it up with the kernel. That would make debugging a whole lot easier
and it would make the behavior more consistent (ie. no more disappearing
modules after a reboot).

Thanks,
  Martin

[Bug 152720] doesn't integrate with update-java-alternatives, bad "java"-alternatives priority

2007-10-14 Thread Martin Stolle
Public bug reported:

I jave both sun-java6-bin installed as well as j2se1.4. Why? Because I
need Java 6 for developmnent work, but I also want a java plugin on
amd64, which I am hoping that blackdown is providing. As it turns out,
j2se1.4 is not integrated with update-java-alternatives, so I can't use
that to switch the default. Even worse, it's using update-alternatives
with an astronomically high priority (1411 vs 62 etc...), so that it
takes precedence over java6.

[Bug 150066] no group created for new user

2007-10-06 Thread Martin Stolle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

Hello,

I added a new user (Desktop-user). This user did not get a new group,
nor was it added to the "users" group. Instead, it was added to an
existing user's group. To be more concrete: The primary user, created
when first installing the system, was "mstoll" who also had hos own
group "mstoll" (uid: 1000, gid: 1000). When I later added another user
"shaile", no new group was created. Instead, shaile was added to group
"mstoll" (gid 1000). uid is 1001 as expected. This might be related to
bug #83373 and bug #71394. If not careful, this allows new users to
access potentially private files from a previous user!

[Bug 150054] ati restricted suggested for radeon 2600 - does not work (X crashes - vesa at least worked)

2007-10-06 Thread Martin Stolle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: restricted-manager-core

I have a Dell Optiplex 755. I added a Radone 2600 XT 512 MB (MSI board)
afterwards. After installing gutsy gibbon, it was suggested (by
restricted-manager-core?) that I install the restricted drivers to get
full 3d capability (before, I guess, it was just using VESA with
1024x768 res). After I did that, X wouldn't start any more. Turns out,
only the most recent 8.41 driver (not in Ubuntu - yet?) supports the
2x00 series. Hence, maybe the restricted-manager should not suggest
using the ATI drivers for the 2x00 series card?

Re: [Bug 37237] Re: doesn't work with kino 8.0

2006-10-24 Thread Martin Stolle
I don't have much time right now to look into this, but the version in
dapper is

0.3.5-1.1build1

On debian unstable, with kino 0.92-1 and kinoplus 0.3.5-3, it seems to
work (although there are a bunch of gnome-related assertion that fail,
the package does load and shows up in the gui).
