[Bug 1053369] Re: Crash on login
Sorry to spam the comments section: I "solved" it by changing the theme. I had the Faenza-Ambiance iconset activated which is missing some icons (esp. for the indicator-messages and indicator-power). No icons, no display. :-) Just change your theme (in appearance) to something other than you want to use and then back to your favorite theme. [Bug 923027] [NEW] cmus recommends dnet-common and libdnet
Public bug reported: I'm sorry if this is completely in the wrong place because it is not really a bug but more an annoyance: cmus recommends libroar1, which in turn depends on dnet-common and libdnet. If you just apt-get install cmus you end up with a more or less configured DECnet on your machine. This has some side effects, most notably the changing of the MAC-address of your Ethernet interfaces, which really is not what you want, I guess. Apart from that I quickly ran into problems as I undocked my laptop (ThinkPad T61) from the docking station with an integrated Ethernet port. I don't know if DECnet was responsible for that or if it just was a funny quirk but my machine locked up completely. After rebooting I discovered that cmus wouldn't launch (just a blinking cursor forever). strace told me that cmus hung while waiting for connect() on an AF_DECnet socket. After that I wasn't even able to start /etc/init.d/decnet without errors, which I was able to trace down to the /sbin/setether script. The script uses /sbin/ip to change the MAC-address, which failed with "RTNETLINK: No such device" on eth0 (the MAC address was already changed to AA:00:00:??:??:??). After that I stopped looking into the problem and purged cmus and all dependencies. After a reboot DECnet was gone. Long story short: Installing cmus and cmus-plugin-ffmpeg with --no- install-recommends did the trick, WITHOUT installing libroar1 and its dependencies and funny side effects. So I think the recommends for cmus should be changed to not include libroar1. [Bug 726033] Re: does not display icons until hovered
With the current patch level, the icons are rendered correctly (well, mostly. I have slight artifacts; nothing too serious). But I DO NOT see the search bar upon entering a term. It just disappears (but performs the search and correctly displays the results). I -for one- cannot test the fglrx drivers (as far as I know) because my graphics card (Mobility Radeon X1400) is just "too old". The newest fglrx won't support it and an older fglrx version does not support the natty/maverick Xorg. This might also be the case for many other people affected by this bug. So, asking them to test with fglrx might just not be feasible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/726033 Title: does not display icons until hovered -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 747221] [NEW] Unity Dash is empty Icons pop up on mouse over
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity 1. Upon clicking the the ubuntu logo (top left) I only get an empty Dash. It's transparent and black (empty). When I hover about the places where the icons should be, they appear. This only works for the first row of icons, the second row stays empty I only see the selection rectangle. 2. When I type blindly, e.g. "Term" I get the results correctly displayed as the should be. 3. When I try to resize the dash (It's resizable, right?) by clicking the lower right edge and then dragging it I can only maximize the dash. 4. Maximizing the dash displays it correctly. This bug is hard for me to explain with words, I'll attach some screenshots and if that doesn't suffice I'll make a video of it. Sorry guys if this is a duplicate of an existing bug which I couldn't find, as I didn't know what to google or search launchpad for. After doing some further investigation, looking into the radeon-driver source etc I found out that this most likely has something to do with PLL. After searching for "pll quirk" (which is what the x1400 needs, imho) I found similiar bugs which I haven't discovered before: 1. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/509273 2. http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com/msg2240533.html So, in a way: Sorry for the duplicate... -- heavy display corruptions with KMS and x1400 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
