[Bug 1420600] [NEW] Vivid liveusb cursor disappears while desktop loads and reappears minutes later (hp mini netbook)
Public bug reported: HP mini 110 netbook, 2gb ram. The daily live for feb 9 and 10 have shown this behaviour. Md5sum verified. When running the liveusb the cursor disappears around when the panel loads and reappears something like 8 minutes later. The install/try window loads about a minute in to the desktop loading. The install/try window can be navigated with the keyboard while the cursor is absent. The boot process follows this approximate timeline: * The desktop loads and the cursor is visible for a few seconds * The cursor goes away and the panel gradually loads * 40-50 seconds later, the try/install window appears * Approximately 8 minutes later (yes, i timed this), the cursor will appear when the mousepad is touched. If the mousepad is not touched, the cursor will not appear on its own. [Bug 997891] Re: sometimes cannot build pdfs for de, sl, pt, es, nl, pl, or it locales
** Description changed: Newer versions of docutils (>=0.8) report full language name rather than shortcodes and hence breaking pdf compilation in de, sl, pt, es, nl, pl and it locales as the \shorthandoff directive is not added and triggering latex is generated. I submitted this patch upstream last night and it was accepted. https://bitbucket.org/birkenfeld/sphinx/pull-request/64/added-language- names-to-the-shorthandoff SRU Info: [Impact] - On systems where python-docutils is version 0.8 or above, this bug prevents pdf generation from sphinx generated latex source for the de, sl, pt, es, nl, pl and it locales. I expect that my upstream patch will be released with the next version of python-sphinx. [Development Fix] - A debdiff for quantal has been attached. It is functionally identical to the precise-proposed debdiff as the sphinx versions are still identical. [Stable Fix] - A debdiff for precise-proposed has been attached. It adds full language names to the pool of shortcodes which the tex file writer uses to evaluate the necessity of the \shorthandoff directive. - [Test Case] - I encountered this issue while trying to build the Mahara - manual ( git://gitorious.org/mahara/manual.git ) on precise. + [Test Case] - Note: The debian maintainer offers a better minimal test + here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=672586#31 + + I encountered this issue while trying to build the Mahara manual ( + git://gitorious.org/mahara/manual.git ) on precise. * Install git-core and python-sphinx along with its recommends. * git clone git://gitorious.org/mahara/manual.git * cd manual * mkdir source/locales/es/LC_MESSAGES/ * from https://translations.launchpad.net/mahara-manual/1.5/+export get the MO version of the translation files. [Bug 962852] [NEW] icons stuck at top of unity dash
Public bug reported: Unity version: 4.28.0-0ubuntu2 on 11.10 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) This has happened sporadically since before upgrading to 11.10, and seems to happen after a period of idle, though I seem to recollect it happening with minimal idle time previously. I have no idea how to reproduce it, other than wait for it to appear. The screenshot attached is probably the best way to see what's happened. * All the icons are stuck at the top of the dash, layered upon each other, and translucent. see screenshot * The clickable area for the bottom few are still available beneath the pile of icons, as seen in the screenshot, though the tooltip bubble is out of alignment. see screenshot * alt-tab still works as intended * meta/windows key still brings up the menu as intended The only way to get out of this without losing unity settings seem to be to restart the computer. If I'm wrong about this, I'd welcome being corrected. [Bug 801043] [NEW] locations autocomplete in date/time dialog is not intuitive for common locations
Public bug reported: In the Date dialog > time and date settings > clock > locations dialog, when trying to add non-obscure locations such as "san francisco" (only US city showing for 'san' is 'san antonio' in texas), "sydney" (shows up as 'syd' so typing 'sydn' gets nothing) and "london" (nothing in the UK appears) in the autocomplete filter, these locations either don't show, or show under wrong titles. Alternately, searching for "usa" gets locations in africa and russia, "united" gets no results, and "calif" gets no results, so there appears to be no attempt to match against the smaller text appearing alongside the location title either. This is on a freshly upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 system. I dearly missed having this feature in 10.10, and call me hard to please, but I'd like to have it actually usable if it's there now. [Bug 184281] cpu usage at 100% when firefox tabs equal width of window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox When the number of tabs open is the maximum the window width can accomodate, it brings up scrolling arrows so you can open more. This is typical behaviour. However, when these arrows are up, yet there are no extra tabs to scroll through to (ie, you click the arrow and it moves just a few pixels), firefox starts to use 100% CPU. The cpu drain goes when you close a tab, or open a new one. To reproduce: - Open firefox - Note cpu usage is low/normal - Open just enough tabs to bring up the scroll arrows - Note CPU usage is now 100% or near to it - Close any one of the tabs or open a new one, and cpu usage goes back to normal This can be reproduced with both full-screen and otherwise, but it's easier to reproduce with full-screen as there's less calculation needed to get the width/tabs right. Additionally, when I submit articles to ostg, it needs to be html-ified, and I actually write my articles in a note. I find tomboy is much much quicker for these purposes than a text editor. While it's useful to click links to check they're correct, clicking the links don't always happen intentionally, and often I end up with a browser full of a dozen or more tabs of invalid urls. [Bug 90103] Tomboy link-clicking opens malformed URLs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tomboy URLs in html tags in Tomboy do not linkify correctly, and when clicked, send the user to a malformed URL. Step 1: Create a note Step 2: Add a URL to the note, eg, http://link.com";>link Step 3: Note the portion of the above string that is 'linkified', or blue with underline. Step 4: Click on the URL in the note. Step 5: Note the URL that the web browser has been directed to. [Bug 90102] Tomboy note closes when middle-clicking on a hyperlink
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tomboy When using middle-click to attempt to paste into a hyperlink, Tomboy closes the note. It appears to be doing so to open the hyperlink in its place. When the hyperlink is a tomboy note-link, it closes the clicked note and opens the linked note. When the hyperlink is a URL, the tomboy note closes, and a URL is attempted in the default web browser Reasoning: The above described behaviour is an annoyance to those who have become accustomed to using middle-click for highlight-buffer pasting in a text-editor scenario. Additionally, IMHO there is no need to close the note in this process. To replicate: 1. Create a note in Tomboy. 2. Enter a note-link or URL. 3. Use the middle button on a mouse (or I presume equivalent action), to click on the URL. Occurs in both 0.4.1 (edgy) and 0.6.0 (feisty) ** Affects: tomboy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Tomboy note closes when middle-clicking on a hyperlink https://launchpad.net/bugs/90102 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
