[Bug 781031] Re: Me tv has video but no sound
I guess that can make a 1.3.7 that uses libvlc due to the number of users with this issue. For this, I would need to some testers that can build from a source tarball. [Bug 781031] Re: Me tv has video but no sound
Nearly out of ideas. Can you please record a program and try to play it back in xine-ui (xine)? If it works then I'm really out of ideas because that is what the Me TV player is using, in this case can you make that recorded file available for me to download. If it does not work then try a different player, vlc or mplayer to see if that works. Really just trying to isolate where the problem is. The way I see it, it could be: 1. In the audio stream detector (Checked, because you have menu items) 2. In the stream that that Me TV produces. 3. In the xine-lib engine or the way Me TV has implemented the player. 4. In the xine configuration 5. Hardware (You have sound so that's not the issue) One final thing, can you please check that you have installed libxine1 -all-codecs? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781031 Title: Me tv has video but no sound -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 781031] Re: Me tv has video but no sound
Hi Owen, Me TV has streams and shows 0: eng (MPEG 4). Good news. drop down list. I did not restart Me-Tv each time I made a selection, however, I hope this was that okay? You do need to change channels i.e. restart the player to get the new settings applied. actually stop Me TV running, what's the best way to do this without re-booting? File->Quit or `killall me-tv` from the command line. # Audio mixer control method # { Sound card Software }, default: 0 #gui.audio_mixer_method:Sound card Haha :) Yes, that's not real helpful but I think that you just need to say "gui.audio_mixer_method:Software" from memory. The later versions of Me TV use libvlc as the default player so it's been some time since I've done this. [Bug 781031] Re: Me tv has video but no sound
This bug is generally caused by one of 2 issues: * Me TV not recognising your audio stream on a particular channel * libxine not working with your audio hardware by default By getting you to install xine-ui I was hoping that it would point out an issue with the default libxine configuration. If your audio menu in Me TV has streams then it's not the first issue. Can you please confirm? If it's the second issue, try changing the "audio driver" setting in the preferences dialog. Failing that `cp ~/.xine/config ~/.me- tv/xine.config` then try again, failing that open up ~/.me- tv/xine.config and change the audio mixer device to from Hardware to Software.

Wow, a comprehensive guide, I would like to see that. My email address is plastered all over LP and is in the Me TV about dialog, but here it is again, michael.lamo...@gmail.com. If you are being booted out to the login page then this not a Me TV issue, I can almost guarantee that your X server is crashing. I don't know how you get any support with Mint here, you'll need to raise it with them to see if they are fixing the issue or sending it upstream. One last thing to try is to use the "-s" option on the command line which starts Me TV in a kind of "safe mode" which will show the preferences dialog without trying to tune to a channel first. From there you'll want to select a difference video driver, xshm is usually a good one. [Bug 528849] Re: gnome-dvb-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in dvb_scanner_Destroy()
I tried 0.1.15 and the same crash did not happen. However, gnome-dvb- daemon crashed so gnome-dvb-setup could not exit and I got this error every time I tried to close the window or click the "Close" button, "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name :1.142 was not provided by any .service files". Had to kill gnome-dvb-setup and restart gnome-dvb-daemon but this time it looked like it had channels. For some reason apport did not fire. [Bug 428884] Re: gnome-screensaver --poke functionality does no longer inhibit screen blanking
Hi Matthias, which issue? The `gnome-screensaver-command --poke` fail or the screensaver problem mentioned in the 2 posts previous? Me TV calls `gnome-screensaver-command --poke` [0] so if it is broken then Me TV will surely fail. Fortunately, the command is configurable and stored in GConf at /apps/me-tv/screensaver_poke_command. I would hope that there's a command line application out there that is able to actually inhibit the screensaver in karmic (maybe using dbus) and if so you should be able to simply update the value in GConf. A quick Googling gave me this results [1], but I haven't tested it yet. [Bug 434994] Re: changing the channels is very slow
> Wouldn't reducing the timeout just be a workaround instead of a solution? That depends on the "solution" that Me TV is trying to solve. But your point is valid. > Would it be possible to load the channel first, and then load the EPG data? You misunderstood my statements earlier, the issue is not on "channel load", it's on "channel unload". I assume that the first channels starts up quickly right? It's when you exit the channel that it takes 10 seconds while it waits for the EPG read from the demuxer to timeout. I'm not sure if there's a way to know if there's EPG data available but there's only one quick solution that I can see. Reduce the timeout period to 2 seconds (currently 10) and terminate the thread if the demuxers don't return data. My concern is when the broadcasters stop transmitting temporarily (for whatever reason maintenance, fault, loading new EPG data) and then start again. In this scenario the EPG events will not be read again until you change channel. I guess I could make it automatically start the EPG thread every minute if it's not running, this is what other applications do. ** Changed in: me-tv Status: Invalid => Confirmed ** Changed in: me-tv Importance: Undecided => Low -- changing the channels is very slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434994 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
