[Bug 1879070] Re: caja uses 100% CPU on login

2021-01-09 Thread Morpheus
I have the same problem on Ubuntu proper. Nautilus is unusable using
100% CPU usage.

I have removed the links for Documents, Downloads, Pictures etc in my
home folder, and restored those folders back to being normal folders
(not links to elsewhere). I have made links to the actual Documents,
Pictures etc folders inside the normal home folders.

This stops caja (in mate) and nautilus (in Ubuntu) from consuming 100%
CPU usage.

Re: [Bug 1904460] Re: Gnome disks icon is missing when upgraded from 18.04 to 20.04

2020-12-14 Thread Morpheus
I have restored my clonezilla backup of 18.04 as I also have an issue
with deja-dup not working after the upgrade (reported as a separate
bug). I needed to get back to work urgently and didn't have time to try
your suggestion.

As a side, I see that icons are missing for certain locales, could this
be related?

Re: [Bug 1689307] Re: Desktop icons and Caja windopw and icons did not update

2017-06-27 Thread Morpheus
Hi.

Thought this might help.

Left the PC on last night, as I do most nights, logged off the desktop.
Logged in this morning and the issue was happening. On this occasion, a log
out and log in cured.

Screenshot-1 shows the icons at first login. Screenshot-2 shows the icons
after log out / re-log in.

I have also attached a small screen recording showing me navigate the tweak
tool and appearance settings to no avail.

Hope it is of some use.

Many thanks.

Re: [Bug 1694930] Re: Fonts become invisible in libreoffice after font change

2017-06-15 Thread Morpheus
Must admit, didn't realise there had been an update. This started
happening about a month or two back, so quite possibly is due to the update.

Bit reluctant to downgrade as I am in a production environment, however
I will set something up in a VM and try the older version and get back
to you.

Cheers.

Re: [Bug 1689307] Re: Desktop icons and Caja windopw and icons did not update

2017-06-15 Thread Morpheus
I navigate to control centre - appearance - theme tab - customize button
- icons tab.

I click on different icon sets, and watch the icons on screen change.

Often (but not always) it happens that desktop icons, menu icons and
file manager icons would suddenly become stuck on the default icon set
(Adwaita ?), regardless how many times I continue to select different
icon sets.

The fix is to use the mate tweak tool to change the panel layout (to
anything) then switch it back again.

One thing I didn't mention is that I have saved my panel layout using
the mate tweak tool, perhaps that is relevant ? I simply have one panel
at the bottom, with menu, window list, notification bar and clock.

Cheers.

[Bug 1694930] [NEW] Fonts become invisible in libreoffice after font change

2017-06-01 Thread Morpheus
Public bug reported:

I select a block of text, change the font name or the font size. The
font drop down then greys out and I can no longer manipulate fonts.

I click save, the save dialog is empty, has no text in it, but pressing
enter does save the document. I close libreoffice writer and re-open.
The font has changed correctly and I continue to work.

This happens everytime, it is not a one off.

[Bug 1689307] [NEW] Desktop icons and Caja windopw and icons did not update

2017-05-08 Thread Morpheus
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Mate 16.04. While changing the appearance of my system, which I
have done many times, I suddenly had an issue in that dekstop icons,
context menu icons and file manager icons were always the default
(Adwaita ?) icons, regardless of the theme I selected or the icons I
selected if in custom mode. All other icons (menu bar, mate-menu etc)
changed as per the selected theme.

then reselect layouts and themes to my hearts content and the icons
changed accordingly.

On Ubuntu 9.04, it works using this method:

tar -xf file.tar --wildcards "*a"

However, according to man page of tar, --wildcards are enabled by
default:

It also doesn't works with -X, you must type --exclude "*b"

2009-02-26 Thread Prof. Dr. Morpheus
Just wanted to tell all people who use DELL e6400 that internal mic is

Open mixer, configure, activate Recording, Digital Mic 1, Input Source

volume of the mic via Recording, not Digital Mic 1.

Also have similar problems with a DELL E6400, the output of the script is

You can only hear something at the highest level and one or two below.

[Bug 245661] Re: cannot call ./crclient

2008-11-19 Thread MOrpheus
found out what the issue, crclient (binary) uses 32 bit libraries,
thats why it gave file not found error, cause it could not locate the shared
object (.so) file.

Drapper drake x64 comes with the 32 bit libraries, by default.

While Hardy Heron x64 does not come with 32 bit libraries, so I cannot execute
a 32 bit executable (./crclient) unless I install 32 bit libraries. However, I
need the internet connection to download the ia32 libs.
Since crclient itself is responsible for me connect to internet. I was stuck

I have installed 32 bit version of 8.0.5 right now, eventhough I have a
love of x64 systems, their issues and definitely their speed.

x64 will be the future and 32bit will be a history, until then Ubuntu is
fine.

Wish some one could get an alternate CD for x64 with ia32 libs on the same CD.
and do make some improvements to the alternate CD installation :)

I will try that with jigdo.

This issue is not a bug

I've just copied a non empty folder on the same root folder (the folder
/home/user/bug/ on /home/user/.), and it crashed.

[Bug 132741] Re: Tracker should not be enabled by default until it doesn't clobber everything

2007-10-29 Thread Morpheus
Hi,

I have a similar problem.

First, I'm new to Ubuntu and I have no technical knowledge whatsoever.

I upgraded to Gutsy from Feisty as soon as it was released and
everything was fine but yesterday I got a message at startup that " the
disk volume at / is 100% full" . After some research I realized all the
14G of my home directory was full, mainly taken by tracker (10.5G) in
the folder cache.

I have no idea when tracker was installed and whether it was enabled in
Gutsy release or was installed with updates.

Apart from taking all the space on my drive, it slows down the system and my
CPU usage goes to 50 to 60 % ( normally it's between 1 and 5%)

System Configuration:

Dual boot ( Windows XP and Gutsy)
CPU Core Duo 2140 ,1.6 GHz
RAM: 2 G
Hard Disk Size: 160 G
Available disk space: 0 bytes

I tried unmounting my NTFS drives with no effect.

Thanks
