[Bug 1569970] Re: Nautilus does not start

2017-04-03 Thread Narcissus
Still happening randomly on an up-to-date Ubuntu 16.04.

Now killing the nautilus process solves the issue temporarily, but it
takes some time for nautilus to start again even after killing the
process.

[Bug 1569970] Re: Nautilus does not start

2016-11-11 Thread Narcissus
I am experiencing the same issue on an up-to-date Ubuntu 16.04 install.

It seems to happen randomly. Nautilus doesn't launch and gives the error
previously reported if launched via command line. A restart fixes it
temporarily.

[Bug 1068626] Re: System Overheats and Shuts Down during Install

I am extremely sorry about that, but I did some forensics because this
issue seemed strange, and I discovered that the GPU fan on my laptop
wasn't functioning at all. It's an hardware issue, so I apologize and I
am marking this bug as Invalid.

[Bug 1068626] Re: System Overheats and Shuts Down during Install

2012-10-19 Thread Narcissus
@Joseph Salisbury

As requested, I installed and tested the upstream kernel 3.7 from the
link you provided, and I was unable to boot it. It was stuck on either
"loading initial ramdisk" or some message regarding modprobe. I am thus
marking this bug as confirmed with the tag 'kernel-unable-to-test-
upstream'. Hope I did this the right way.

You're welcome.

@Joseph Salisbury

Yes, the issue persits when booting into the Quantal fresh install. I
managed to install by manually cooling the laptop, but it was hard. The
only way to solve this that I know of is to install Bumblebee and
nvidia-current.

[Bug 1068626] [NEW] System Overheats and Shuts Down during Install

2012-10-19 Thread Narcissus
Public bug reported:

As requested, I'm joining a brief screencast of the window itself
getting larger and larger. The capture shows the window after right-
clicking on a contact and selecting "Previous Conversations". I just
took time to put in to the left to hide the addresses. It's worth noting
that this continues forever if I'm not closing it. I am running a fully
updated Natty.

I experienced this too a month ago. I still don't know to which package it's

but I can't be sure.
Please report any improvements or workarounds you found.

[Bug 472057] Re: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 (r8169): transmit queue 0 timed out

2009-11-14 Thread Narcissus
I'm having this problem too. I had a very hard time figuring what caused
me disconnections when traffic was high (Bittorrent for example), I
changed my router but the problem still appeared. When I was pretty sure
it was a Ubuntu/Linux Kernel issue only, I found the same error in
syslog when I was disconnected. I joined it as an attachment but I was
never notified that something was going wrong. No KernelOops. It seems
to be a problem with the r8169 module when large packets are received or
under heavy traffic.

[Bug 478901] Re: Random crashes in Ubuntu 9.10 - may be wireless mouse & kb related.

2009-11-09 Thread Narcissus
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
