[Bug 1795919] Re: fs quota calculation is wrong

2019-02-25 Thread Nick Maynard
Thank you - we have just upgraded our mail system from xenial to bionic,
and unexpectedly hit this.

It seems it *might* have other side effects, like breaking indexing
(checks quota before writing files) and potentially writing to Sent and
Drafts (also, checking quota).

High priority for us - a backport to bionic would be highly appreciated.

[Bug 1655842] Re: "Out of memory" errors after upgrade to 4.4.0-59

2017-02-09 Thread Nick Maynard
LTS Ubuntu with -updates shouldn't have this sort of issue - this is,
frankly, unforgivable.

We need a new kernel urgently in -updates, and I'd expect serious
discussions within the kernel team to understand what has caused this
issue and avoid it reoccurring.

[Bug 1450839] [NEW] ENABLE_DAEMON=0 doesn't work

2015-05-01 Thread Nick Maynard
Public bug reported:

The init script defines start_daemon.

So does /lib/lsb/init-functions, included before the script's version.

Consequently the new definition is unused, so ENABLE_DAEMON=0 has no
effect.

[Bug 1284093] Re: Please update regulations to support VHT

2015-01-11 Thread Nick Maynard
Come on now - surely this is embarassing?

The regdb on Ubuntu is now almost *2 years* out of date.

As of now, the latest stable version is 2014-10-07.

For all those suffering from this (and VHT issues, etc.), I've found the
Debian testing package to apply cleanly and enable VHT successfully -

[Bug 1068884] Re: ddclient can't be used in quantal: needs missing libdigest-sha1-perl

[Bug 757435] Re: keyboard input lost, when window focus lost in unity

2011-12-16 Thread Nick Maynard
I also get this problem - randomly (and quite frequently when using
keyboard shortcuts to switch around apps & workspaces) the keyboard
focus is lost.

A quick double Alt-Tab usually fixes the problem, but the frustration
factor is very high.

A key culprit appears to be Eclipse - it very frequently does not gain
keyboard focus when switched to. I would suggest that diagnostic
attempts begin there.

If there's any tracing I can enable to help recreate this, please let me
know.

[Bug 878606] [NEW] ~/.config/dconf/user file is rewritten every minute

2011-10-19 Thread Nick Maynard
Public bug reported:

My shiny new laptop has a brand new Oneiric install, root FS is ext4.

It appears that for some reason .config/dconf/user is being rewritten
with /exactly/ the same information every minute or so. Unfortunately
it appears this pointless rewrite causes an immediate spin-up of the
drive for a sync. Which is not ideal, as it (a) hurts battery life and
(b) potentially hurts the HD over time.

Happy to debug, just tell me what logs to enable!

[Bug 567113] Re: 3.5.2-2ubuntu3 version breaks p2 update, plugins

2010-04-22 Thread Nick Maynard
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 566131 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566131

Not sure of the duplicate status - that bug mentions that Eclipse still
works regardless of the error. Whereas the submitters here seem to have
a non-functioning Eclipse.

Does anyone know if the previous version, 3.5.2_2ubuntu2, still works?
If it does, the problem isn't environmental and I wonder if backing out
3.5.2_2ubuntu3 might be the quickest fix before LTS release. I can't
seem to get hold of 3.5.2_2ubuntu2 any more.

Personally I now have a version of 3.5.2 downloaded from eclipse.org and
running - have given up on the Ubuntu package until ths bug is fixed.

[Bug 255829] Re: 0.7 Network-Manager requests DHCP configuration twice, gets confused and aborts the connection

2009-03-10 Thread Nick Maynard
Better wording... why not accept a lease whereever it arrives from?
What seems to be happening is that NM *ignores* the provided lease
because it's mistakenly waiting for a lease from a different PID.
Things then time out.

Easy workaround: just accept the lease.

Fix: track them PIDs correctly.

[Bug 255829] Re: 0.7 Network-Manager requests DHCP configuration twice, gets confused and aborts the connection

2009-03-10 Thread Nick Maynard
I still get this bizarre behaviour, though with a slight variation.

I get a connection OK, but about a minute or so later, the interface
gets another lease from a dhclient that NM started, but nevertheless
doesn't regard as a belonging to it (unrecognised PID). NM then *stops*
the interface.

Really, this is just paranoid. Never mind the fact that NM's starting
up multiple dhclient processes - why on earth should NM kill the
connection dead when a new lease arrives/is refreshed?

[Bug 146859] Re: No dri for virtual screen greater than 2048x2048

2008-10-15 Thread Nick Maynard
Alexander, my i965 box (running pre-release Intrepid) doesn't appear to
have these patches, else I'd hope it would work!

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82Q963/Q965 Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ glxinfo -l | grep GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE
GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE = 2048
