[Bug 561343] Re: No keyboard and touchpad with Lucid beta 2 live-cd and option nomodeset

2010-05-09 Thread Onno Leerink
I installed the current mainline kernel (2.6.34-999-generic) as described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds. The keyboard and the touchpad
still don't work. I do get a different message:
i8042.c: Failed to enable KBD port.

[Bug 561343] Re: No keyboard and touchpad with Lucid beta 2 live-cd and option nomodeset

2010-05-09 Thread Onno Leerink
... sorry, hit the wrong key.

The message 'Can't read CTR while initializing i8042' is not there any
more. The result is however the same:

i8042: probe of i8042 failed with error -5

I attached the dmesg log. If you would like to have the apport
information with this kernel please let me know.

Onno

[Bug 561343] Re: No keyboard and touchpad with Lucid beta 2 live-cd and option nomodeset

2010-05-09 Thread Onno Leerink
I updated the system and went from Ubuntu kernel 2.6.32-21-generic to
2.6.32-22-generic and now the problem is solved. I can use the touchpad
and keyboard again. In the dmesg log I find:

serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1
serio: i8042 AUX port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12

I do not entirely understand what the problem was but I am very happy
that it is solved. I guess the bug was somehow a duplicate and can be
closed now.

Thank you for solving this,

Onno

I attached a list of the updated packages for anyone who is interested.
If someone would like to have more information please let me know.

Re: [Bug 561343] Re: No keyboard and touchpad with Lucid beta 2 live-cd and option nomodeset

2010-04-28 Thread Onno Leerink
Hi Jeremy,

I installed daily builds of Lucid up to 19th of April. The problem still
exists. I work on Jaunty with kernel 2.6.28-18-generic and never had a
problem like this. Should I install 2.6.27-02062715-generic anyway?

Is it possible to run Lucid with the 2.6.27 kernel or should I install
this kernel on Jaunty?

With best regards,

Onno

Hi Onno,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 561343] Re: No keyboard and touchpad with Lucid beta 2 live-cd and option nomodeset

2010-04-14 Thread Onno Leerink
I checked the files and it seems that the initialization of the i8042
controller fails.

// Part of BootDmesg.txt
[5.205736] PNP: PS/2 Controller [PNP0303:PS2K,PNP0f13:PS2M] at 0x60,0x64

// Remark: This seems to be a message from the function 'static int
i8042_controller_init(void)' from i8042.c.
...
[6.187518] i8042: probe of i8042 failed with error -5

I have no idea why it fails. Can it be that the device is not ready yet
or that there is a timeout?

2010-04-12 Thread Onno Leerink
The updated data was generated with Apport while running the Lucid beta2
live-cd using a usb mouse that was added later to the system and the
Onboard keyboard application. I hope it gives more relevant information.

[Bug 327499] Re: kernel 2.6.28 doesn't boot on a dell inspiron 2650

2009-05-08 Thread Onno Leerink
I have the same problem with the dell inspiron 2650. With the 2.6.27
kernel the next line is:

[0.762725] pci :02:04.0: power state changed by ACPI to D0.

Now it just stops and I can only press the power button.

With the 2.6.28 kernel and pci=noacpi option the next line is:

[1.111966] pci :02:04.0: found PCI INT A - IRQ 10

I did some testing:
booting with the acpi=off kernel parameter - normal boot
booting with acpi=ht kernel parameter - normal boot

booting with pci=noacpi kernel parameter - normal boot
booting with acpi=noirq kernel parameter - same boot problem
booting with pnpacpi=off kernel parameter - same boot problem
booting with noapic kernel parameter - same boot problem
booting with nolapic kernel parameter - same boot problem

The bios (A13) is up to date and gives no options concerning ACPI.

[Bug 117133] Re: FEISTY (final): remove usb disk : fail to eject

2007-12-06 Thread Onno Leerink
In 7.10 the solution with unmount volume works very well. For me the
issue is solved. Thanks!

[Bug 157563] Solution for: anjuta can not be installed

2007-11-01 Thread Onno Leerink
I received a mail from Theo giving me the solution. I removed all
references to Anjuta in /etc/apt/preferences and /etc/apt/sources.list
followed by apt-get update and I could install Anjuta. In my case I had
to remove the entire /etc/apt/preferences file for it to work, an empty
file gave the following error:

E: Invalid record in the preferences file, no Package header

Thanks Theo.

[Bug 157563] anjuta can not be installed

2007-10-26 Thread Onno Leerink
Public bug reported:

Had Anjuta installed on feisty (7.04) but when I upgraded to gutsy

The following message appears:

And in Synaptic Package Manager:
   anjuta (2.2.0-1):
Depends: libgbf-1-0 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libgladeui-1-5 but it is not installable
Depends: libwnck18 (=2.15.90) but it is not installable

[Bug 116236] Re: evince shows a mostly blank pdf

2007-10-22 Thread Onno Leerink
I can confirm the last comment. On feisty evince this document rendered
fine but on gutsy the text and some pictures are missing. Rendering with
xpdf is fine. When I select the text I can see it, the pictures do not
show. Other PDF files do not show this problem.

[Bug 117133] Re: FEISTY (final): remove usb disk : fail to eject

2007-06-25 Thread Onno Leerink
I can also confirm this is problem. Every time when I disconnect my USB
Drive even if I do not write anything to it. I do not have the option to
power the USB drive off.

I also like to add that it confuses less advanced users leaving them in
the middle whether their data is save or not. For me it is therefore an
important bug. I hope somebody finds a solution for it. If I can help
with testing or anything please let me know.

Onno

[Bug 28648] Bug 28648] Re: Slow movement regression of synaptics touchpad on v0.14.3+seriouslythistime

2007-04-23 Thread Onno Leerink
With my ALPS touchpad (Dell D810) I had the problem with feisty but
solved it with the following xorg.conf option in the Synaptics Touchpad
section:

Option MinSpeed 0.60
Option MaxSpeed 1.10
Option AccelFactor 0.030

This solution works fine for me although I would rather set these
options from the a tab in the mouse preferences box.

I also set MaxTapTime to 0 because it was not working very well.
