[Bug 2059498] [NEW] Fatally broken update
Public bug reported: This morning's update has fatally broken the system, especially the plasma desktop. So many unresolved libraries. Plasma desktop and many of the installed packages have been removed, most to "rc", even the standard Ubuntu desktop is mostly broken. The libraries for which there are no install candidates are either versions that are too old or versions that appear to have things like "t0" at the end. Hopefully this is being addressed. [Bug 1971688] Re: PHP 8.1 zip module asserting with dependency problem
Hi Lena, Many thanks for you reply. The only explanation for trying to load zip.so.so I can find is that in the PHP config it was trying to load "extension=zip.so". I have removed the .so and it's still loading the module zip. As the error went away when I built the file from scratch I can't tell if this fixed it or not. Hi Athos, Many thanks for your reply. I think my dev machine had got itself in to a bit of a state. I have to support several code bases, some of which that rely on older versions of PHP. This dev machine has been around and updated since 16.04 and had PHP-5.6 and PHP-7.4 installed. Everything is now as it should be, i.e. libzip4 is now from the 22.04 repository, but I don't understand how libzip4_1.7.3-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb, and all other versions since Xenial, would have been considered a downgrade from 1:1.0.1-0+16.04+xenial+build6. This issue should probably now be closed as referring to packages from a really old setup. [Bug 1972710] [NEW] Package unnecessarily depend son postgresql-common
Public bug reported: The prometheus-pgbouncer-exporter only opens a socket to an existing pgbouncer daemon if pgbouncer is installed and running. Exporter does not use a psql client or talk directly to PostgresSQL services. This package does not need to depend on postgresql-common at all, and doing so leaves the client with a full, unexpected, and unmanaged installation of postgreslq-server running on it. If this is being done to re-use the postgres service account, this is a security issue as the unexpected sql server never gets configured off the package defaults. This package should either reuse the generic service account, or just create one for itself. ** Affects: prometheus-pgbouncer-exporter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1972710 Title: Package unnecessarily depend son postgresql-common To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/prometheus-pgbouncer-exporter/+bug/1972710/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1916857] Re: colord not working correctly in KDE / Plasma 5.21
Sorry it's been a while. I have found that if I log in at a terminal, F2, before logging in to the graphical desktop the colour profile sticks. No need to run any commands, just log in. However, it's pretty fragile. Change the screen layout, or other setting, or plug in a different monitor and the profile resets, but the settings dialog still shows the profile as applied. Selecting No Profile and then the profile causes the profile to be reapplied, and as long as the terminal login is still active the profile will stick. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916857 Title: colord not working correctly in KDE / Plasma 5.21 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-desktop/+bug/1916857/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1916857] Re: Color corections not sticking in Plasma
It appears to be colord. When the service is stopped KDE / Plasma is able to dictate the colour profile to be used. So KDE / Plasma 5.21 is unable to act as a client to colord and its desires are being overridden by colord on a polled basis. Ubuntu / Gnome is able to override what colord defaults to, but only as long as you're using Ubuntu / Gnome. So what is colord using as its default? This is different from the default profile in KDE / Plasma. Appears it's not limited to just Plasma. Every login option apart from Ubuntu (Xorg) exhibits the same behaviour. For some reason I now have Ubuntu, Ubuntu (Xorg) and Ubuntu (Wayland), and Plasma (X11) offered for login. Plasma (Wayland) just hangs. Tried launching the Ubuntu settings app as me and sudo when in Plasma but the same behaviour is exhibited. Need to login using Ubuntu (Xorg), change the colour corrections, logout, login using Plasma (X11), launch Plasma settings and apply the colour corrections. On logging in to Plasma (X11) I noticed the correct colour correction is checked but not applied. [Bug 1916857] [NEW] Color corections not sticking in Plasma
Public bug reported: My laptop screen needs colour corrections. In Groovy this worked but in Hirsute it doesn't. I calibrated the screen and have a good profile. In Groovy I used the systemsettings5 app to install and use this colour correction. All worked perfectly. In Hirsute this profile is still there and clicking on it applies the corrections, but a few seconds later it reverts. The checkbox remains where it is. Clicking in Default and back on the profile repeats, profile on, profile off after a couple of seconds. I have installed three other profiles and notice that the delay is after the first click. I.e. clicking on profile after profile, the reversion always occurs about 3 seconds after the first click, not the last. To get the profile to stick I had to log out, log in using Ubuntu / Gnome default desktop, apply the corrections there, log out and log in to Plasma-X11. However, this didn't last over a reboot. [Bug 1916852] [NEW] Update bails leaving system in a corrupted state
Public bug reported: I ran a do-release-upgrade and all seemed to run ok until it hit some kind of error at which point it exited saying the system had been returned to its original state. Unfortunately it hadn't. I carried on working, thought nothing more about the error, assuming the system was as it was before, until I rebooted. The system booted, launched X, sddm and the login screen. However, the login screen was a mess, no icons and black text in black boxes. I logged in and the desktop was the same, actually worse. I dropped in to the terminal to discover there were 3,500 package updates. The /etc/apt/ directory had been overwritten with entries for hirsute. Some packages must have already been updated to break the DM so badly. Attempting to run the updates showed there was one new package that conflicted with a new one. The old package uninstalled with no dependencies and no issues. Sorry, can't remember the package, but it was a -data or some such. I need this system, so I have now fixed the issues, it may be too late to gather much more information. ** Affects: plasma-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916852 Title: Update bails leaving system in a corrupted state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-desktop/+bug/1916852/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1906710] [NEW] Ansible 2.5 too old to handle Python 3.8 on Ubuntu 20.04
Public bug reported: TL;DR: Ansible 2.5 is too old to manage any targeted hosts running Python 3.8 or newer (Ubuntu 20.04 and higher) and lacking a python 2.x install. I have Ubuntu 18.04 on my office laptop. I installed the most recent ansible from the repos on it and started developing ansible playbooks for use on our network. I quickly encountered issues attempting to do anything requiring python on the targeted hosts if those hosts are Ubuntu 20.04 or newer. Python 3.8 is the oldest version available for install on Ubuntu 20.04. Ansible 2.5 is not compatible with Python 3.8 on targeted hosts, it requires Python 3.7 or Python 2.x on the targeted hosts. I do not have the political power here to install python 2.x on hosts that don't already have it installed so that is not a viable solution. Ansible 2.5 is using long-deprecated library calls that have been removed in Python 3.8, which is the only version available for Ubuntu 20.04. More recent releases of Ansible have adjusted for the change in the Python 3.8 libraries. These releases are not available in the 18.04 LTS repos. Thus, version of ansible in 18.04 LTS is not able to manage targets running Ubuntu 20.04 or newer. I have checked bionic-updates and bionic-backports and there is no newer release of Ansible present. We need a backport release of Ansible made available for Ubuntu 18.04 so that 18.04 control hosts can manage Ubuntu 20.04 and newer targets. I've resorted to purging the LTS ansible packages and installing Ansible with pip3 instead, and using venv to run it on my personal login. This really isn't a good solution to the problem, however. Simple test: ubuntu 18.04$ ansible all -m ping where the hosts file ansible is reading contains a mix of Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, and 20.04 targets. I expect them to all respond with a 'pong' message. I get 'pong' back from Ubuntu 18.04 and older hosts. For Ubuntu 20.04 and newer hosts, I get a stack trace out of python complaining about the inability to identify the release and dist on the target. ** Affects: ansible (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1906710 Title: Ansible 2.5 too old to handle Python 3.8 on Ubuntu 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ansible/+bug/1906710/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1903369] Re: grub-install fails
I tested the same installer on a different computer and it worked perfectly on that one, so there seems to be an issue with the installer and my computer. [Bug 1879417] Re: with default font, empty lines have different height to non-empty lines
Yes, I can confirm it happens for me with the gnome calculator too. Also, I'm running at 2560x1440 with scale=100% on one affected machine and 3200x1800 with scale=200% on another, which I think means that it isn't hidpi or scaling related. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1879417 Title: with default font, empty lines have different height to non-empty lines To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1879417/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1887155] Re: Intel graphics flicker like crazy in Groovy
Using Ubuntu desktop and GDM3 the flickering doesn't occur (but I can't log back in from lock). Using any other DM and DE the flickering occurs. It appears unrelated to compositing as I've tried it with and without compositing enabled. It's weird as other reports of flickering seem to observing flickers at all times while my issue only occurs on the lock screen and popups from system tray icons. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887155 Title: Intel graphics flicker like crazy in Groovy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kglobalaccel/+bug/1887155/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
