[Bug 1647603] Re: Add option for semi-transparent keyboard

2016-12-10 Thread pad
Hi!

For me the new layout is great, but I think it might be the best
solution to chance only the transparency of the background of the
keyboard an not of the letters. Because with 100% transparency letters
you didn’t see were you typing.

At next probably for bright background dark letters are right (like the
text messaging app, the web browser, the notes app, ..), but for dark
backgrounds you will need bright letters (looks like the lock screen).

So I think the keyboard on the lock screen and the "general" keyboard
are two different types.

Further we should be able to adjust the colour of the letters on the
lock screen keyboard because the colour depends on your background on
the Phone (Snowy Mountains need a dark colour, the Ubuntu magenta
background need bright letters, ...).

Sorry for my bad English, I hope you will understand what I mean.

Greets!

[Bug 739318] Re: Banshee doesn't detect MP3-Player

2011-08-03 Thread Launch Pad
Now, I have Banshee 2.0.0, and it does not recognise any of my devices.
However, Ubuntu does mount it. Thoughts? Did the fixes in version
1.9.6-1ubuntu1 not make it into 2.0.0?

[Bug 278514] Re: No driver for Canon i250 printer

2010-10-16 Thread Pad
This might be an old bug report but I'm still using this old Canon i250 and,
since I updated my Hardy Heron to Lucid Lynx I don't manage to make it working.
I have an "unknown tag" error message when converting .rpm to .deb... Then when
I run an impression the impression manager tell me that the job is done... but
nothing started

P.S. Excuse me if this isn't proper English but I have a very big
handicap for speaking foreign languages: I'm French :p

[Bug 521950] [NEW] VirtualBox abort Windows XP install during partition format

2010-02-14 Thread PAD
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

Ubuntu release: 9.10 Karmic Koala
Package version: virtualbox-ose 3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1

After booting win xp install cd, creating the partition for the guest OS
and choosing NTFS quick format on that partition, I expected the
installer to format successfully and then start to copy the installation
files on the new partition.

What happened instead after choosing NTFS quick format (and also NTFS
full format) is that the progress bar stucks at 0% and sometimes stucks
at 20%, and then VirtualBox freezes for a while (the window turns grey)
and the running machine aborts and closes.

Here I attach the log file for VirtualBox after aborting the running
machine.

Many thanks.

[Bug 503933] [NEW] ubuntu one, while syncing crashed

2010-01-06 Thread Teki Pad
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I am not able to open it again. I get the notificaiton
'There was a fatal error in Ubuntu One. This may be a bug in the software.
Please click on the Ubuntu One icon in your panel to report a bug.' everytime i
try to start it.
I have installed ubuntu 9.10 to a new root partition but my /home was an
already existing partition from a previous install of 9.04. I hadn't installed
ubuntu one on ubuntu 9.04.

After installing 9.10, Ubuntu One was working fine and I was able to
sign in and register my pc. To sync, I then copied the folder /var/www
to the ubuntu one folder and it began synchronizing. A few files made it
to ubuntu one, after which it crashed.

[Bug 259609] Re: package samba 2:3.2.1-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-02-17 Thread PAD
Well, I've managed the samba reinstallation in the next way.

Noticed that samba depends on samba-common, and samba-common needed the
smb.conf I deleted, which it should actually provide, I think.
So I decided create a fake smb.conf (touch /etc/samba/smb.conf). Then I could
install samba-common and it didn't complain about the empty file. Then I could
install samba, also without any complain about an empty smb.conf.
Next I thought was.. "Now I just need to find the original smb.conf on the web
and voila..", but before doing that, I realized looking in samba-common package
info, that it installed a kind of template for smb.conf in /usr/share/samba, so
I copied that file back to /etc/samba, so the server was aparentely working
again, at least it didn't complain about anything.
Another thing I realized looking on samba-common package info, was that it
should have intalled "/etc/samba/gdbcommands" which I've seen before deleting
them, but now is not there.

[Bug 259609] Re: package samba 2:3.2.1-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-02-17 Thread PAD
Same here, using Debian Lenny.
I messed up smb.conf, so I decided reinstall samba thinking it would give me a
fresh smb.conf, and it didn't, same messed up file was there.
Then I removed samba again, removed the entire /etc/samba folder, and
reinstalled samba giving a post-installation error "nmbd failed to start", and
/etc/samba folder wasn't created.

After reading this post, tried removing also samba-common, though samba-common
isn't a dependency of samba package. Bad idea, now I can't install samba-common
again because /etc/samba/smb.conf doesn't exists and obviously it won't create
it.
So which package originally created /etc/samba folder and configuration files??
Or how can I make this folder and conf files get back?

[Bug 195221] Re: Wrong UDMA mode due to error in 40/80 wire cable detection

2008-09-14 Thread pad
I just updated my laptop to Hardy and I still got the same problem. As
the same as last time, I fixed this problem in my laptop using technique
from "limited to UDMA/33 due to 40-wire cable",
http://pixca.net/2008/02/03/limited-to-udma33-due-to-40-wire-cable/. For
those of you who are using Hardy, I have created a deb file for my
patch.

Usage:
sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite libata-80wire_2.6.24-19.41_i386.deb

** Attachment added: "force libata to use 80-wire cable setting"
