[Bug 178817] software sticky key issue in x

2007-12-26 Thread Patrick McEvoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

In Hardy...

Running 'Hitman 2' (the game) in wine creates a sticky key. When wine in
closed the problem remains. Restarting gdm ends the problem. This has
also happened once when wine was not running, I had just mashed the
keyboard by mistake so have no idea what keys were pressed to cause it.
It's a standard 105 keyboard using British layout, nothing special in
hardware or config. Have reconfigured xserver-xorg several times, cannot
fix.

[Bug 82314] Re: pata driver in libata not mounting /home

2007-04-09 Thread Patrick McEvoy
It gets further than before (with 2.6.20-13), always says there are
errors on sda1. Only kernel I have working (2.6.17-10) does not flag
these errors. After the error check pumps out more errors and boot
halts. I will photo the screen if needed.

[Bug 82314] Re: pata driver in libata not mounting /home

2007-04-04 Thread Patrick McEvoy
Reed: I have got 2.6.17-10 booting fine on my system. My other kernels
will not boot (2.6.20-13, 2.6.20-12, 2.6.17-11).

I can confirm all the above problems (/dev/hda -> /dev/sda), the beta cd
throws up the same dmesg as reported before.

[Bug 82314] Re: pata driver in libata not mounting /home

2007-03-29 Thread Patrick McEvoy
Same problem here, Acer TravelMate 8000 (8006LMi).

"attempt to access beyond end of device" and boot halts

Using 2.6.17-10 atm to boot, which works fine.

This is clearly quite a new problem and I can't find any useful
information anywhere. I don't know enough to fix myself and this is my
work system that I need so I can't mess about too much either.

Knew I should have waited for the release before upgrading... least I
have a kernel that boots :)
