[Bug 1877000] Re: openjfx is missing native libraries for webkit and media

2020-10-16 Thread Paul Gotch
It would be really useful if this fix was back ported in to focal, the
packages from groovy don't install on focal as they require a newer
version of libc than is in focal.

I came across this bug while trying to use O365Interative authentication
for davmail and it basically blocks this usage of that package until
this is fixed.

[Bug 1543185] [NEW] Malformed query causing timeouts due to ignored upstream queries

2016-02-08 Thread Paul Gotch
Public bug reported:

In some situations dnsmasq makes malformed upstream queries resulting in
servfail being returned after the 5s timeout built in to dnsmask.

For example asking for

foo

with athing.bar.com and bar.com in the search path and two servers
dns1.bar.com and dns1.bar.com results in

System asks both dns1 and dns2 about:
   foo.athing.bar.com => immediate NXDomain from both;
asks dns1 about:
  foo.  => Servfail;
asks both about:
foo. with what tcpdump transcribes as '[b2&3=0x182] A? => no
response from either [5 sec timeout];
retries:
simple "A? foo." query to both, immediate Servfail from both

The query giving the time out appear to be malformed and the upstream
servers are completely ignoring it leading to the time out.

[Bug 1240055] [NEW] Kernel BUG and Oops probably related to xset dpms force off

2013-10-15 Thread Paul Gotch
Public bug reported:

I encountered a kernel BUG and oops after upgrading to the Raring HWE
for Ubuntu 12.04. This is probably related touse of xset dpms force off.

The display completely failed after this oops although the kernel and
network stack were still alive. However due to plymouth being in disk
wait state I was unable to cleanly reboot my system. The issue starts at

[Bug 378958] Re: xorg 100% cpu when scrolling in rdesktop

2011-08-31 Thread Paul Gotch
This or something similar also affects me in 11.04. Using an RV710 based
ATI card using the free driver. Text Scrolling in rdesktop produces high
host CPU load and is very slow.

I'm not sure but I think that this wasn't a problem when I had a nvidia
card and was using the binary drivers (which I don't want to do for
other reasons).

This is definitely related to the the graphics driver. Switching to

has made the problem go away.

[Bug 525716] [NEW] Intermittant failure to render text across full width of gvim window

2010-02-22 Thread Paul Gotch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vim-gnome

Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10

vim-gnome:
  Installed: 2:7.2.245-2ubuntu2
  Candidate: 2:7.2.245-2ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 2:7.2.245-2ubuntu2 0
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Vim intermittently fails to render text across the fill width of the window
when invoked using its GTK GUI. This mostly happens after scrolling but can
happen immediately when a file is opened. I've attached a screen shot of the
corruption. Note the truncated text at the top of the screen and the fully
rendered text at the bottom.

This bug looks like it's a problem between gvim and X somehow as
dragging another window across the area that vim has failed to render
then moving it away again causes it to render the missing text. However
in the cases where I get corruption it happens again when I scroll.

Some additional information.

I've compiled an upstream vim from the 7.2 sources and this exhibits
exactly the same problem (once FORTIFY_SOURCE is switched off in order
to actually get it to run) I've not tried the latest svn yet.

The tip of svn, ie vim 7.2.367 also suffers from this problem.

For reference my video card is ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600
