[Bug 884011] Re: regression: lost ability to show continuous status with tray/appindicator icon

2014-02-02 Thread Peter-Alexander
Now it worse than before. I've upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 and now it's
impossible to display systray icons. There is no whitelisting for
systray icons anymore. The only exceptions are wine and java which are
hardcoded. Everything else is blocked. yad too.

I guess someone needs to write indicator integration for yad and/or
zenity. The other option is switching away from ubuntu.

[Bug 884011] Re: regression: lost ability to show continuous status with tray/appindicator icon

2012-04-27 Thread Peter-Alexander
Hello ceg,
you have edited my bug report and somehow I agree to you and somehow I don't.
I agree to you that displaying a tray icon is still a requirement.
I disagree that moving that function to a different option name is ok. It would
be ok to implement a new function with a new name that does what --notification
does now. Everything else would be a regression because it breaks all scripts
which rely on 'zenity --notification'.

[Bug 884011] [NEW] zenity doesn't show tray/appindicator icon

2011-10-30 Thread Peter-Alexander
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10
zenity 3.2.0-0ubuntu1

In a script I use following line:
exec 3> >(zenity --notification --window-icon="icon.svg" --listen --text="some
text")
so I can change the tray icon based on what the script does.

What I expect to happen:
"zenity --notification" should show an icon in the tray or appindicator.

What happens instead:
A "zenity --warning" style dialog window pops up.

[Bug 874900] Re: "Enable mobile broadband" option gets unchecked

2011-10-25 Thread Peter-Alexander
Thought I have found a solution but I don't. But I tell you.

Goto "system settings" then "network" and under "mobile broadband" there
is in the lower right corner an option "airplane mode". It was
aktivated. I thought deactivating could solve the problem but it
doesn't.

But what in the world should this function do? It's activated and I can
connect - not automatically but...

Maybe someone can help?

[Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens

2011-10-24 Thread Peter-Alexander
After looking again at the mock ups of post #38 I would prefer to make
the combined title/menu bar more like it is now in global menu. Only
show the title in the bar an on mouseover show the menus only. Because
this is much more beautiful.

[Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens

2011-10-24 Thread Peter-Alexander
I like the mock ups from post #38.

I generally love the global menus. Sometimes it is not so good because
the wrong application has focus and I have to activate the right window
to access the menu.

I hate the "traditional" window menus. They unnessasarily take up screen
space and additionally they aren't beautiful.

I haven't intensly thought about it but I like the idea of combining the
title bar and the menu bar in not maximized windows. (post #38)

[Bug 874900] Re: "Enable mobile broadband" option gets unchecked

2011-10-15 Thread Peter-Alexander
I wanted a very quick solution. Thinking of finding a configuration file
or something to edit I came across this command:

nmcli nm wwan on

This does the same as checking the "Enable mobile broadband" in nm-
applet and doesn't solve the bug. But when run at system startup the
mobile broadband connection will be established. If the device is
removed and reinserted the "Enable mobile broadband" option is unchecked
again. So this doesn't solve the bug but makes life a bit easier for me
and maybe for some others until this is fixed so I thought I'll share it
here.

Has anybody reported this to gnome's bugzilla?

[Bug 579804] Re: Store/read tags inside photos

2010-11-08 Thread Peter-Alexander
Please make this optional.

I sometimes tag photos temporary while searching for information and
after I'm finished I delete these tags. The problem here is when the
files are actually changed the backup program will notice that and
backup all those files (and maybe twice!). So for me it would be great
if I had an option to actually write the information to the image files
on demand.

Thanks.
